Those names I can understand. But would someone like to explain the end of that book and why he tells Channa to call him 'Persephone?'

Been a while since I read that book, but I would guess that he was facetiously referencing the Greek myth about Persephone, goddess of the underworld.

Yeah. She goes to the land of the dead in the beginning of winter and comes back in the spring. I guess he's sarcastically referencing his return.
