For those who know how to play, standard Sudoku rules; but watch your zones since it's rather hard to display them here.

I'll post the solution on Monday
--note: in some of these games, it may be possible that there is more than one solution, as I have seen in cases where all four corners of a rectangle could possibly have the same numbers filling them.

If there's more than one solution, it's not a true sudoku... ;)

If there's more than one solution, it's not a true sudoku... ;)I remember there was one in a newspaper where the only blocks left formed a rectangle, something like this:
| | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | |
| | |A| | | |B| | |
| | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | |
| | |B| | | |A| | |
| | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | |
where either of the 2 missing numbers could go in A & B--that puzzle was rated one of the hardest, btw, but I had found it easy up until those last two numbers.
Whether it's a true sudoku or not isn't my concern--call it a 'variation' if you must
Did you at least solve these?

:blink:Damn! Posting these solutions was harder than doing the puzzles :erm:

I don't usually bother with standard sudoku these days, as they're not really challenging enough - give me a killer (http://www.killersudokuonline.com/) instead!

While I was in Beijing, I was learning to play several of the variants. One that I liked: Samurai Sudoku (http://www.clarity-media.co.uk/samurai-sudoku-5grid.pdf). I've only seen a few papers publish those.
A quick search found these sites for variants:
http://www.sachsentext.de/en
http://www.saidwhat.co.uk/sudokus/sudokufaq.php -- a list of mostly pay-for sites, but at least mentions the Samurai & this Shogun (http://www.clarity-media.co.uk/megadoku.php) beast looks nasty!

Yeah, but Samurai is just a bigger version of the same thing. No real increase in difficulty, just a longer playing time.

I am with you Kath. I prefer the more diabolical sudokus. In fact I only ever do grandmaster advanced ones which start at hard and work up.
I would have posted one here but just could not get it all to line up properly.

I'm with ya also, Kath. Killer sudoku and kakuro now have much more appeal than standard sudoku.
