I just found a link showing an old dragonrider game for the commodore 64 or Atari. Hehehe, now I want this game too :D http://home.arcor.de/cybergoth/gamesc/dragonridersofpern.html

If I remember rightly that one was based on the board game, which means that, unlike the PC/Dreamcast version, you actually get to fight Thread in it! I used to have an Atari, but never got round to getting the game (basically because I never found one anywhere).

Do you have a 64 tucked away so you can play the game if you actually get your hands on it?

Keep your eye out on ebay, it's where I got mine from ;)

It's a bit of a legal gray area, but do a google search for abandonware. The Underdogs is my favorite abandonware site... Huh, it has a MS Dos version of it! Hmmm, divide by zero error. :irked: Well, wouldn't be the first time WinXP balked at running an MS Dos file. There're also C64 versions floating around on some of the other sites, just find yourself a C64 emulator such as CCS64 or PC64 and you're set ... once you get them to run properly, that is. ;)
From the limited amount of time I spent trying to figure the game out, I'd say you're not missing much.

I've got a friend who still sometimes uses one of the old Commodores... and he's dropped it from pretty high places several times. Not really any power or memory at all, but the hardware's durable...

I just downloaded the c64 version of the game and a c64 emulator onto my windows vista laptop. Tried to play the game but no instructions and it seems kinda boring.

How to have fun!
I am using winvice emulator www.viceteam.org/
set joystick to port 2
Start the game and press F3 until it says thread fighting practice.
F7 to begin.
F5 will change the depth, but start on 1.
F7 again to begin.
J up - beat wings to go up
J down - glide down
J left - change direction using rotation from Right to R/UP to Back to L/Up to Left to L/Down to Forward to R/down to Right.
J right - rotate in other direction
Spacebar - Go between, from which you will reappear at a random point on the screen. Use this to avoid thread when needed
You will turn red if you get scored by thread and then you have a few seconds in which to jump between and it is counted in the score for the round as an injury. If you do not jump in time, the screen goes red for a few seconds and it is counted as a dragon death.
When playing with depth, turning to back will send you back in depth to where the threads are shorter in length, while turning to front will bring you back again. So with with depth set to 2, to stay on level 1, do not rotate to back; to stay on level 2, do not rotate to front.
Hope this helps.
