Ok, I admit it, I'm avatar-challenged :D Where can I find some other avatars besided the red dragon?... don't get me wrong, it not that I don't like the red dragon, but it's just not me :D

you can upload your own avatar... just get a picture and reduce to it to 100x100 pixels and upload it!

I was hoping for a website or something.... I'm not to good at reducing pictures and such..... I tried to e-mail a photo ONCE... it locked up my BIL's mailbox :(

What kind of avatars are you looking for?

Paint sorta works but it's hard to cut and paste things out of bigger pictures. I'm hoping this one works! I'm another graphically-challenged person.

Here's a link to an avatar site...

http://www.blackmaxpc.com/avatarsmiles/avasmiles.htm

Other sites offering free avatars & icons can be found by googling.

And in case anyone was wondering...Yeah, that's me staring out at ya.

However, as soon as I have the time I will put up a number of avatars. So in future you might have something to chose from :)

Very nice Lisa. The last photo of me that I really liked was taken over 10 years ago. I got my wolf from a poster site and just cropped it a lot, that might be an option for you if Hans can't come up with something. Highly unlikely mind you, but he is about 6 inches shorter from all the running around he's been doing. :D

Ah, at least one person noticed my sudden lack of height :)

I have added a few avatars (a few AMC ones even) and am hunting for more in between other tasks.

I discovered that if you use paint to add to your avatar it makes the pixel size larger and it wont upload~ lol~ I was trying to add personal touches to mine~ make it look like I'd painted her face~ lol I'll try again someday~

This is fun. I am still learning about graphics but I've learned that I enjoy doing this. I may buy a program so I can play some more.

Two questions:

* How can I make an animated graphic smaller AND retain the animation. I haven't been able to figure that out so far. The Avatar I am using now is a kitty cleaning herself, but the animation went bye-bye when I down-sized it.

* Second: What is a good (for both editing and animation + Hopefully inexpensive!) all around graphics program to buy/learn? I got "Picture it!" with Windows XP, and I believe it is designed for use with a straight jacket - automated this, automated that - very little creative latitude! I am an artist, and I used to enjoy playing with my daughters' Paint Shop Pro. The price of a new Paint Shop Program is amazing! :faint:

I love everybody's avatars! It is so nice to have a picture to go along with the personalities! Then I go and just use one of the avatars here on the site - but I LIKE this one, it suits me, and it matches my new siggy. :ok:

I was just shopping for a graphics program. Corel Draw is nearly $700. and Paint Shop Pro is $120. I'm going to do a free trial on the Paint Shop Pro - what the heck! Free is my price range!

Wow, Paint Shop is still around? I thought it was gone a long long time ago.
I thought when Photoshop steped in, there was no looking back. :faint:

You need a program to downsize gif's which can be animated. Jpgs cannot.

For basic image resizing, color correction, etc, use a program called irfanview. It can be found at download.com. For more powerful editing, use a program called "the gimp" it is essentially a free version of photoshop (that is how much power it has) The one downside: It has a steep learning curve.
Both these programs are free.:good:

Great information BZ! I will sample them instead. I finally gave up on the Jasc site - the download took forever and eventually I gave up on it!

I'm self taught on everything, but I've done pretty well with the palettes and layers of Paint Shop Pro. I enjoy a new tool to learn.

thanks!
