I have just found this forum, whilst trying to track down a book...

so a little introduction from me..

I have been reading Annes books since the early 80's (I think..)

and at that time read all the availalbe 'Pern' novels, and have over
the past couple of years tracking the series down again, complete with the new ones, and re-reading them, (I still need to get 'Dragon's Fire) in chronological order.
I have also discovered the Doona series, and are halfway through them..

I also have some Hap Henrikson sculptures... including
Zornak the Elder and
Let Sleeping Dragons Lie...

I play guitar in a local band, play snooker, love competitions and am a bit of an extrovert....

Welcome, come join the outsanity of the Willet (Where you can be potted to add to being deep fried) and Spam!

:spambash: S--m isn't all that bad if you like a fast paced, no sense thread:whistle:

The WLT under Fun and Games is as much a blowing off steam thread as it is a welcoming group of people from all walks of life (not that the Lounge isn't, but it doubles as a diary for some that like comments).

Welcome to the NKT (New Kitchen Table) as the OKT (Old Kitchen Table) got broken :(

You'll find people of all ages and backgrounds here from all over the world. The youngest member is...I think Paulita's daughter but I don't recall what her screen name is or if she just hops on to her mother's account.

You can find people from Finland, England, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Antarctica (although I think she is in a different country now), and other countries.

'Lita's daughter is Mousling and she just hops on her mother's account since she's still a toddler.....

Hey there and welcome to the outsanity!

Thanks, Silver, but I didn't know if she had her own screen name or not. Her typing skills are improving though from her last post. She actually used the space bar for a change. :p

Actually, there is a big range of ages though and some of us have grown up here. I know that a (currently) infrequent member by the name of Faren has had her daughter go through middle school and start high school while here.

Don't forget Mawofone and Kibby.... and then there's Pernie, she was 14 when she started and she's in college and engaged now.

Very true. At the other end there are some that have retired, some have sadly passed away, and some that will never retire no matter what happens and everyone in between.

By which he means, come to Spam if you want to have fun, go to the willet if you wanna deal with a bunch of rules.

Samarra, don't make me pull out my big hammer of wham-o. :P

Actually, they are two very different threads. S--m is like a chat room with tons of random stuff while the WLT focuses on discussions and personal events, jokes, and sightings.

I don't think you've been to Spam recently! I participate in them both, and there's not a huge difference except... RULES!

SPAM just happened

Hello and welcome, Mal. With all the talk about youngest members, I guess at the other end of the spectrum would be the group that includes...... me. At almost 62, I think I'm nearly the oldest here.

So don't be afraid to post, post, post.

Welcome to KT. I think my daughter is the youngest registered member at 13. My Mother is also a member, altho she post very rarely and is 72. We do have all ages here.

I like both spam and WLT. Over all we are a nice bunch. I hope you enjoy your stay.

I gave up trying to play guitar in the early 60s...... which doesn't make me feel any older than I already feel, because I am old. But you playing that long and liking snooker makes me feel a certain kinship. That, and I would like to hear your versions of certain of your list of songs.

Welcome to the site Mal :) I started reading Anne's books in the early 80s too (Dragonsong, March 1982, & then all the others available at the time (Pern anyway), & the rest as they came out).

Being the music geek I am, the first thing I looked at on your site was the gear page ;) I'm (as the avatar would suggest) mainly a keyboard player, but play bass too (1978 Rickenbacker 4001). & occasional guitar, though I don't currently own one. Oh, and there are another 7 keyboards that wouldn't fit into that pic ;)

Gryphon, don't tell me 62 is old. Here it's not old enough to retire and I'm still a student. I'll think about being "old" about 80 - maybe.

Mal, welcome.

The trick is to never grow up. I revel in my age. Like I tell the inmates, "you only hope you look this good if you live this long."

You come to the WLT if you enjoy bad poetry. :DTo be honest, Spam now has a bunch of rules, too--still only half as many as the WLT--the biggest difference is, nobody cares if you don't follow the Spam rules

Welcome from another of the "oldsters." In my time here (and the OKT) I have seen a daughter through the trials and tribs of University life, graduate, go through the perils of job searching, finally get a good one, get married and even have two children. Gosh, it really has been a long time, hasn't it?

Silver
18th May 2009, 04:32 AM
hmmm I joined, got married to a member for a few years, moved across country twice with said member, got divorced and moved cross country (sort of) to get home. It's been an eventful 7 years hasn't it?

Funny, but I see it the opposite way. I don't mind growing old so long as you never expect me to grow up!

I have managed to upload to youtube some video clips of our first gig...

Im the eldest on the bass guitar, but probably the one that has not grown up quite yet... as you will see a natural introvert....

Just click on one of the videos from this link (http://www.youtube.com/user/deepfriedmal)

Enjoy
