Well, boys and girls, the hatching is scheduled to start...today! I, for one, am trying not to bounce out of my seat. :D Now, it is too late to submit candidates of your own for this particular clutch, but we do have quite a few adoptables that are looking for a good home!

Also, at Carubi Hold, there's a fire-lizard clutch up for grabs! Something like twelve eggs in all, and I think we still have seven positions open. As a mod, I know a little something about this clutch, so trust me when I say you definitely want a persona in for a flitt from that one. :ok:

The new Apprentice to the Weyrharper, Klarquel, owns a gold flit who has just had a mating flight. Which, of course, means that there will be a clutch! However, this clutch is planned to be the first ever live hatching at Cove Weyr! We've a chatroom, and we'd love to use it, and I can't think of a better way how than to play out a flit hatching. Maybe someday, if we get enough members and they can all be on, we'll do a dragon hatching...

There has also been a rumor or two about one of the two adult queen whers having a run sometime in the near future. While I can't say if or when it's really going to happen, the appearance of more wher candidates might prompt a wher run for eggs. ;)

Well, Salenth's clutch was quite a success! There was a single dud egg, and a moment of extreme panic when it looked like the queen egg wasn't going to hatch. Luckily, with the help of her chosen, Aterith was able to break shell and give Cove Weyr a new queen! The grand total was twenty five new weyrling pairs, including one snobbish Lord Holder's daughter who feels that she was cheated out of the gold when blue Qulth chose her. Cove is also host to a mysterious new weyrling by the name of S'rae; unSearched, it seems, and nobody knows much about her.

We have quite a few adoptable weyrlings at Cove; right around half of them, actually! I do believe we have at least one in every color (except gold), and they're waiting for a good home!

New candidates will be accepted at Cove when gold Flareth rises...which, from what I understand, should be quite soon! So, if you want a candidate (or two or three), then now's your chance.

All is going well at Cove Weyr...for now. There are rumors of a group of rogue dragonriders, though little of them has been seen. Are the rumors just that; nothing but idle speculation? Or is this potential threat simply waiting for the ideal moment to show themselves?

If playing a dragonrider isn't to your liking, then by all means, make a holder! Or a crafter, or a trader, or a wher handler. We've got all kinds of positions open for play, and hey, if we don't have it...let us know! Chances are, it could be arranged. ;) In fact, I think it would be rather interesting if someone were to invest in the building of a Dolphineering Hall. Cove is right on the coast, after all! You think that might be a worthwhile venture, Mai? :D

I want to say something, but I cant... (too much of a plot point... oh never mind) k, here it is. At our forum, every once in a while, we will have a topic in a place not near cove. We have a special forum for this, and we are about to have one. It is going to be about a convent with the Weyrleaders and Craftmasters, and it will be about the fact that the Weyr has to Pay to have crafters stationed there. It will also be about the fact that Ista (and the new weyrleadership of Ingen... However you spell it) Is trying to kill the Weyrleader and weyrwoman of Cove. So make characters for this!

We're also once again accepting candidates for Flareth's upcoming and much anticipated mating flight. A new sport had come to Cove, as well, and rumor has it that she could also be rising within the sevenday...

You remember those rogues? Well, they just showed that they do mean business; Weyrleader R'ven was led into a trap, and nearly lost his life to green Ysujith, a young dragon driven insane by the mind of her own rider. K'tet is a HAD...but he didn't know that until he Impressed. The sudden onslaught of draconic noise ever so slowly drove him off the deep end. Something dark in his past forced him from his native weyr, and he joined up with the rogues in the south. Ysujith might be insane, but she is also exceedingly cunning: she very nearly succeeded in turing R'ven into the Pernese equivilent of mincemeat.

The only bit of good news out of the whole ordeal is that all of the rogues were captured...right? K'tet and Ysujith are the only known escapees, but what if their were other rogues that didn't take part in this plan? Perhaps Y'vin, the ringleader and metallic-hating bluerider twin of bronzerider Y'rl, kept the majority of his force hidden, in order to prevent his group's complete capture.

There's also some good news at the Wherhold; Laylisk ran, and was captured by bronze Kilisk. We're waiting for the clutch now, so it's a very good time to be a wher candidate!

Flitter clutches are available at both Carubi Hold and Cove Weyr! The one from Cove is also scheduled to be a live-chat hatching...if we get enough interested people.

The rogues have struck again! This time, they had the audacity to sneak into the weyr in the dead of night, and go after a few of the weyrlings; the metallic riding ones, to be exact. The only good thing that has happened thus far is that one of the assassins was far too eager to do her job; her kill-happy nature saved the rest of the targets' lives, though poor J'nul and his bronze Keth gave their lives to be this early warning system.

The attackers were apprehended, and one even stabbed, and though weyrling goldrider Clarra was stabbed, the wound was said to be non-fatal...or is it? The woman who stabbed her, a dragonless rider by the name Gitara, claims that the dagger she used had a poisoned blade.

We need candidates! I was left in the dark as to the nature of Flareth's flight; it turns out it was done 'off-camera', or not played out. This, of course, means she's due to clutch, and her clutch should hatch very soon! So, bring in your candidates! You can have as many as you're capable of playing, as long as they all get played, and since I've no clue just how many eggs are going to be in this clutch...well, the more the merrier!

Flareth clutched, giving Cove sixteen brand new dragon eggs! Bronze Relth is the sire, and nobody was surprised by that fact. There's some discussion as to whether or not there's a queen egg; unfortunately, Flareth is extemely broody, and hardly even lets her own rider near her eggs, so nobody knows for sure yet.

I'm still not sure when the hatching will be. I need to discuss the matter with my fellow admins, but I'm pretty sure it won't be long from now! So, get your candidates in today! As many as you can play well, and we'd love to see well over the sixteen needed for this clutch.

Also, don't forget we're going to have a wher clutch soon, and I have on very good authority that there's going to be a queen egg in this one...

This club is so interesting. I started back in March (I think) and there are so many topics to get involved in. New characters arrive so often that you'll never get bored with the same old people. Relationships get more interesting as teh turns go by, and you won't believe what the male Weyrlings are planning...you just have to come by and see!

Just a bit of advice for this and your other Weyrs--

It's really working against you to advertise more than every two or three weeks, and to make random posts just to bump the thread. Both can be quite annoying and keep potential members from considering to join.

Instead of having several members post after each other at the same day-- put anything new that has happened at the Weyr into one comprehensive post and keep it at that. It's no need to use several posts to give out the same information(what about making a gossip page at your Weyr for people to look at instead of posting such things here?).

Back to Cove News! That elusive hatching that I've been talking about is finally getting planned. There isn't yet a set date for the hatching itself, but we do have a deadline for candidate questions sheets. What is this question sheet, you ask? Well, it's simple; we Admins, as powerful as we are, do not have psychic powers. This sheet is your way of telling us what color you'd prefer to Impress, whether you want to name your own dragon or be surprised, and what you want your candidate to be called should they Impress and become a weyrling.

The deadline for this sheet is July 24th. If we don't get a sheet, your candidate will not Impress. If, for some reason, you don't get the sheet in before the cut-off date, PM one of us three Admins (Isra, Ravien, or Maiken), and we'll see what can be done.

So, if you want a shot at Impressing, get your candidates in today! We do have an abundance of females, so male candidates are more than welcome.

So, our latest gold weyrling is an NPC. Why? Because we, the Admin, in an attempt to draw more members, would hold a contest. Anyone is eligible (except for us admins, of course), as long as you meet these simple guidelines:

-You are an active and productive member of the club.

-You do not already play a goldrider in the club.

-You can post with substance, IE your posts are descriptive and well-written. We seem to have fallen into a one-liner slump as of late, and I'd like to see that change.

Simple, isn't it? Want to know how to enter? Well, here you go! Simply fill out the given form, and PM it to any of us three Admins (Maiken, Ravi, Isra) by August 10th, which gives you two weeks. If we get all of the applications that we feel we're going to be getting before that date, then we will announce a winner sooner.

Cove has, unfortunately, hit a bit of a slump. We appear to have around twenty or so members, but in reality, only five of them are consistantly posting. To make matters worse for us, the player of our senior Weyrwoman has gone missing!

For those of you who would like to play that elusive Weyrwoman position, however, this is a very good thing! The admins of Cove Weyr have decided to hold another contest, which actually has two parts. The player of our current Weyrleader has expressed wishes that he not hold the position when we determine our next senior queen, so this rank will also be up for grabs.

The hatching is four days away, and we still need candidates! I myself will be starting the clutching shortly, so come on by and take a gander at the strange looking eggs of Salenth's second clutch.

We've also just finished with an eight month time jump, in which a lot has happened. Just before the jump, Weyrlingmaster V'quen was ambushed by our local gang of rogue dragonriders, and the encounter nearly killed Rilsamurth, his dragon. The only bit of good news from this was the death of H'gar, leader of the rogues... but is that such a good thing? Rumor has it that another bronzerider has filled his shoes, one far worse than H'gar.

Also, Salenth's first clutch is a turn of age, which means many things. First off, there's that exilerating first flight for the dragons, and later, even though there is no Thread, firestone training. Of course, looking ominously in the minds of the weyrlings is that very first trip between; will everyone make it through alive?

What will happen to the rogues under their new leadership? Will Cove Weyr be in even more danger due to J'dell and his sinister ways, or is the bronzerider all gas and ash? And what will become of Salenth's second clutch, sired by bronze Zarath, which gave Cove a new Weyrleader?

We have a young queen from the first recovery clutch of Cove Weyr..and she is due to rise VERY soon! This will be her maiden flight! We need older((but not too old)) bronzes and browns to chase her, and have the possibility of WEYRLEADER position!
