Ok. This is an odd question. Did Anne add the "e" on or was it there all along? I ask this because on the printing of Moreta: DL of Pern, On the binding, (printed in gold) it says:
Ann McCaffrey - - - - - - -Moreta:Dragonlady of Pern
/\ that is not a typo on my part. THat is actually what it says.

Who published your copy? Mine is Del Rey paperback, and it says "Anne" on it. In fact, I don't believe I've ever seen "Ann" without the "E". It's probably a typo on their part.

I agree, that was most likely their fault. On every copy of my books it is always spelled Anne. I have never seen it spelled otherwise anywhere else either.

I concur. Every edition of the books I own and that I've seen read "Anne."

it is a Del Rey Hardback. It has a laminated soft cover, but if you remove it, that is where it is.

Well I know we're all fairly sure it's a typo, but when we used to chat with Anne herself, she put her name as Anne, so I can say it's a fair statement to say that it is Anne with an e and nothing else :D

Interesting. I just checked my DelRey Hard back and the spine on it has the misspelling as well. And i agree with the others - gotta be a typesetting error or similar. I've got almost all of her books including several published several years prior to Moreta and all show the spelling "ANNE"

One of my books says Anne lives in a castle in Ireland. Heh.

Dang, mine have the 'e'. The ones without could be collectors items some day :)

Hey Neou, i think she does. I mean, all that money!! Every book says she lives in DragonHold. The Moreta book says it is in Wicklow County, Ireland.

She does live in County Wicklow, but her house is modern (built for her), & definitely not a castle!

My copy of Moreta says 'Ann' as well. I always have figured it is a typo.

All of mine do say Anne too...I'd have noticed otherwise. Got Moreta as a paperback though.
And Dragonhold does sound like a castle, though I know it's a hold.

Who makes a mistake like that? An innocent little typo on page 280, I can understand. But misspelling the author's name? Right there on the cover? That's bad, really bad.

I guess Del Rey makes a mistake like that; my copy of Moreta is also missing the 'e'. I've also noticed a mistake in People of Pern, the Author Bio spells Robin Wood's name as 'Robin Hood'. As in that guy in tights.

 thats hilarious! I'm wondering if that was a deliberate 'mistake' for a joke, hehe

I just checked my copy of Moreta and it also has Ann on the spine of the book. The dust cover and inside of the books all spell it Anne so whoever did the binding had to make the mistake. I wonder how many batches went out that way?

oh, i didn't pay attention to the comment "author bio"--i'll have to check that again
:banghead: "bad dobbie! bad dobbie!" :banghead:
but i do have "Ann McCaffrey" for Moreta, but all the other hardbacks i have are correct :erm: maybe the letter dropped off in the middle of a batch of covers???

You have got to be kidding me! Robin Hood?!? Too funny. I think my original Moreta had the E but it depends on how many of each that were done to determine the collectability status. I will bet that someone at Del Ray had a bad day when that mistake was discovered./

Wouldn't it be the person who designed the cover art?
All my books have the 'e'

No, the artist does strictly the art, not any of the print on it, thats added later.
