I thought I'd move them all into one, more convenient thread. :ok:

Poetry from a Tired Mind (1):

The sweet night's gentle kiss
A whisper on the breeze
In the dark hours of the morning
A song flows from window to darkened window

Calling
Searching

In the dark hours of the morning
I sit awake and watch a candle flicker
The breeze through the open window brings wordless voices
A whisper in the night
The song of the restless and weary of heart

For all the calling
For all its searching
It has found me
And plays its song to my tired mind
A lullaby and sweet goodnight
A serenade of dreams

Yet now as it sings to me
I feel the world slip away
Fall
Darken
And in the last moments of conscious thought
It leaves me to fall
To dream
For who else is dreamless
Who else does sleep elude
Only the song in the night will know.

Poetry from a Tired Mind (2):

In a moonlit graveyard
I walk among the overgrown headstones of people passed
and wonder
"Will I be forgotten?"

Through a shadowed wood
I see a run-down house
Old and decayed and ask
"Will time ravage me so?"

Across the star strewn sky
A fleeting arc of light disappears over the horizon
and I think
"Is life so fleeting as a comet crossing the heavens?"

What is it for but a bookmark in time?
A dog-eared page in the annals of history?
A smear upon the granite slate that is the universe...

We are but one life
One soul
One mind in the whirlwind of the past and the uncertainty of the future
And in the end we will all be forgotten
Time will ravage our bodies
And life will remain as fleeting as a comet crossing the heavens.

Untitled as of yet:

Where fore art thou beauty
But in thine eye to see
A secret born from heartache
The key thee gave to me

A song of hope and longing
Of wanting come to pass
The secret born from heartache
The trials made to last

In sadness was found a joy
One that was not clear
It showed you it was waiting
for the secret born from heartache
To release you from its fear.

Yet strength was in thy heart
And the will to go on strong
So the secret born from heartache
Will now not last so long

Another night a light shone through
To brighten a weary soul
To chase the secret born from heartache
And to away, make it go

You see the hope
You see the strength
From the light it was quite found
Through misery is came to thee
And showed it knew no bounds
It seeks to tell
That love can prove that anything can pass
That secret born from heartache
Was never meant to last.

A Poem of Many Meanings

Perhaps by chance I have stumbled upon your beauty,
Softly nestled between two towering peaks.
But how have you come to be?
The air around you is much too cold,
Yet here you exist beneath the sun,
Warmth in every flower, brook, and sea.

Perhaps a thing conceived by my imagination,
Put here as a haven for me.
A place to escape cold, harsh reality
And soften the blow of the spoken word.

Perhaps, if I may, you are not what I make you to be at all.
For sometimes, in a beauty such as yours, there lies a trap.
A trap of unmistakeable innocence that is not innocent at all.
And yet here I am hovering near like a moth drawn to the flame.

Perhaps I read too much into your simple beauty,
Maybe you are exactly what I see and no more.
But somewhere in the deep, untouched pools of my heart,
there lies a feeling of unknowing trust.
A feeling of uncertain fear.
A feeling of unparalleled want.
And maybe,
Just maybe,
You are exactly what you are
And no more.

What is a Question

A question, hmm, a question.
It can be short or long,
Or it can be right or wrong,
Could it be stupid or smart?

What is a question?

Maybe it’s something you say when you’re confused,
Or maybe it could be totally blown out of proportion.
What about a statement?

What is a question?

I know,
It’s a mixed up thought looking for an answer.
Well, maybe a thing.
What do you think?

What is a question?

I entered this one into a contest and it got published into those book things they try and make you buy if yours gets in there. LoL It IS nice to see my poem in print though. ;)

My love, you are my life, my soul, my very breath.
A strength found not in me, but in you, that you give without knowing.
You are the sun which rises over my heart, awakening my love for you,
which continues to grow.
My heart is your forever, and yours mine.
Joined, will form a bond so strong that only hatred in its strongest, purest
form can break it.
Yet even if we have troubles, our love will prevail in the end.

This poem was inspired by Anne McCaffrey’s The Dragonrider’s of Pern

Dragon Fight

Dragons ride,
Darkness nears,
People run, their hearts in fear.

The Red Star turns,
The silver rains fall,
Hide and cover, one and all.

Dragonriders
Come and fight,
Riders and dragons with all your might.

Sear the rain from the sky
As the Red Star passes by.

Victory won
For now, this day.
But the fight will come again,
Don’t run away.

The touch of love, the song of grace. An empty heart, an empty face.
A crying soul, a burning mind, all caused by the world unkind.

A whip of scorn, a brand of hate, a word of comfort come too late.
The song of tears come much too soon,
The words of hate dig deep wounds.

A young life gone much too fast,
The searing words, a killing blast.
Keep your valor, you might be next.
These preying demons, forever hexed.

Change

The fear of change, sometimes too much to bear.
Often going on with out a care.
Yet then you notice you are lost,
where to go. . . was it worth the cost?
Just think again, find your path,
Know your goal and where it’s at.
Try your best to see the way,
It’s your life, don’t let it fade away.

By the grace of the star that rises with the crescent moon
Spare some of your graceful beauty for me.

When you shine upon the world
Your light is like a beacon
The calls to those who wish to escape--
to thos who desire more than this world.

It's a song
A call to the souls of those who feel lost.

Oh rising star
Shine some of your light on me
And bear me away.

((I wrote this for my grandparents and family in Idaho... a bit of a "I'm thinking of you and hope all is well" poem :) I'm not really religious, persay, but they are a good deal more than I... just thought I'd explain before I posted this poem :) You'll see why ))

From my heart I send to thee
An angel to watch over my family.
To guard you through your daily life,
To watch over you while sleep has your eyes closed tight.

She's there to wrap you with the love
From your saviour up above,
And she'll whisper sweet thoughts in your ear
when sorrow even beckons near.
A shoulder for tears to ease a troubled heart,
And to link our family though we're far apart.

So lean on her when the need appears,
Don't be afraid to tell her all of your fears.
She'll sing a song to warm your soul,
Be with you always wherever you go.
And remember me when times seem rough,
Because sometimes one angel isn't always enough.

Darkness
A sea of tears
A single raft adrift
Waves crash down around me
The silence descends
And echos through my heart.

Pain ignites depression
Burning in my soul
Despair with its claws
Digging in deep
A hold on my sanity
Not wanting to let go.

A light flickers and dies
Hope is not re-kindled
The sorrow washes over me
Drowns me in its wake
Silencing my cry for help
Darkness.

((I wrote this for a friend of mine :D))

The rain can fall
but my umbrella with shelter me.
The wind can blow
but I will stay warm.
Fear can shake me
but I will remain strong.
Time may pass
but fond memories last forever.
Sorrow may haunt me
but happiness finds its way.
Dreams may escape me
but they will not be lost.
Love will come and go
but one thing will always remain...

A kind soul.

A gentle heart.

A friend.

((For another friend. ;)))

A laugh
A tear
An inside joke
Two hour phone calls late at night.
A secret shared
Love and support
Flowers just because...
Triumphs shared
... and sorrows too
Things too precious for words.

For all the ups and downs,
This is what you call a friend.

The pain can feel like the weight of the world,
Crushing and intense.
It feels like nothing will ever again make much of any sense.
You feel that life is targeting you--and only you,
But be assured, right here and now, that definitely isn't true.

We all feel pain throughout our lives,
Some feels worse-I know.
Through it all we keep right through
Yet progress may feel slow.
You're here, right know, proving that you're strong,
But that is something I knew quite well--I knew it all along.

So don't give up,
And don't give in,
With the help of your friends
Light will shine again.
We're here for you
So soon you'll see
All that life can really be.

I wrote this one on 7-23-2006... so very recent. :)

I sit
and stare
and wonder
Just how it came to this.
Frustration
Anger
Sadness
The rainbow of my life.

The turmoil and the trouble,
Shakes me to my core,
A whirlwind of pain surrounds me
Engulfing everything I know.

It stays
It lingers
It laughs
A rhythm from which I can't break free,
Constant
Enduring
Intense
Obstructing even happiness that gets in its way.

This tempest tossed intrusion
An unwelcome guest in my life,
But the way to overcome it
Just out of reach...
Just seen from the corner of my eye.

Inspired by... well... by how I've been today...

Frustration
Confusion
A blinding drive to scream
The combination that would be a nightmare builder's dream.
Energy with no way out
Almost painful, yes it's true
Crashing down to Earth again
To a world so tainted in blue.
Rage that follows
Scary and intense
Do not question my silence
Do no ask me to vent.

A never ending flow of words
Going through my head...
They just won't stop
Shooting through my every nerve
A drive so intense
The after burn comes... I drop.

Do not pick me up
Do not bring me back
Let me stay in oblivion
Leave me off track.

To myself I promise the following things:

To always say 'I love you' just to see the joy that it brings.

To be more kind to myself and always believe that I'm as beautiful as the ones I love see me.

And I promise that to my love I'll be the best wife that I can possibly be.

With every day I'll find another reason to smile, and to strive to create new things that make life worthwhile.

Also to try and not worry so much... there are bigger things in life and such.

I can't forget to eat right and exercise, to get myself healthy as can be, that's for sure!

And last but not least to treasure every memory, with my friends, my pets, myself and my family.

I know that life has thrown you some curve balls
At times impossible to hit
With some you made a grand slam
And some you simply missed.
It's shaken your foundations
Down to your very core
You thought long and hard about giving up
Unable to take anymore.

Everyone was against you
Or so it felt at times
You felt unworthy of living
Like breathing was a crime.
But someone, somewhere was waiting
To remind you that wasn't true
That indeed you are amazing
And that there are many who love you.

They dried your eyes of all your tears
And helped you calm your storm
They held you close and soothed your fears
Telling you something wonderful was in store.
You'll find the light that will lead you to right where you want to be
And when you get there you'll find the hope that will set you free.

So don't forget that through the storm there's always shelter for you
Someone to step in and hit those curves balls right into the blue.
A voice to tell that not all is lost
That you are treasured and are loved
And just by breathing you show the world that fear you are above.

You're strong, though you may not feel it
And brave, though you feel fear
But somehow... someday...
You will be happy that you're here.

I sit
I stare
I wait for a change
I wait for a change to come

I sit and wonder why I’m here
I stare into the emptiness and hope for light

I watch
I wonder
I wonder why things happen

I watch for something to appear

In the silence of day I call for happiness
For something to give and show me the way
But still I sit
And stare
And wait

Still I watch
And I wonder
And hope

Yes, I hope
