Are you talking about a junior Queen or The Weyrwoman of a Weyr? If she was a junior Queen, nothing would happen. She lays or doesn't lay clutches, she is still a Gold Dragon, she can still fight thread. Remember an older Queen doesn't lay clutches either. If it was The WeyrWoman though, I would think she'd have to step down, just as an oldster would have too.

In the case that I rather suspect inspired the question: A junior queen who's only laid one clutch, her first, which has turned out dismally (ten dud eggs including a gold, many of the ones that did hatch are unhealthy.) The flight was normal and long, the clutching normal, the eggs by all appearances normal until the last week. Yes, it's a Pass, only a few years in, so this queen could be expected to have a laying life for most of it, barring injury/death. Clutches usually average around 20-odd eggs (most are NPCs, we don't really care as that's just more available as backdatable for anyone who wants one.)

This queen DID have a VERY traumatic experience in her life months (or years, depending how you view it in terms of relative time) before she rose. She was near due to rise when, though a pilot-error mishap (her rider's "directionaly challenged', though no one knew how much), she was 'lost' between and reappeared ten turns ahead (in the Weyr's present, her future), and because she never came back, she never went back, ergo she stayed. She was then 'late' rising, but otherwise appeared normal.

Note: I am not this queen's player, but I am the Weyrleader's, so what we're going to do with her partially depends on her player (OOCly) and partially on what would logically be done ICly.

So what about a junior gold thats never risen/clutched, and she's already into say... her 5th or 6th year?

I think the same answer would apply. She would remain as she was... she could still fight- maybe even with Firestone since it may be obvious by then that she's not going to reproduce- and her rider could still do the same jobs as before... just nothing to do with clutches

Yes but that doesn't exclude flamethrowers Crispy, ALL queenriders flying the low-altitude wings fill an important role by catching the thread the higher wings missed.
