You can be a furry and a Christian... and manage it quite well by being a tolerant open-minded person... I'm not sure how they figure it... because if you want tolerance for yourself, you'd figure you'd offer it to others.

I used to spend a lot of time watching video games! Still do! Except I browse the web or read a lot of the time. Though one of the new PS3 games is awesome to watch! Assassain's Creed.

As it turns out, apparently a couple of students are trying to turn Toph into their scapegoat.

He's an 8th grade teacher, and one of the 7th graders got irritated at a teacher the other day and cussed in school. They were written up for it. Well, they went and got big brother or sister to lie for them and say Toph had said, "I hate this ******* class," when they whined to Mommy and Daddy. (Stars are on purpose. You can probably guess the word used.)

1) Toph would NEVER say something like that about his classes.
2) He doesn't use those types of words, EVER.

But, the school has to cover their butts, so there's an investigation into the matter. *ugg*

We're still hoping this isn't going to warrant a non-renewal because we're in desperate need of insurance right now, and we can't take a lapse. However, Toph is about fed up with teaching period and is checking into taking some HR courses during the spring and fall as a back up. We'll see.

All we can do is go one day at a time for now. I can snap up all the elementary school accounts in my county since there isn't another Usborne consultant in the area, and then I'll try to talk all nine or ten of them into doing a fund raiser with me this fall. That should bring in my old salary within a span of about four months if they all have an average participation.

Thanks again for the support guys. Today's gonna be buried under housework and separating two big orders, but I'll probably try to stop by sometime tomorrow or this weekend to catch up a little.

I'm very glad Mum's leaving (well she was going to chuck it in even before they said that they didn't want her back- she only stayed this year so her AS student (from one of the more sensible families) could do her AS Maths (the school weren't keen on a girl doing AS maths- bloomin' religious school). The kids there, if they got bored would just moan that the class wasn't fun and that Mrs X was a bad teacher and the parents would complain. And as they run the school, what they think goes! So that if they don't want to do their homework...

I'm very glad Mum's leaving (well she was going to chuck it in even before they said that they didn't want her back- she only stayed this year so her AS student (from one of the more sensible families) could do her AS Maths (the school weren't keen on a girl doing AS maths- bloomin' religious school). The kids there, if they got bored would just moan that the class wasn't fun and that Mrs X was a bad teacher and the parents would complain. And as they run the school, what they think goes! So that if they don't want to do their homework...

I am soooo glad she's finishing!

I'm still far too young to retire ... and can't imagine me in a job out of teaching. Some days you do wonder if it's worth all the hassel though.

As it turns out, apparently a couple of students are trying to turn Toph into their scapegoat.

He's an 8th grade teacher, and one of the 7th graders got irritated at a teacher the other day and cussed in school. They were written up for it. Well, they went and got big brother or sister to lie for them and say Toph had said, "I hate this ******* class," when they whined to Mommy and Daddy. (Stars are on purpose. You can probably guess the word used.)

1) Toph would NEVER say something like that about his classes.
2) He doesn't use those types of words, EVER.

But, the school has to cover their butts, so there's an investigation into the matter. *ugg*

We're still hoping this isn't going to warrant a non-renewal because we're in desperate need of insurance right now, and we can't take a lapse. However, Toph is about fed up with teaching period and is checking into taking some HR courses during the spring and fall as a back up. We'll see.

All we can do is go one day at a time for now. I can snap up all the elementary school accounts in my county since there isn't another Usborne consultant in the area, and then I'll try to talk all nine or ten of them into doing a fund raiser with me this fall. That should bring in my old salary within a span of about four months if they all have an average participation.

Thanks again for the support guys. Today's gonna be buried under housework and separating two big orders, but I'll probably try to stop by sometime tomorrow or this weekend to catch up a little.

As it sits right now, if Toph is able to beat this, not a single damned thing will be done about those kids! Right now, Toph & Annadale are damaged from stress alone, even if they have no other expenses related to this matter--and if they do have costs for lawyers or whatnot, they'll not ever see a dime come back for it.

Even before McMartin, we knew that kids can and do lie. However, a very vocal group got up and said that "children are innocent and never lie!"

All it takes is for a student to accuse a teacher & all hell breaks lose: the teacher gets suspended without pay on the spot, has to waste time and money to prove his/her innocence, and oftentimes fails and ends up bankrupt. And if they do manage to show they were dismissed without cause, they never get to recover the full amount of the cost to their career and lives. But in those situations where it's proven the student was lying, nothing is ever done about them.

These are SERIOUS allegations that cause REAL DAMAGES simply from the allegations!

Now I realize there are times where the students are telling the truth, and so the solution is rather simple and elegant: treat the situation just like any other criminal case involving an allegation against an officer of the State! And why not? After all, teachers ARE officers of the State, just like judges, just like cops....

...but guess what happens when there's a bogus accusation against a cop: the person making the false statements are charged with perjury (under the provisions for making false statements to officers of the court) AND have to repay the state for the costs of the official investigations--this often includes the costs that the State is required in back pay to the wronged parties owed during their suspension--AND, in addition to that, they're subject to civil lawsuits from the wronged parties.

It's a simple solution because the problem is simple--it's elegant in that there are precedents and procedures already in place for handling similar situations--& it's just because it's fair under the Constitution and is simply the right thing to do.

On the news last week was a case where 3 or 4 students beat a teacher I think for sending on girl out of the room. The teach was badly enjured. The school said that the teacher was wrong for trying to make a student do something. None of the other kids in the class tried to help the tracher. The students were back in school the next day. No charges were filed against the teens.
I think that there should be vido cameras in ALL the class rooms & on busses. As well as in the hall & cafaterias. At least that way when one of the innocent angles say something did or did not happen there will be prof. Also when a student is bullied then the bullies can be caught.

Kibby got her scores from the distric competion today. She got a 99 & a 97 out of a possible 100. The one were she got a 99 she was marked down for organized speech. I do not know why they marked her down for that.
