I just reread To Ride Pegasus for the first time in a long time. At the end of the section "A Womanly Talent" it is revealed that Ruth Horvath is pregnant again. I wonder what that family was like? Did Dorotea become a brat when she wasn't getting all the attention? Whatever happened to that sibling?

I don't think she became a brat. Dorotea was an old woman by the time Pegasus in Space -with Peter Reidinger came along and Rhyssa Ap Owen was head of the Talents... Doesn't mention her siblings there either but I'd assume she became like a grandma character... Read the books need to reread again...

I think you can be a brat as a little kid and still grow up to be a nice granny! I'm just wondering about their family life, in the first family with children they knew to be talented!

There's an interesting Lost Era.
It would be nice to know what happened, now you mention it.

I don't think it's said what happened to that sibling? It would make an interesting book: Dorotea's childhood :)

I agree. It would be nice to have a story filling in the time between To Ride Pegasus and Pegasus In Flight.

There WAS a mention about her "BROTHER" I think in the last book... he was a director of one of the other groups of talants... his name was mentioned when Rhyssa Ap Owen was trying to convince the other dicrectors to help find talents for the space station...
Dorotea never was a brat as a child... her mother kept a very firm mental grip on her daughter.. surpressing her brattiness before she could even get it started... Dorotea showed a talent at a very early age for picking talented people out of a group of hopefulls... they said she gravitated towards those with talant and the others got sent home ... but the adults never let on that was why Dorotea the baby/toddler was in the room full of people....

I agree...I'd also like to know what happened between them getting Beechwood and having to deal with Zeusman

And I'm sure they never told Dorotea either until they were certain she would understand. By which time she would have been able to keep quiet to.

Miklos Horvath was her grandson.

You know...I always wondered if Rhyssa Ap Owen was an ancestor of the Rowen......R-Owen as one posibility of a hint, and the other being that darn lock of white hair that Rhyssa had that all of the Rowen's children had as well....
Just a thought....

The Rowan was named for the mining town she was found in, her actual name is Angharad Gwyn.

Oh, I KNOW that is what the book says, but authors sometimes gives hints in their books to relationships and I always thought that those might be hints.
Know what I mean?

They are probably related, possibly having an ancestor in common. However, the Rowan's parents emigrated straight from Wales, whereas Rhyssa was an American of Welsh extraction (unlike "Daffyd" op Owen who was Welsh). It's not completely unthinkable that a wealthy Talent with the ability to go anywhere instantly would go to a less populated area, even though all human emigrations so far have been from the countryside towards the cities.
