The Other Authors' Forum has been a source of great information and recommendations since its inception a couple of years ago. I hope that it will continue to be so here on the new KT :D

If you guys are looking to point to a particluar book, I'd welcome any use of the Internet Book Database of Fiction. While I can't promise every book is on there (as we are only human, and very time constrained humans at that).

You can link to series, book, author, genre, or whatever else you want to link to.
