Does anyone else wish there would be a follow up to this book?

it finished in a way that opened up all sorts of possibilities for future books :)

besides, i liked the way you saw how ships were designed

Would be happy to see a sequel myself, H. ; but then I want another Petaybee book, too....really want to know about Yanna and Sean's children.

I'd enjoy a sequel to Nimisha's Ship, as well.

Pat, I seem to remember someone posting on the OKT about another Petaybee book coming out about Yanna & Sean's twins. :bouncy: If I can remember, I'll go find the post and re-post it here.

Okay, found it! :bouncy: It was posted by Pam on Sept. 16, 2004:

The new Petaybee book is only about halfway done, so they're not quite sure what all is going to happen yet. The twins are fostered out to Marmion on her spacestation for awhile and then return to Petaybee after some crisis on the station. There will be otters, and reappearances of the characters we've grown to love. There will also be a discovery of what seems to be ruins of a Pre-Intergal-terraforming civilization. The first book ends when they're ten or eleven years old, which gives them time to grow up in the next two books in this trilogy.

Here's a link to the thread while it's still there... :) (http://forum.annemccaffrey.org/showthread.php?threadid=19564)

I'd love a sequel to Nimisha's Ship. It'd be nice to know more about the Sh'im.

If there is a sequel, I'll have to reread the first book.
Would be a good idea though.

The new Petaybee book is done now, with a draft turned in to Del Rey. Expect it to take 6-12 months for the book to be released.

From Elizabeth Ann Scarborough's site:
OVER THE VOLCANO: The first in the series about Sean and Yana's twins, Ronan Born For Water and Murel Monster Slayer Shongili, selkies like their father. In this book the twins, with the help of their Snow Leopard and Track Cat nannies, Coaxtl and Nanook, and an inquisitive otter with "hundreds of relatives" explore their dual nature as seals and people while exploring their planet, coping with the invasion of strangers, and with their own exile.

There's also a thread on the subject in the Petaybee forum.

I am just lusting after new reading material. Though the end of NS was left wide open. Remember the comment from Jon about a shipping lane or something?

And yes I look forward to seeing what happens with Sean and Yana's kids. I would like to hear about Buneka's travels too.

I'm with all of you for new reading material. All my books are well fingered (or thumbed!) and I am ready for more.

I have not broken down and read any of Todd's books yet though.......would you recommend them?

The way I read Nimisha, I recal thinking that there must be a sequel on the way... It just felt like a beginning rather than an end, yet it all seems so distant now! I can but hope we'll be seeing more! Maybe once this Petaybee book is finally on the shelves...?

Just re-read it after a few years. It does beg for a sequel. There's the unknown ion trail, and all of Nimisha's children growing up. The Sh'im home world needs to be found and oh there are lots of loose ends out there.
