Hatching at the Refuge (open to everyone!)

Torceyeth curled on the Refuge's hatching Sands. Right now, her rider had braved the heat to sit on her foreleg...a slender, delicate strawberry blonde with a ton of freckles.

The gold's eyelids suddenly opened one, two, three. A moment later, one of the eggs began to just slghtly shiver.

That was enough of a clue for her mate, a bronze so dark that he appeared black from any distance, to descend.

And where, are my Candidates?

That would not be a problem, for the Weyrwoman, Ivria, had thrown this Hatching open to all comers. The gates were open and dragons teleported in by various means from all over the multiverse.

Kit got Neirlth to land outside the hatching Grounds just long enough for her and Nat to slide off. The Silver Queen took off to the heights to sun now her duty was done.

Kit and her Winged sister entered the Grounds and bowed to the Queen. "We wish to stand for your eggs Golden Queen."

Silver, drawn by the imminent hatching sneaks quietly into the cavern. "Hey Reine. I heard there were new babies to bond. Mind if I stick around?"

As she dips a bow to the Golden queen her brown ponytail falls over her shoulder. Her marble colored eyes taking in the quivering eggs. "I seem to be here early."

Torceyeth lowered her head to sniff towards the three arrivals so far, and any others that might be on the Sands.

One of the eggs, though, demonstrated that they were not early. It cracked open to reveal...a jet black hatchling. Whether it was really a darkened bronze like its sire or a true black was as yet unclear. It creeled, then regarded everyone there. Especially its mother, who got a long, interested look.

[Silver]

Silver smiled at the black hatchling. "He's beautiful, I don't think I've ever seen a dragon that color before."

[Purpura]

Purpura flew in from above blinking in from 'Between' landing several feet away from the hatching site, and morphed into her human form. She ran her hands along the dress she was wearing and it became a plain white gown.

"Greetings, may I stand...?" Some of her smaller creatures flew behind her, and then went to sit on whatever was closest to watch their human get some new friend.

Kit smiled at the black hatchling. *Welcome Young One*

Nat watched the hatchling stare at it's mother but stayed silent with her winged tucked in close to her back.

The black lifted its wings, then turned to regard the Candidates. It started to pad towards Kit...

...and then a different dragonet hatched, this one a true, perfect bronze. Charging across the Sands, it almost bowled the black over, inspecting Kit, then Nat. Hrm. Girls. Only girls.

Stymied, the black changed course, eventually falling in a heap at Silver's feet. << Silly bronze. But she wasn't quite right anyway >> It was definitely a female dragon. << I am Tilieth. Can I come home with you? >>

Two dragons flew over the hatching grounds. One was a blue, the other a grey colored dragon...a steel Lenthean. Both descended a bit away from the eggs.

[Purpura]

Purpura watched the other dragons come and she smiled watching to see what was going to happen, and also kept looking over at the eggs.

[Silver]

"I'd love it if you came home with me!" Silver laid a hand gently on the top of the dragonet's head and smiled. "First Tilieth, let's get you something to eat. I know your food in your egg must have run out a bit ago no?" She led the hatchling over to the side out of the way and picked up handfuls of meat.

<<I am hungry... that smells good!>> Tilieth opened her mouth and Silver giggled as she dropped bits in to be chewed. As the hatchling's stomach finally became full, Silver sat on the edge of the sands and let Tilieth lay her head in her lap drowsing.

"I'll get you home as soon as your clutch sibs have hatched, alright?" Her hands made little circles on the dragonet's back just between the shoulder blades.

<<Sleepy>> Tilieth murmured as she dozed not really paying attention to what was around her. After all she had Silver now to take care of that for her.

Kit watched the Black come towards her and then turned away as the Bronze charged around. Kit smiled, *Good luck little black* Kit then looked at the Bronze, *Welcome little one. You have lots of energy*

Nat continued to stand just outside the circle. She watched the hatchlings but said nothing to them.

[One Pony]

*Late again* grumbled One Pony as Charnath dropped gracfully to the ground Ridranth and Lia's blue beauty a breath behind. One Pony rounded up Tia and Tara the twins now 15, Larz 16, Mitch 16 as well as Bright Feather Brian, Dolly and Lia and hurried them into the hatching grounds. Dandy and Emmy darted insde making for Kit and her family. Stopping as taught they all bowed to the Queen and introduced themselves. The brothers Mitch and Larz were new to the ranch and had not riden dragon back before were a little wobbly but quickly rallied.

Aha, the bronze seemed to say, and charged towards...oh wait.

Two boys, both would be...he wanted *both* of them, but his instinct said he could only have one. Eventually, he pounced towards Mitch, to see what he would do. He'd pick the one least intimidated!

A third dragonet hatched, this one a green with silver stripes on her wings and flanks, quite the attractive creature, in fact.

The steel rider stepped forward. "I wish you could get some of these people to take some wher eggs. Bloody things..."

The bluerider, a girl, nodded, and then set down the egg sack. It contained some...non-standard wher eggs, they seemed a little small and were jet black, every one of them.

"Not sure what laid these, either..."

Kit held her arm up for Danny and Emmi and fed them tidbits. She smiled over to Onepony and the others and then laughed out loud when the Bronze bounded over to Mitch. She moved closer to the Ranch family and tugged Nat with her.

Nat followed Kit but hung back, memories of the recent hatching and the events that happened there were still clear in her mind. She tucked her wings even closer to her spine and then watched as the Green hatched.

[One Pony]

Mitch and Larz saw the bronze headed toward them and remembered their lessons. They stood together a few inches apart hands open palm up to show they meant no harm and minds open welcoming thoughts. Mitch took a step forward and said. * Well my fine young sire you look ready to take to the skies*. Larz stepped forward as slow as Mitch did so as not to startle the youngster. * A fine sight you will be in the skies.* * Mitch said * I sense a little tug in you and not sure which to choose*. * Do not worry as Larz and I share in each others happiness. Larz said though you choose as your heart tells you all will love you as part of the family.* Mitch nodded enough that his brother thought it would pop off. Both of them sent images of the Fire Ranch and all their inhabitants. Meanwhile One Pony and her group made an informal circle to include Kit and Nat. Dandy and Emmy stroked Kits cheeks with their heads and made little cheeping noises. Brian's Bronze landed on One Pony's shoulder and made small fluting sounds of concern and peck her cheek in the direction he wanted her to look. Seeing Nat's unease she moved over and put an arm around their friend though not confining enough that if she wanted to move away she could. * Come and join us Nat we need your help.* Bright Feather needs a dress and cant decided on a color and she has NO taste. * I tried to tell her to wear red but she wont listen to me*. One wanted to give the girl a easy feeling being with the group and show her that nothing had changed in their feelings for her. Brian chimed in *Oh sure so she can blend in with all the other Red around the Ranch*. Geez I'll never understand women* Bright Feather obviously trying to change the subject said * OH eggs well take some there is always room at the Ranch*. Dolly always up for teasing her foster mother brought the subject back saying * Oh don't change the subject I think Yellow is your color*. * A bright sunny yellow like the Teaus flowers.* Bright Feather unamused gave Dolly that I'm going to kill you look. Dolly just smiled and moved closer to Kit and Nat hoping that the two would save her if Bright Feather decided to take a stick to her head. Lia just watched the whole thing and tried not to laugh. The twins Tia and Tara stood on the edge of the group and kept their eyes on the hatchlings to enamored with them to pay any attention to the adults.

Ginny with Rika rush in! Ginny who had on a white robe on and her Animal Healer Kit, and Sack looped over one sholder Journywoman knots on the other shoulder. Rika who can tell Ginny is reacation to the emathy of this hattching transmits to all who can hear him. Sorry we are late!!

Ginny After droping off her sack/kit to one side of the grounds and getting a drink of water from her flask. She turns and bows to all "May I stand also?" Rika also bows too.

Purpura was still watching and waiting to see what would hatch next. "Welcome to the world little ones." She whispered, eyes intently watching the eggs.

Ginny via her new bond frend Rika (who its patting to keep cool) and her own empathy with tears running down her face as the high level of emotion reaction send to the newest hattchling Greeting young ones!.

She also see a few of the others she met at the Gala hattching, and 'waves from where she is standing', Rika send his and his bondmateGreeting once more, I hope things are going well for you!. Rika see Ginny still looking winded from their run 'reaches for Ginny's water flask and tugs a few spare cloths towards his bond firend' Here my friend, Ginny 'takes herself another long pull from her flask and pours some water in small cup she added to her flask for Rika to drink from'. Rika laps up the water quicky sending [I]Thanks I too need it!/I] Ginny takes the cloths he sent to her 'noding her head in thanks'. Rika 'returns the flask and cup back where he had gotten from it early on'. Ginny still watching the hattching 'wips away some of the tears from her face and wait to see what happens next'!

The green with the silver stripes hesitated. Then she padded slowly towards Kit and Nat. She studied both of them, then shook her head and, instead, made her way to Ginny.

Two more eggs cracked open at this point. One revealed what at least seemed to be an ordinary brown. The other held a smaller dragon who shimmered an odd mix of red and gold, metallically sheened. Sort of...brass colored.

They looked at each other and then began to walk across the sands more or less in unison.

The black eggs seemed to catch the mood. Now one of them was shaking.

OOC: I will post what's in the black eggs probably tomorrow. My RL crisis seems to be over...for now.

Purpura looked first at the brass and brown hatchlings and smiled towards them watching them walk across the sands. Suddenly from the corner of her eye she saw some movement she'd not seen and her attention was turned fully at the shaking black eggs."Wonder what's in those?" She had moved to get a better view of them when they had caught her attention, and she said the words near One Pony and her friends.

The brown walked over to Kit, the brass to Nat. They glanced at each other, then at the two. Then?

They switched places. << Sorry, my Kit, we got a little confused >> the brass, clearly male, sent. << I am Toruth. >>

The brown, to Nat << And I am Moruth. We wish to stay together, and the two of you will help us do that. >>

The first of the black eggs cracked open to reveal what appeared to be a bronze wher...except it was the size of, oh, a lab puppy. It shook its head, clearly confused.

Purpura smiled in the direction of the wher shaking his head."Hey don't worry, we're all here to help you find someone to love you." She giggled at his expression."You got moved in your shell but still we're here."

The diminutive wher started to pad over towards Purpura, but then got distracted as another egg hatched...

...dragon egg, that is. This one was a gold, and the bronze pup just stared at the queen as she arranged herself, because, after all, everything had to be right before she found her rider!

Purpura turned her head looking in the bronze's direction and her mouth went in an O of surprise as the gold emerged from her shell. She took a breath as she had forgotten to breathe for a moment."How beautiful," She whispered.

Tia and Tara were standing near Mitch and Larz breathless waiting to see what the little hatchling would do. Mitch nad Larz not wanting to push the little one away just stood sending love and welcoming thoughts. The twins attention however was distracted as Kit and Nat impressed. The whole group congradulating them. The girls saw the Bronze and sent him encouraging thoughts and smiled a bit at the antics of the proud Gold. They all knew she would be a handful but that she would have a good heart. One Pony was distracted as she again had to ask Charnath if she was alright. The Gold egg heavy as she was, had ignored her rider when One Pony told her to stay home. The dragon was bad temperd and would not settle down. Charnath had spent the whole time making sounds of discomfort and would not sit or lay down for more than a few miniutes. One Pony had told the stubbern gold that they should have stayed home and repetely told her that they should leave. Again she was ignored. One Pony was admiring Kit and Nats new friends when she heard Charnaths plaintave and worried roar and ran outside to see her go between. Panic took over as her mind searched for her. For several minutes she searched finding the Queens mind and getting nothing but confusion. She called for Emmy the little green was very attached to the gold. Lifting an arm for the little firelizard she let her settle then looking in her eyes told her *find the gold one Emmy*. *Find Charnath and then come back to tell me. Understand?* Emmy gave a cheep and took off. One Pony was worried it was before Charnath time to clutch and not knowing where the gold was she couldnt help. Bright Feather, Brian and Lia had joined her and had to prevent Ridranth, Cortath and Mara Lia's blue from going to find the distressed gold. They would all have to wait.

Kit felt One's distress and went to comfort her friend with Toruth following her. Nat stayed close by, her wings slightly open should she need to fly to help Kit's friends.

Kit put a hand on One's shoulder. "I'm sure Charnath is fine. She may have just gone to find somewhere more quiet"

One Pony stood outside and tried to act as if it was not a big deal. She failed big time. She gave Kit a wry smile and put an arm around her friend and waited for the green firelizard to return. Return the little one did arrowing in on her and bugling her distress with Charnaths Soul Dragon a moment behind. She was able to finally get the green to land on her arm. Stroking her she lifted her to eye level and inserted her mind into Emmys. She saw teeth lots and lots of teeth. She saw the gold snapping her jaws at the little bond roaring and snarling. Now she panicked. For Charnath to try to eat the little one was unthinkable. They were inseparable. Charnaths soul dragon was doing ariel acrobatics that were becoming dangerous trying to get her point across. As she couldn't talk to her One Pony called her own to communicate for her. She shuddered a little as the dragon emerged. Mya rose to meet with the other soul dragon and in a intertwined dance got the information that the little one could not express. *Mine* said the dragon * the gold one is in distress and is upset and angry* *She could not reach home and went to ground because of the pain of clutching*. *She is in the mountains somewhere and frightened and will let no one near.* One Pony ran off calling for Ridranth. She tossed Emmy into the air and told the little green to lead them to the gold one. Emmy chitterd angerly and darted back into the hatching grounds. Growling under her breath she mounted on Ridranth and told Brian to stay with the others. It was up to her to find the dragon before predators did and get her home without getting killed.

The bronze kind of sighed and padded over to Lars instead, even as the dragon made its final choice...Mitch, the other brother.

A pair of identical blue dragons hatched next, glancing at each other. And more of the tiny whers...a brown and a green...also cracked their shells.

Silver smiled at the tiny whers. Tilieth's head was in her lap sound asleep with a light snore. She stroked her hand over the little black dragonet's head as she watched the others in the multiple clutches bond with their chosen.

After feeding her new friend from the bowl that Rika had provided for her new dragon, she simles nd waving to the others, saying to her new dragon "Forieth come on lets get you clean up and oiled!

Rika, who 'reaches for Ginny stuff next to the entrance also snags another smaller bowl of meat for Forleth, sending towards the hosts of this hattching If Ginny new dragon friend is full, I well have this bowl for I am also reacting to the "hunger pains" via my bond with Ginny!. Rika turns and 'nods his head' twards their hosts!

Rika and Ginny who pick up the call at the same time. *Rika places carefully the bowl of meat along with Ginny pack/kit and answers the wherkin call* Ginny, Forieth,and I Rika well wait for you! Ginny simles at the two of and answers Rika respondes to the green wherkin aloud "More new bond friends and parinter would be grand!"

The green wherkin moves at slow place letting the new one to dry out from hatching egg. *While Rika is bring the green wherkin to their group Ginny sends to Foriath I have a lot of love to go around! *Ginny reaches for the smaller bowl of meat that Rika had add to what he was 7carrying* "Here is some food for you what is your name? *Outloud the green wherkin say* "I don't know would help me pick one? " *Ginny nods heds her head and answer *"I well think of something anyone of my friends bonded to me have any idea let me know!"

Rika *reaches for table with the bowls of meat are placed and grabs three more.sending* For the hatchling, Forienth if she wants more, and myself for now I am picking more 'hunger pains' with my bond with Ginny and this new one who join us!/I]

As Ginny feeds the green wherkin, Forieth who smells the meat too, reaches reach outr to paw a few bites for herself, as she reaches for it she nicks Ginny hand with her newborn claw overshoting the bowl. Ginny, Rika, the new green wherkin react at about the same time Ginny and green wherkin Outloud "Ouch" Rika give a yip of reaction to this, Forieth respond o them all [I]

Before Rika can reach for Ginny's healing pack the green wherkin 'licks up the blood from the cut, and the new bond was added to the group.Then outloued to the green hatchling she replies "You could have asked me to share the new bowls of meat!" After that, a little numbeweed for the pain and a banage, everyone clams doawns in the group! Ginny replies to the green wherekin early asked question with "I think I may have come with a name Ginwsh (say as Gin-wish) as a name? The green wherkin cock her head and say "Ginwsh" it well do Ginny!

Ginny pats her dragon with her now banaged hand saying "Its OK buzy as I was with adding this the wherkin Ginwsk to my bond I forgot for second you also may feel hungry too, I was going offer some mor to you too, not too much for you don't need to sick on me overeating". "To Rika I hope were understand to her. Rika I was not harsh just told her I would have shared with her and the green wherkin!

She giggled softly and then beckoned them both to follow her, and she got meat for both of them."We'll take turns on getting you both fed now..." She scritched both of them on their eye ridges as the brown and the gold started nudging at the first of two large meat bowls in front of Purpura.

OCC: Fire Bird gave me some fire lizard egg in a different thread. And I am going to add to this thread, if any hattch while I am gone just do me a favor let me know what type hattched out and leave one. There are 10 left.
IC: Ginny who was buzy feeding her bonds, had a funny feeling she frogot to check on some related to eggs. "Eggs oh no the fire lizard eggs that I got form Fire Bird!" Rika respond with a puzled look Which ohe is that Ginny, I did bring a large padded sack with had 11 eggs of some type in they are save and warm yet, I well go an check on them for you, be right back! He stops and noses a large furry sack he had careful place in a warm hollow of sand as he and his friend was entring the Hattching Ground. They are OK yet Ginny. I have careful moved them out of their sack and into the warm sand here to keep them warm so they well hatch. No cracks yet![/I*Growing a bit their is a lot of action going on around here right now!* [I]Sending to their host Ginny is not this forgetful but the stress is show up! If any of you would like a fire lizard egg let Ginny ! *He had carefully 'lifted' out of their pockets in the fured sack and placed the 11 eggs in a crircle placomg warm sands over them while Ginny is buzzy whith her new bonds to her link. *Plasing the sack where it well get warm once more. He could tell they were geting hard and not quite ready to hatch my the tip of his nose. He got three smaller bolws
of meat for the new bonads, sending on to Ginny and keeping one for him self. Keeping a ear out from movement from the now covered eggs. Ginny food for your new bonds and eggs are fine myself I am going have a snack to reachare myself *Ginny waves her hand in understand as she pick up the new bowls of meat.*

The last dragon egg hatched, a very rich, deep green with almost a metallic sheen. She hesitated, then padded over to Larz. As she did so, though, a blue wherkin pounced on her tail, hanging on it, coming along for the ride! It detached itself and fell in a heap at Mitch's feet.

The wherkin were hatching thick and fast at this point. Another bronze, three greens and then the clutch's queen.

The greens ended up in a wherpile, then separated, streaking in different directions. The bronze padded over to Tia.

The gold also made her choice remarkably quickly, heading straight for Silver. She tried to glide, but didn't get very far, landing in a heap that as highly undignified for any queen.

Finally, two greens found themselves in a tangled ple at Kit and Nat's feet, with the last one pouncing on Tara's boots and starting to unlace them!

OOC: ANd we're done. I figured I'd wrap this up so everyone can go to ONe Pony's without distractions ;)

OCCL Well I found One Pony thread first and just add my entry to it returning to here to check on the action. and to finsh tying up my part of the thread. on to Fire Bird's Thread we goo. PS these dragons must be fast growers or something like that for I hope OK I am going between with my green dragon and with the wherkin follwing me.

Rika who had early eaten and retuned to keeping an eye on the eggs. Done! the eggs are hard but not a hatching hardness yet so I well pack them up to take along with us. *Put actions to words he pack up the 11 eggs up in the carry sack. Sending to the hots of this bonding your eggs are way of saying thanks for your host us, I hope you done mind get them from us later when is problem is hopeful fixed. Then he heads out for here he had left some leather harness in carry nests, that Ginny had lefts outside the hatching grounds along with another carry net with the llargers things Ginny would need for healing dragons. He found Ginny skywood wlking stick she had from the start jounrey and pawed out a right size sack for carry to their next adventers.

Kit and Nat smiled gently and then helped untangle the Whers. Kit took her female and gently put her next to Toruth. The brass sniff the wher and then gently settled a wing over it. "I think i'll name you Suirsk"

Nat did the same with her green and Moruth curled round her. "I'll name you Baursk"
