PLEASE READ FIRST

Welcome to the Spam thread! This thread has one reason – Spamming. All posts must fall within site guidelines (obviously) and NO POSTS MAY BE MADE AFTER THE FIFTIETH PAGE (2,500 posts).

Whoever posts the 2,500th post (the last on page 50) starts the new spam thread.

Apart from the above, anything goes. You may post as much, and whatever, you like. Many posts are contain ‘Spam!’ and subsidiary terms, such as ‘Spamsanity!’. There is no requirement to read anything posted in the periods between your last visits.

Post counts do not matter. Spam is not intended to be a race against time or for high post counts. Please do not try and one-up each other, and do NOT quote post counts in large amounts.

Still working on The Regicide, but I've also got another plot-bunny on the go, inspired by a discussion elsewhere on who gets searched, why they may not wish to stand, and why the Weyr may not want a particular Searched candidate.

Oh, and I've thrown in a recent plague just to keep Bronzie fuming...

I won't get TR finished very soon - it's gonna be a biggie - but the plotbunny should get tidied up and finished during my trip to Paris next week.

Kath

Exactly.

Bronzie, if you don't ever stretch yourself you'll never be capable of more than you are now. Anything with the potential to cause personal growth is a Good Thing, and should be seized with both hands, no matter how hard it seems at first.

Hadn't cancelled them, and got the wallet back today, cards AND £30 in cash still intact :wohoo: And mother thinks I am too trusting  Not everyone is a raging thief, and anyway, to access the card you need the pin.

Stress is a BAD THING (tm)

We went up to Blackpool and then mooched around asda before going to the carvery for lunch. sadly I had to go to werk after that. Jax headed back over to York.

You are lucky to get them back. If it is only a cash card, then I guess they aren't good for much really. It's debit and credit cards you need to cancel quick smart.

Agreed

Hopefully that was fun :)

If you had heard half of the shit that goes on during that shift that his supervisor has to deal with, you wouldn't blame him for having to really think about it.

:hide:

It required a bit of a harder hand than in currently being used and a lot of damage has been done that will be sort of hard to reverse. Hard to explain, but Bronzie would know what I'm talking about.

Sounds like a tricky thing for him to pick up. I'm sure he'll make the right decision. Only he really knows what it is like there after all.

Title time?

Spam - The WLT's sworn enemy!

:giggle: it's not that bad!

I'm tired. Worn out. Stressed to the point of me rather wanting to stay home and drug myself to sleep rather than deal with the assholes and morons at work. I've already come close to getting myself fired and I'd rather leave on my own terms.

That's really not good :hugs: It is vital not to get fired though if you can possibly avoid it, I'm sure that you know that.

cosmic dancer
2nd June 2008, 05:27 PM
*is not amused with internet provider at the moment* ALL INVISIONFREE BOARDS are coming up as "server not found" and everybody else using other internet providers in my area can get to the damn things. If they have a block on the ******* server to keep us from accessing invisionfree boards I will be even madder than I am right now.

Why would an internet provider block that sort of thing? I'd be amazed if that is allowed.

Now to find some money to get to the next conference in July. If I can get there, it will be free (admission and room+board). The trick is getting there... two weeks after I get fired from my current job.

Any ideas how to manage that?

[Obviously, the less prestigious the show, the less strict they are.]

That makes some sense. The need to tell which legs are your and which belong to the horse is logical, some of the rest (e.g. hair net or not) seemed a tad excessive!

I hoped that would be that case.

If I were having that daydream as a teacher, probably yes to both!

I just wish I had a bit more time to prepare. I know I do a good job and that I'm the most qualified and responsible of the employees they have, but I never would have thought that it would happen so soon. I mean, who gets the biggest promotion they can possibly get after a single year of their first job? But then that shows that it would be a huge missed opportunity if I turned it down.

It would mean a lot better pay, which would definitely help Kalina and me out, but it couldn't have come at a worse time. If only it had come a few months later after Kalina had settled in... she needs support after making such a huge move and feeling so out of place, I can't afford to not be there for her.

Exactly.

Bronzie, if you don't ever stretch yourself you'll never be capable of more than you are now. Anything with the potential to cause personal growth is a Good Thing, and should be seized with both hands, no matter how hard it seems at first.
I completely agree, ever since I first started this job I was determined to climb the ladder, and I was really boosted by the fact that I was already one of the best workers on the night crew after just a couple months. But such a huge advancement so soon is kind of overwhelming.

If I take the job, there's going to be a lot of stress, but then if I DON'T take it, whoever they get for the job might cause just as much stress if he's a crappy manager.

She's a big girl. Moving countries is tough, true, but she'll have you there with her, which she doesn't have now - it's all swings and roundabouts.

Question for people in general - in a new place, does doing things/working things out on your own/with other newbies mean you settle in faster or slower? I'm leaning towards the former - if you can lay claim to a new place yourself, you feel less like a visitor.

That is a lot of driving! :faint:I checked this morning, it was at 723 miles, but I forgot to set it until I'd been driving for a while when I left, so maybe another 10 or 20 miles on top of that...

I don't know, everywhere I've been I've done some stuff myself, and been shown some stuff by others, and it works as a good combo to acquaint me with the new place. :)

That's really not good :hugs: It is vital not to get fired though if you can possibly avoid it, I'm sure that you know that.

Yeah, I know.

She's a big girl. Moving countries is tough, true, but she'll have you there with her, which she doesn't have now - it's all swings and roundabouts.

I'll have him if and when I'm awake and/or not working when he is!

I may be a big girl, but I will have NOTHING outside of him when I move, and I do not fancy being by myself the majority of the time after a huge change in my life. I do not mix well with being left on my own in a depression. Yes, I will settle in eventually, I know that, but I need support when it first happens and talking on the phone with my mother or best friend in lieu of my husband being with me won't do it. People handle things like this differently... I happen to be one that needs someone there and with me. :sigh:

I don't want him to take this because he feels obligated to because of the others on the shift. I want him to take it because he feels 200% sure that it's the right thing at the right time. And no one accuse me of trying to hold him back, alright. I'm trying not to think of the fact that I might be alone even more, even though I'm in the same bloody house that he lives in. No one can sway his mind outside of what he feels is right.

ANd I won't have a job for several weeks...

edith
2nd June 2008, 10:07 PM
Okay I lied. So I'm not permanently back yet...but I'm trying! :cry3:

:hugs:

I still can't speak German.
I have a baby on the way.
I'll be on a train to Paris this time next week.

I think that's most of it!

I still can't remember more than please or thank you in Dutch- it is sooo much harder than French

Cool :)

:ugg:

:hugs:?

I just wish I had a bit more time to prepare. I know I do a good job and that I'm the most qualified and responsible of the employees they have, but I never would have thought that it would happen so soon. I mean, who gets the biggest promotion they can possibly get after a single year of their first job? But then that shows that it would be a huge missed opportunity if I turned it down.

It would mean a lot better pay, which would definitely help Kalina and me out, but it couldn't have come at a worse time. Go for it!

If you can do it, it'll be great. If you can't, at least you've tried!

Well, I have had a very productive (read - expensive) morning. Got up, added a few features to the new lappie, greeted Steve the guy doing the floor in the kitchen and left him to it while I wandered (yes I did walk there, it is only 3-4 miles) into town. Got the time sheets faxed off so mum and I will be paid at some point in the next 3 weeks and then went a wandering. I bought a new pair of trainers in Millets that were on sale at £45 and two pairs of jeans in New Look (they have started doing a 32" leg :woohoo: (31" is too short on me and 33" drags the ground  )) went into Smiths, got a fathers day card for dad, ended up buying national treasure 2 as well and then into M&S to get yogurt and fruit. Then bought a new diary and address book as mine are decidedly tatty and the diary is a mid year type. Also put the camera with the zoo pictures in the developers. Now all I have to do is post some parcels and my To Do list will have shortened considerably :D

*pops in* I am officially a Wendy's employee. Making $7.15/hr but also getting 35-40 hours a week and shall have health benefits. Orientation was yesterday, it took two and a half hours. (I get paid for those 2.5 hours too) Today is the first official day of working. I go in and get trained today and tomorrow on general stuff and then starting Thursday I'll be trained for closing.

About the only people that might catch me online after work starting Thursday are the REALLY late night Americans and the Overseas crowd. I won't be home and online until like 1:30 or 2am EST. Today and tomorrow are only until 8pm, so I'll be on to bother you all!!

That sounds like a productive day to me  I like days like that :)

I'm seeing the doctor on thursday morning anyway, and they'll be doing all the usual bloodwork as well as checking my BP and weight. It's a common enough complaint that I don't think it's worth stressing over... yet. Anyway, I've had the odd moment today when I've felt almost as if I'm drunk, but mostly I've been fine. Taking things easy seems to be the key.
