Well, to try to let off a little steam, I though that politics might need its own, shiny, unsullied (for now) thread where all the ranting and gnashing of teeth could carry on in peace!
Have fun children!

Let's get something straight: I say **** all the time in my daily life. I am an adult. I graduated with a 4 year college degree with a minor in English. I have plenty of vocabulary to choose from, but **** is usually the one that fits. It's censored here because some people here still can't cross the street without calling mommy first. At other boards I post at, it isn't censored. The board automatically adds the stars, which puts it in line with the rules, so I will say **** here whenever I damn well please, and in the middle of calm conversations. I think the idea that some word are inherently bad is retarded, and anyone who is offended by a four-letter word is also retarded.

You shouldn't have to block me, you should be like any other normal person and not freaking read shit that'll upset you, and not freak out if you do. How Ryuu and I having a discussion affects your feelings, is beyond me (except to say maybe you need help). I am not going to tip-toe around and not have a conversation with someone because it hurts your sensibilities. I don't like to use "ignore" for that reason, but then, I'm not crying because I see something I don't care to read. I "ignore" it in my head, instead of trying to get everyone to cater to me.

No, dear, it means I was taught to think about how others would feel as a reflex. It's why I don't go around being disrespectful to people and also why I care about being nice to those that say "You know, I really don't want to read this in here." When I see people swearing and calling names, I automatically think "You know, I didn't like that when people did it to me." and it makes me upset. Unfortunately, since having the gall bladder out, when I get upset, I often feel ill because my system is a little touchy. It usually isn't a big problem, but reading pages and pages of people doing that or reading it OFTEN gets to me.

I ignore people the old fashioned way. By just skimming/skipping their posts. It's really not hard.

I can't skim worth crap. So if I want to know what someone is saying I usually have to at least read a whole sentence, maybe two, and by the time that's over, I've usually already processed the crap, I don't want to.

Really? Because I think we've been over how "dear" makes me feel.

I think you're being disrespectful by telling me to take my conversation elsewhere. I guess it's in the eye of the beholder, eh?
One, if you see people in a political discussion, don't continue reading. Two, I haven't seen anyone called names; although, Ryuu did give me his email addy, so I can do that now.

Pages and pages? You're the one that is continuing this discussion. Ryuu and I maybe had 8 posts all together, before we took it to PM.

And I have tried my darnedest since to make sure I don't call you that, now haven't I?

Problem is, you don't make the effort to earn respect by being agreeable once in a while just to show you even give a damn about how anyone else feels, so I have to open my mouth now. I have to wade through that stuff to find the tidbits of posts that people post on other subjects, and some times they are by the same people that in the political discussion. "Retard" and other things are name calling, sorry, you can't get away on that one. Saying "If you think this way, you are a retard" is still name calling.

The same 4 people have political discussions Spam thread after Spam thread. So get more pages in than the rest of us would like to even think of seeing.
