I seem to have read a fair few new authors who've written a good series or two that I've rather enjoyed and would like ot point out to the rest of you (though seems like noone's interested in the others LOL ;) )
So here she is, Marjorie B Kellogg, this series, called the Dragon Quartet is set on earth, the first book, The Book of Earth (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0886775744/qid=1107609525/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_4/102-2889652-2130509?v=glance&s=books) is set in the year 900 something with a German girl named Erde who runs away from the baddies and finds her earth dragon, yadda yadda story happens, second book, The Book of Water (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0886776880/qid=1107609525/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/102-2889652-2130509?v=glance&s=books) she and her dragon travel to the future (our future too) to find a young man who then finds his water dragon, in book three, The Book of Air (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0756400805/qid=1107609525/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/102-2889652-2130509?v=glance&s=books) they find their third companion and set out to free his air dragon, who is being held captive, and the fourth book, The Book of Fire (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0886779014/qid=1107609525/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-2889652-2130509?v=glance&s=books) and I won't tell you about the fourth one, you'll have to find out for yourself  :D

I have all four books in this series, but to be fair, she isn't a new author. I first read her in the 80s. The Wave and the Flame and Reign of Fire, which I liked very much.

In this latest series, I got bogged down in the second book. Have to give it another try.

Couldn't get a link going, but if you Google her, she has an interesting website.

Thanks Murph :D I'll keep my eyes out for more of hers books, and will hopefully remember to have a looksee at her site later. Do you think her Reign of Fire book is what the movie is based on at all?

Don't know Jax. It's been at least 10-15 years since I read it and I don't recall ever seeing the movie. Sorry about that. Try to visit her website. She's a really interesting person. :2cent:
