Did anybody see this week's episode? My usual channel had American Idol on instead.:mad2: I am NOT impressed with this. I've already sent the station a rather snippy letter but that doesn't tell me what happened. Last I saw was Claire walking out of the brush while Locke and Boone were looking for the kid's dog. Is Claire still pregnant? Do they show what the guys found burried. WHAT HAPPENED?????

DON'T WORRY! NEOU TO THE RESCUE! It was a repeat this week. Where Sahid finds the French woman. Nothing new. :( I was so angry! I guess next week will be new again.....

This was the first episode of Lost that I've seen. I thought it was interesting. I decided to start watching it because I read that Mira Furlan, Delenn on Babylon 5, was in it. It seemed to be pure chance that the episode that I saw last night was one which she starred in.

I got a nice note from the tv station telling me they had pre-empted it only because there wasn't a new episode. The new one will be shown on Feb. 9th and they're sorry for the inconvience. At least they showed something that has some humour. They could have shown that new Simple Life show. Blech

So...did ya watch? ;)

This last week's episode featuring Sawyer was a hoot. (thanks for the pics, Deb :heartbeat ).

**SPOILER**

What a kick in the teeth for him to have actually killed someone and then to discover it was all a setup. And wasn't that interesting that he met Charlie's dad? And it was just like him not to tell Charlie about it. I still want to find out why the other fellow (with the sister...can't recall his name at the moment) hasn't remembered that he saw Sawyer at the police station (and what was THAT about??).

Anyway, the boar story was great. :D

Oh, I love Lost. I try to keep up with the show, but my parents like to go to the fitness center on Wednesdays because "nothing worth watching is on TV." (Don't get me wrong, we go to the FC almost daily, but they're sure to go on Wed. ;) ) And I say, "WHAT?! WEDNESDAY IS THE DAY WE SHOULDN'T GO!!!"

So, I think I've missed at least two episodes? Maybe just one, because it may have been a rerun. Did they ever figure out what was buried? I think that's where I left off.

Mausey

Sawyer didn't meet Charlie's dad NeouofPern, he met Jack's dad in the bar. You could just see it in his eyes when he realized who Jack was, what's in this for me? I'm sure he's got some plan running through his mercenary little mind.

No, we don't know what it is yet, they sort of put the burried object on the back burner after Claire turned up. I'm sure Boone and Loche are still working on it though. :D

I thought that look was kind of "could the guy I talked to actually be Jack's dad?" "Should I tell him?" "after allowing Sayid to torture me, heck no!"

Very interesting episode this week. I missed the first few minutes and walked in during a flashback scene and thought..Oh no...a rerun. Then realized the scene was from Jin's perspective. I still don't know why it was such a big deal that she couldn't tell him she spoke English.

So there I am watching Wednesday's episode on Replay (one the the bestest inventions ever!!) and it's on the scene showing Jin entering the Minister's house for the first time to deliver Sun's Dad's message. The Minister guy gestures to his little girl watching tv on the sofa and the scene quick flashes to her and the television.

WHAT THE...!!!!!

I think to myself, did I just see what I think I saw on that tv?

Since I am on Replay (did I mention this is THE BEST THING EVER?), I quickly rewind 14 seconds and rewatch the scene, playing close attention to what the little girl is watching on her tv set for the 5 seconds they show that part of the scene.

Guess what, or rather WHO is on the tv?

HURLEY! The tv screen has Japanese letters on the bottom and an action shot of HURLEY getting into a car.

Yeah, considering he had his own set of secrets too, and that he wanted to start over also before the plane crash too, you'd think he would at least try. I did like that he and Michael seem to be trying to get past everything at the end though.

As much as I dislike Shannon, I do like the her and Sayid thing too.

But I wish they'd solve at least ONE of the mysteries before throwing another out there.

They also never explained why Sawyer was being brought to the police station during Shannon's brother's (can't recall his name at the mo') flashback.

Not sure if this is a spoiler - so just in case SPOILER ALERT!!!!

Okay - so we know someone is supposed to die before the end of the season. Boone is in Baaaaaaaad shape and Claire is going into labor. I've got a real bad feeling about next week's show. Will Boone die (will they name Claire's baby after him if he does?). Will Claire die because Jack is busy trying to save Boone and can't come to her when she needs him? Or is this a teaser and both will be saved?

And what's with the light in the tunnel? Or whatever that bunker thing is.

This entire show left me with a twisty feeling in my stomach - right from the beginning. It was definately a strange episode.

NeouofPern

I can see that happening...too bad, he was a cool character, but he kinda needs to die for the sake of the plotline.

Dux
1st April 2005, 05:51 PM
BTW - we still don't know how he became paralyzed. I don't think they'll kill him for that reason. I don't think they'll kill someone unless they've finished that person's story or that person's story doesn't need to be told. There is still some mystery to Locke - unfirtunately that's true of Kate too (I'd love it if she went) - we still don't know who she killed. Jack - no mysteries left, but they'll keep him, he's too important. Sawyer - can't kill him, the he's got too big of a fan base. Hurley - we still don't know for sure why he was on Korean tv - but they could axe him. Walter - they won't kill a kid. They could kill his dad though. Charlie - hope not....

NeouofPern
1st April 2005, 08:32 PM

I can see it now. Except by plane crashes or ship wrecks, no one can come to the island. So, in order for Claire's baby to actually be born alive, Boone has to die. One leaves so that one can arrive.

Thought I'd report this to you all as it seems we all missed it. In the episode, two weeks ago when Boone was on the plane something weird happened. Remeber, Boone was trying to use the radio to sned out a message about them being on the Island. He sends out a message saying hello, is anyone out there? and got a response. Boone then says that "we're the survivors of Ocenia flight 815" the response he got back was pretty static-y and Locke was yelling in the background for Boone to get out of the plane. Well, it turns out that the response over the radio was Verrrrrry important. People have been posting about it on the Lost website and apparently the staic-y response back was one of three things it was either: "we're the survivors of flight 815" or "there were no survivors of flight 815" The second would make sense, but I've relistened to the audio over and over again, it it really sounds more like the first. Which means there are other survivors out there somewhere.

Kate is turning into a real pain. We knew she was on the run and willing to do almost anything, but now she's even talking other people into doing her dirty work. Has it ever occured to her that having somebody on the raft that can actually sail is a good thing? I seriously dislike Kate. The actress can't act and the character has no reason to be in the series other than to be everywhere and in every scene. Kate needs to die and stop wasting food and water.

Anyone who wouldn't pick Sawyer over Jack is a pansy, even for a girl.

I'm not overly fond of Jack either but he is a doctor (though not a very good one) so I'll put up with him. But why does everyone look to him for leadership? I'd be following the guy who finds food, myself.

This is one tv series I will have to buy on DVD.

Faren, here's the gist:

MissUseless (Kate) figured out if she were on the raft and they were rescued her chances of escaping would be better than staying on the island and waiting for the press to find her. First she tries to get Sawyer dumped from the boat. Tells Michael that she has sailing experience (truth or not?) but Sawyer has bought his way on through trade. So she convinces Sun to poison Jin, knowing Sun wants him to stay. Michael drinks the tainted water instead. Major confrontation and now everyone knows Kate's a fugative. Though she admits to that she slants it so she's the innocent who "yes, will go to jail" if caught. Everyone hates her now. Til next week.

Turniphead still doesn't have a name.

Sayid and Locke show Jack the hatch. Later Walt (as seen in the previews) tells Locke not to open that thing. Jack wants it open (shelter if nothing else), Locke wants it open (who knows why) but Sayid wants it left closed (gee, there's no doorknob for a reason people!).

Oh, and at the beginning the Red Shirt science teacher (have we seen him before, I don't remember, was he the rash guy?) give the boat builders a quick lesson on monsoon seasons, wind direction and open ocean to the antarctic if they don't leave soon.

I think that covers the finer points.

Kate is probably my least favorite character. I wish she would decide whether to be good or bad.

 I've been wondering about the dog too. I also do not like Kate. At least now we know what she was talking about when she said she killed the only man she ever loved.

For Faren - this week's flashbacks were Kate's again. It shows the time before she went to Australia - apparently her mom was dying of cancer and she was trying to get into the hospital to visit her. Working at the hospital is an old childhood friend who was her "childhood love". he is now married with a little girl. The old friend arranges things so that she can get in to see mom, who is under police guard (Kate is apparently already on the run from the police). Before going to see mom, they have a "remember when" session and end up going off to dig up a time capsule they buried as kids. Two important things in the capsule. The little airplane which belonged to the boy friend as a kid and a cassette of them leaving the capsule in which Kate implies she may have been abused as a child and was planning to run away as soon as she could drive. When she gets in to see mom, mom starts screaming for help which brings in the police - they chase her. She runs to her friend's car - he jumps in next to her and tries to convince her to turn herself in (the police are holding guns on the car). She begs him to get out of the car - he refuses, she tries to ram the car past the police who open fire. Friend is shot she escapes.

Good for Sawyer (James Ford, is that what the cop said his real name was?) for telling Jack about his dad. See, I always said he was a good guy, down deep . . . really deep. Kind of like his dimples and that hot "lumberjack" body. He can cut my bamboo anyday.

That whole shipping out good-bye scene was nicely done and not too long, but was it just MY sound that seemed warped? Like a bad tape or something? Girlchild and I were trying to figure out if the warped music track was yet another clue in the continuing mystery or just on our TV.

Finally something is happening on this show. They've spent too much time explaining everything without explaining anything that I was getting bored.

PS. I want a Sawyer of my very own.

PS. I want a Sawyer of my very own. It's funny Kate and Sawyer really aren't all that different - they both have broken the law - they both are responsible for someone's death (actually Sawyer is worse here - he was trying to kill someone). Yet - I'm much more accepting of Sawyer than Kate. I think it's because Sawyer has never tried to hide what he was and Kate has made every effort to come off the angel - even after convincing Sun to poison Jin.

I can't see having the show's season ending without some of the main characters, so ....... how and why are they going to end up back on the island? I can see them coming back, learning more about "the others" and then trying to leave again, but to not have Michael, Walt, Sawyer and Jin there for the big confrontation. :( It just doesn't seem right.

spellwight
20th May 2005, 06:45 PM
Yeah, but we don't know they're actually gone do we? The island prolly has some sort of gravity-type field and they'll blunder around the edges and end up right back where they started.

Or like on the Truman Show, they'll just ram into the edge.

Or the boat sinks 100 yards off the beach and we just didn't see any of them in the previews.

Or there's some big monster in the water that slaps them down.

Or (enter your bizarre storyline here).

:D It is Lost!

I think the raft will get away fromt he site of land - float around for a week or more, then they will spy land again - guess where they'll be?

I'm still wondering why Walt said that they had to leave though.

Lady Arwyn
21st May 2005, 12:19 AM
I think Walt's saying that they *had* to leave had something to do with his warning to not open "the hatch". Whatever is in there, he doesn't want to be there when it opens.

Next week is the two-hour season finale. I copied the TV guide blurb and posted it below in white. If you don't want to be spoiled, don't highlight the following...

Something unexpected at sea surprises those on the raft; the remaining islanders try to blow open the hatch; a visitor to the encampment could be a threat to Claire's infant son.

And tonight is the night. The season cliff hanger. :hopping: :hopping:

Maybe we'll find out who was on the other end of the radio when Boone bought it. :D

Oh and FYI, maybe those weren't polar bears. There's an island off our west coast that is home to white bears. I think they're a kodiak with a genetic predisposition towards white instead of regular bear colours. The natives call them spirit bears and they want the island protected.

Lady Arwyn
25th May 2005, 04:48 PM
That's debatable. It seems to have something to do with Walt and his powers. There were polar bears in the comic book he was "reading", so polar bears showed up. I think they are intended to be polar bears, not white phase Kodiaks.

If we want to epoche Walt's powers and island wierdity and look for another more realistic explanation, I would guess that the polar bears were being transported to some zoo and wrecked there like everyone else.

I know they won't answer all of the questions tonight, but I hope they answer ONE!

I want to see Lostzilla, freeze-framed for close study. No quick flash that people can argue about all summer.

So far we have the bodies of the couple in the caves, the priest/drug smugglers, the french scientific expedition, the Black Rock people, and Flt. 815. Plus something large w/hatch underground.

The others are prolly a nice settlement of castaways and their decendents from the other side of the island. They stole Danielle's baby because she's a wacko who killed her crew and they feared for Alex's safety. They tell Wacko Woods Lady instead of Boogyman stories to their children to make them behave. Not-so-nice Ethan probably was cast out from that settlement and decided to get him a woman (w/child) to make himself comfy in the jungle.

You know, I don't understand why they haven't sent an expedition around the perimiter of the island yet. As soon as they had shelter and portable food and water, that's the next thing on the list. Not planting a garden or building a raft. They're making a number of assumptions without enough intel or conversation.

OK, I called that one. As soon as the French woman said they were after the boy, I figured out that they meant Walt. Walt is the one with the visions, and they didn't say "the baby", they said "the boy." Will the group try to return to the island? With Walt being taken back to the island, Michael surely will want to go back. And where the heck did the "others" get a fishing boat? And fuel? Why do they take some kids and not others, and why send a smoke signal that they are coming?

Regarding the shaft at the very end, I wonder how deep it is. I figure they will start dropping a rope to measure the depth and probaby won't find a bottom. Or it is deeper than any rope they have. But someone (probably Kate) will be lowered down. What is down there is another matter.

Whoa, the invisible monster is a cloud of smoke with a robotic arm that drags people into an underground den???? I remember Locke met the monster in one of the first episodes, faced it without fear and walked away. I bet he WOULD have been OK if they had let him go. Just walked back into camp a few days later. Or even the next morning. Why does Locke have to be so danged secretive??? He knows stuff but won't tell anyone. He is a major danger to the group in many ways. But I think everone on that island is in some way. Just Locke more than others.

They really played up the "faith vs reason" theme in this episode. Two conversations dealth with the issue, the question of being punished between Sun and Shannon, and Clare jumping in, and the discussion of the island's sentience (or whatever) between Locke and Jack.

So, is this supernatural, or is it a purely human plot of some kind? The question is left open through these discussions.

Arzt blowing up was cool. Blink and miss it. Good riddance.

I believe Sawyer is only winged and he, Michael and Jin will float back to the (nearby in the dark) island on the floaty leftover bits of the boat. But 5 years from now just before the show is cancelled, the bottle with messages will show up on shore somewhere and cause a rescue for the final episode.

I believe Charlie snagged a Virgin Mary statuette MINUS the heroin. He's Catholic.

New drinking game: Slam a shot everytime one of the "numbers" is referenced. 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 :hopping: Don't you wonder how many people have wasted a dollar on the lottery with those specific numbers?

Okay, so the others aren't a nice bunch of castaways and their decendents. They're a vicious gang led by the surviving drug smugglers! Was that a 16-year-old girl who tossed the firebomb?

Damn, Sayid is hot. Capable and hot. Now I'm spending equal time dreaming between Sayid and Sawyer. Sorry Sawyer. Though diving in the water to save the rudder ... and coming out soaking wet ... *sigh* put you a little ahead.

Just finished watching it...damn! It's going to be a long summer. I reallly didn't feel too bad about Artz either, until the end when they showed him helping a very pregnant Claire on the plane.

I agree about Sawyer - I think all three will get back to the Island safely, where they will meet up with some other castaways. That there are others is pretty much a fact. The actress that played the girl in the bar with Jack before the flight (the one who had a seat in the back of the plane) is supposed to be a regular next season.

I hope you're right about the statuette being minus the heroin or that he plans to give it to Jack for some medicinal use (kind of already wondered why that hasn't happened - you'd think they at least would save it in case another Boone-like wound occurs). I have a bad feeling about that though - too much potential story line usage to bring the addiction back into it.

I slow played and paused the replay tv - it definately was a girl with long blonde hair throwing the bomb onto the boat. She looked older than 16 to me - but hard Island life and being the only female amongst what looks like the rejects of Appalachia could make you look older than your years. Besides, it's never been established that Danielle's daughter is 16 - only that the signal was sent out for that long. Danielle didn't send out the signal until after her daughter was taken AND all the other members of her party were killed - that could have been a few years later, for all we know.

Not only the boat and fuel, but the weapons too - the big light and I thought you had to have some sort of radio signal to appear on radar. Well, once again we see that somehow Walt has some sort of telepathic connection with the Others - he knew he had to be on the boat, he just didn't know why.

I have to admit, I'm more of a Sayid girl myself, but Sawyer does make pretty nice eye candy.

Can you imagine what Hurley must be thinking right about now - seeing those numbers. I'd be freaking out and telling everyone real fast what those numbers have meant to him and those two other guys from his episode.

That hatch must be really old if there is only remnants left of the ladder that used to be there - so where did the weird light come from that Locke saw?

I think in most situations that's true - but on this island where weird is the norm...at least a few people would wonder about the connection between the numbers - especially as they keep popping up 4,8,15,16,23,42. I can't remember all the examples, but they were on flight 8:15, Boone and Shannon sat in row 8, Jack in row 23 and I think Kate was in 15 or 16...

I rewatched only the part that showed what Hurley (aka Hugo Reyes) was doing the morning of the flight. In that 5 minutes or so segment:

his hotel room is 2342
when his car starts going kerblooey the dash board readings are: 42K, 23 degrees C, 16 kph (which then chnages to 15 kph, then 4 kph).
he pays the guy $16,000 for his scooter in the airport
the flight is leaving out of gate 23
as he runs through the airport he passes a girls' sports team - their jersey numbers, in order are: 4, 15, 16, 18, 23, 42

As I understand it, they are adding several main female characters to the show for the 2nd season. Highlight the following for spoilers: Some (all?) of the passengers from the back of the plane will appearantly show up. Don't ask me how, but appearantly there were survivors. Maybe on another part of the island? The woman who Jack was flirting with at the bar before getting on the plane is supposed to have a major role in the coming season, and she is known to have been sitting at the back of the plane, the missing section that was assumed to have fallen into the ocean.

Appearantly they did very well providing eye candy for the ladies, the men seem to feel a bit neglected. Which is sad, because there was just as much eye candy for the men (Kate, Shannon -there is your bikini wearing sexy thing- and Sun) and now Clare isn't preggo anymore so she can be eye candy for the guys too.

I guess Jin is decent eye candy too. So it's Jack, Sawyer, Sayid and Jin for the ladies, and Kate, Shannon, Clare and Sun for the guys. Four of each, until the new cast members are introduced.

Faren

I've had mine pre-ordered on Amazon.com. :D

They've got it listed as Matthew Fox, contributor. WTHeck? Even Amazon has elected him leader? Me, I'd go with the either the wilderness geek or Iraqi ex-torturer as a leader.

Does anyone else hope that the new female blood means we get much much less of Kate? She serves absolutely NO purpose. Unless there's an award for the most overused line in TV history, "I'm coming too."

*SPOILER alert for those who've not watched much yet*
This is a long post so you'll really have to squinch your eyes and scroll mucho! ;)

Anyone else getting tired of Kate's long looks of quiet understanding that she seems to give any male within 10 feet?
LOL have you been talking about this since then!?? I don't get it either, she looks at them like she knows exactly what they're thinking - yelch!
Very interesting episode this week. I missed the first few minutes and walked in during a flashback scene and thought..Oh no...a rerun. Then realized the scene was from Jin's perspective. I still don't know why it was such a big deal that she couldn't tell him she spoke English.
Yeah I never got that either, though the only thing I can think of is because she learned it at first so that she could escape him and go to America or something no? And if she told him that she had learned it, it would have been something he hadn't controlled maybe?
?????????????????
One thing that wasn't explained. Why was Hurley on Korean TV? Would a lottery winner in the US really make Korean News?
Cool!! I didn't notice that the first time around - not sure why it would be on Japanese television, but sometimes we do hear over here about people who have won big in the lottery :erm:
 And Charlie getting offended when Hurley tells him he's worth $154 million back home. :D

:rofl2: That cracked me up so much when it happened!! Poor ole Hurley!
Anyone else crying buckets? I really didn't think my original guess was right (well, we don't know if Claire will name the baby for him). I really didn't want him to die. I wanted them to do the typical Hollywood ending where he gets saved at the last minute. I'm such a sap. :shake:
On the other front - did anyone else notice the missing umbilical cord?

Ugh yes, I hated when he died, I'm like you too Dux, good guys live, bad guys die, and no didn't notice no cord, did notice no afterbirth though!
OOoohhh! So this ties in with the back end of the plane?

That made me /really/ dislike Kate!! How selfish of her to even think about trying to do what she did, and not think that maybe the guy sitting in the car might get hurt! :shake: bad Kate!
*nod nod nod*
That's debatable. It seems to have something to do with Walt and his powers. There were polar bears in the comic book he was "reading", so polar bears showed up. I think they are intended to be polar bears, not white phase Kodiaks.

If we want to epoche Walt's powers and island wierdity and look for another more realistic explanation, I would guess that the polar bears were being transported to some zoo and wrecked there like everyone else.
Ooohhh!
Arzt blowing up was cool. Blink and miss it. Good riddance.
I missed that part of the finale last week! I thought they might show it at the start of tonight's one, but they didn't!!
Okay -I'm a geek. You know it, I know it - so it won't come as a surprise to anyone that I decdide to rewatch the final episode and check out the whole "numbers" thing. I knew they were used a lot, but...

And all that is in 5 minutes!
 :faint: I wonder if even the writers know what the numbers will really mean in the end!! :erm:

And now I'd just like to say AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH I have to wait until February to start watching season 2!!! :banghead:

The actress who plays Claire is Emilie de Ravin
Date of birth: 27 December 1981, Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia

Dominic Monaghan plays Charlie, the only other supposed Australian, and he's actually from the UK, but born in Germany
Date of birth: 8 December 1976, Berlin, Germany

None of the other survivors are supposed to be Australian. So there are no Americans playing Australians (except maybe the extras for the flashbacks).

The dude at the travel place with Locke - I can't believe how utterly terribly horribly /bad/ the accents were!! And I don't even like the aussie accent that much
The chick who plays Claire, she's a bit iffy also, since I'm pretty sure she's been in US for quite some time, I remember her as Tess from Roswell and I'd no idea she was an aussie until Lost, but sometimes her accent seems a little contrived as well... :erm:

Fortunately I took it will a grain of salt, since it is fiction after all, and didn't let the boo-boos get in the way of the story. But it still grates and takes away from the believability of it all.

Eucalyptus trees may come from Australia, but they were exported EVERYWHERE. In California the are so populous that they are considered an invasive pest with huge groves of them. I've seen them here in Colorado. I don't think I've ever been anywhere that didn't have the dang things. It's not unreasonable that they managed to make it to some little South Pacific island.

Yes, I am aware that the tree in question is very popular in the cut flower industry and that some eucalypts have been planted en mass around the world.

But please consider this is a remote and *lost* island that few people visit. I don't find it very believable that any species of Eucalytpus would be growing there. In California it wasn't planted for the cut flower industry. As a very fast growing tree that regrows after being cut it was planted as firewood. Also as an instant shade tree. It turned out that it makes horrible firewood, so people stopped cutting it, and now it grows out of control. Many groves that were planted to line roads are now entire groves, taking over entire properties.

It seems to me that this island has been inhabited by several waves of people, accidently and on purpose. Given the fact that it is in the South Pacific, not that far from Australia, it's not unreasonable that one of those many people brought with them a tree that they find to have pleasant scent. Or even brought along for it's medicinal purposes.

And remember, this is an island that has some wierd magical properties. Walt conjures Polar Bears, Locke conjures magical boars. Why not a tree? This show claims no logic. Only wierd things.

Actually, this theory has a lot of merit. people who seem to wish for something bad enough, "make" it appear. Walt wanted the polar bear to get back at his dad. Locke needed that boar to prove himself to be the hunter he claimed he was. Sun wanted the aloe to save Shannon. There was also Locke's whole speech to Charlie about how "if he believes" his guitar will appear, it will (yes, I know it was a set up, but it did happen) and Charlie did need his guitar to help him find the strength to get through his addiction. There is an argument to be made there.

:shhh: and of course, if you ask the producers that's what they'd say too. Because they would never admit that they made an oopsie. ;)

What the - ?! I've just explained the tree in question naturally grows only a few hundred km from where I live in Western Australia, there is no way a bird could carry it that far, they don't migrate that way (north-south to the northern hemisphere yes, not east-west). And as for people taking it, it has been shown by DNA analysis (very recent study of rats DNA to discover where the Maori came from) that the Pacific islands were colonised by Polynesians that came no where near Australia.

The tree that Arwyn is talking about is probably Eucalyptus ficifolia - uh, make that Corymbia ficifolia, somebody felt they had to change the name :irked: - a tree that is actually rare and endangered in the wild! It only exists on 2 acres of land down the the far south of West Aus yet now it's a popular garden tree over all of Australia and it's trying to take over the US! There's irony for you. I know of a few other local plants like that too.

So to me having those trees in the show is unreal, but as we all know weird things happen on this island. I was just taking an opportunity having a bit of winge about the sloppy research and props in the show, not that they make all that much difference to the storyline anyway. I guess most people wouldn't pick up on those mistakes, but there's always someone like me that knows the truth and finds it odd.

At least I'm considering Lost to be science fiction. We still don't have proof that anything was conjured out of anyone's dreams, or thoughts, or wishes. I'm not even sure it's a real island! That hatch led to a pretty deep underground space so maybe it's a space ship . . . landed here centuries ago . . . collected samples (polar bears?) . . . maybe not even stationary . . . yeah, maybe it's a floating island which is how so many things from different regions of the world AND time frames have landed upon it . . .

I'm just going along for the ride ;)

Not sure which one that is, might be E. camaldulensis, which has managed to be transported around the world (there is an interesting story about the naming of that tree but it's not relevant to the discussionat hand). But there are over 600 species of Eucs and I'm not good at identifying them en spec, but I have been told in some parts of California the C. ficifolia is a problem too.
