Would you want to colonize?

Okay - Pegasus Trivia got me to thinking. We are always posing that question of "Would you go to Pern, if one really existed?" and I was thinking about that in the Pegasus universe.

Would you be willing to make the long journey to colonize space? Especially being among the first to do so? Would having Talents available to do some of the transferring make any difference in your decision.

Personally, while I love the idea of being a "colonist" - being the first one somewhere out in space seems incredibly scary to me.

I wouldn't mind living on another planet, but I know my limitations: I'm not prime colonial material. I can't imagine myself as anything but a city/suburban girl, the agricultural lifestyle's not for me. I also am not a brood mare, so I'd rather live on a world where women aren't expected to produce five children or more. One or two maybe, but not more than that.

I wouldn't have a problem traveling in space, at least not if I was transported by FT&T.

I think I'm too old to be one of the first to colonize. Now if I were single and lots younger, I think I'd be willing to do it. I agree with Dux though, I'm not sure I'd want to be one of the first. Maybe the second. ;)

I would like to take on the new challenges as a colonest although it would be hard i would enjoy the challenge it presented

I would like to visit new worlds, but to be the first to colonize it NO. Way to much work.

I would most likely be to old to be considered to go, but I would like to.

Strangely enough - I do think if I were older or younger I would be more willing. Younger - before already having a family and all I would be a lot more willing to take the risk. Older I would feel a lot like an Emily Boll and figure I've lived a pretty good life. Being the first to colonize would be a pretty cool ending.
