View Full Version : Planet HereWeGoAgain

Yonuh Adisi Fiend Jedi
6th October 2008, 10:16 PM
After the unexpected self-destruction of the planet George, Henry, or Fred he cannot remember what the name was of the last planet he and his erstwhile friends had tried to colonize, Yonuh flies through space in his star ship heading towards the next available planet on his list of possibilities.

Scanning the rather short list, Yonuh notices a planet just galactic south of the Horse head nebula.

“Hhmm, this looks interesting.” He plots a course and engages the jump drive.

Four hours later, he comes out of jump space and enters a geosynchronous orbit of a mottled purple planet. Sending probes out to sample air, water, and soil he waits for the results.

Time Passes…

The reports seem favorable and with some surprising photos of ruins. According to the data obtained from reliable sources before heading out, this planet had once been inhabited but the in habitants had wiped each other out over three millennia ago.

“Okay, I reckon I’ll take a look.” Yonuh then takes the controls and prepares for atmospheric insertion.

With powerful blasts of superheated air, the repulsor engines fire and Yonuh brings the craft to a soft landing on a meadow of purple wild grass. Yonuh immediately begins to initiate his survey procedures, he sets the ship for continuous monitoring of the atmosphere while he gets his personal gear for exploration of the immediate vicinity.

Four days pass, and all signs are favorable.

“Time to make the call.”

To all possible colonists, Planet HereWeGoAgain is open for colonization, coordinates to follow.

Yonuh then sends the coordinates and awaits the new arrivals while continuing his own survey.

Purpura
7th October 2008, 05:18 AM
Purpura and her spacecraft, The Chocoholic, take up a geosynchronous orbit, and then a landing craft shoots down toward the purple planet, with Purpura aboard. The Chocoholic sends down reports of what other anomalies are in the system if any.

Purpura sends out a radio message claiming this world seems rather purple, and she likes it. Of course the message is sent to Yonuh first, then up to her ship for record purposes.

Lyra

Lyra in her lime green spaceship Antifreezer received the coordinates. She did a fly by to take a look. She was quickly turned off by the purple everywhere and with a flick of a switch disappeared to go find a less nauseating planet.

ValAnn

Hailing planet HereWeGoAgain! ValAnn of the good ship Biblos requests permission to land and assist with exploration. I bring books...lots of them...real ones and recorded ones. Interested?

The artificial intelligence that runs Yonuh's ship answers the hailing call from the Biblos.

"Attention Biblos, I have been authorized to grant permission for landing. Yonuh is off exploring the living desert region. Just pick a spot and set down. Welcome to HereWeGoAgain."

Cadence

As Cadence drifted along in her rather small ship, Mandarine, something on the control panel began to flash. Vinni, the winged fox who had been snoozing on her lap, noticed it first and, after several attempts, finally got the girl to awaken. The message was listened to and coordinates punched in and soon they were at the rather purple-looking planet.

The small ship was set down in an oddly blue marshland and its two inhabitance walked out into the open. Cadence was the first one out, stretching in the light of the system's star and taking in the strange new scents. However, Vinni wasn't quite as bold. "C'mon, Vin, it's really nice here!" Said the girl, turning to face her friend to stood worriedly in the doorway of the open hatch, continuing to walk, though backwards now.

"I-I dunno, Cad, something just doesn't feel right," complained the fox as he finally decided to make his way down the ramp.

"What do you mean 'not right'? this place seems perfectly nice to meEEK!" Suddenly, something rose up under Cadence's feet, throwing her onto her back. Vinni dashed over to aid her just in time to see the slimey creature lift up its front (or what they figured was its front) end, the circular mouth lined with jagged teeth turning to face them.

"What in the name of the Earth is THAT?!" Yelpped Vinni, jumpping into Cadence's arms as more began to rise out of the ground that had now shown itself to be mud.

"G-giant leeches?" Cadence ventured, watching as the rest of them turned to face the two, "Not good," she squeaked. Oh, gods, why did she never have her plazma blaster when she needed it?!

ValAnn

ValAnn gazes about, surveying her handy work.

Books unpacked, shelved in proper Dewey order, computers updated. All is in readiness. The Library is open!

Now, to go outside and see what there is to see.

Hmm...very dry. Better research water sources on this planet, pronto. My stores are getting low. Must have water for the coffee shop.

"AI, darling, where is the nearest potable surface water? Current location is 1 mile north of Yonuh's landing site."

The AI generates it's normal purr to indicate thought, and then speaks in ValAnn's preferred baritone, "There is a marshy area here."
A map appears on the screen. "There is a ship landed there, and several life forms clustered. Shall I prepare the Book Mobile for travel?"

"Yes, AI, upload the coordinates of the marsh, and get the little guy ready. I need to get out for a while." ValAnn checks her equipment, including the plasma blaster (because one just never knows), and proceeds to the small shuttle. Before she gets in, she turns on her heel, goes to her storage locker and fetches forth a liter bottle of her latest homebrew. Weapons are useful in their fashion, but ValAnn would rather be friends than enemies, if possible.

After a message is sent to Yonuh's ship, informing him of the lifeform activity, ValAnn takes off and arrives at the marsh just as the main part of the cluster began to converge on two other figures. She lands neatly, and exits the craft swiftly, blaster in her right hand, beer in her left.

"Can I be of assistance?" she asks the humanoid figure lying in the bluish mud.

"Some help would be nice yes thanks!" Cadence said in a strained voice, watching as a couple of the huge leach-like this turned their....head-ends toward the newcomer.

With the worms distracted, a reddish blur of fur bolted from the girl's arms, dashing behind the legs of the other offering help. "Vinni, you coward!"

ValAnn
9th November 2008, 06:15 AM
"Wow, this is a pickle," muses ValAnn, taking careful aim at the nearest of the nasties. "I don't normally shoot first, but..." And with several short blasts she clears a path from the entrance of the Book Mobile to the one still in the mud. Slugs fly in all directions, landing with messy plops in the mud about ten meters away.

ValAnn sets the beer bottle just inside the door, squashes her way to the prone figure and extends a hand. "Shall we skedaddle?"

The AI's baritone rolls from the interior of the Book Mobile, "The lifeforms appear to be returning. Please enter the ship for take off." The engines begin to wind up as slugs begin to converge on the three.

ValAnn, not waiting for another moment, grabs the arm of the humnoid, scoops up the small warm fuzzy, and boogies in to the shuttle. She hits the emergency door lock and points to the copilot chair.

"Strap in, this may be a little rough. I am sorry I do not have restraints for your friend."

After two neck snapping jerks the little craft was airborn. ValAnn sets the AI to make for the ship, and turns to her guest. "Well, that was more fun than I usually have in a week. Are you okay? Do you need medical assistance for your friend or yourself? I have basic first aid on board, and a more comprehensive medical computer on my main ship. By the way, the name is ValAnn."
