Anyone read Watership Down? I've reread it almost as many times as I reread the HP books. :D I just LOVE that book!!!

I've read Watership Down many many more time's than I have read HP. :) It's one of my favorite books which is odd since I usually hate anything that has animals as the main characters. I think it's because they are just normal animals and don't dress up or anything.

I've also tried reading Maia but it's really quite hard to get into and terribly looooong. Hopefully someday I'll get through it.

Oh yeah, and Tales from Watership Down. It's pretty good too. Except a bird pooped on my cover so it's kinda worn away where I had to wipe it off. :ugg:  :erm:

It's an old favourite of mine, too, although I haven't read it for a while. Time for a re-read, then! :tilt:

I liked Tales of Watership Down especially the parts with Flyairth(sp?) whose name I don't care for but how she is a "magnetic" character, kinda like one of my friends. Btw, did Kehaar poop on your copy?

Anyone watch the movie of Watership Down? It was okay...

I thought it was kinda creepy myself but then that was a few years ago so maybe I need to watch it again. I don't think that's a movie that someone can do well unless there's a lot of computer work involved.

I couldn't get through the first couple chapters of Plague Dogs. But I've read and read and loved and read some more Watership Down and Tales from Watership Down. I like how it is long, yet never gets boring. And I really liked Bigwig getting the does. That part was...great.

I'm about 2/3 through Watership Down. It's marvelous! The writing style reminds me a bit of Lord of the Rings, which I like. Definitely on my favorites list.

I'm dying to see the movie, but I can't find it anywhere :(

Read them all, except "Tales from...", but Watership Down is still a firm favourite. It's remarkably free of the sentimentality that haunts most animal-centred stories.

I've read and enjoyed Watership Down and The Plague Dogs. I just couldn't get into SHardik though.
Filmwise- I keep missing it! :irked:

I like Watership Down, though I haven't read it in a while. I haven't read any of his other books.

Agreed. I read part of it, but it never grabbed me.

I loved Watership down, also Plague Dogs.

General Woundwort scares me silly.

Saw the film of The Plague Dogs the other day and I'm sure it ended wrong...

I finished the book a few days ago. Wow. What a wonderful, spectacular piece of work. I love how they used the stories of Elahrairah and how extraordinary events of other rabbits merge with his to create more myths and stories. An excellent illustration of how things like those come to be in our world.

I managed to find the cartoon of Watership Down on youtube, and I was very pleased with it. I was very surprised at how much of the book and actual dialogue they managed to include, considering its length. But the downside was that it all flowed so quickly, it was difficult for the emotion to sink in. But I LOVED the voicing of Kehaar. Perfect!!!

Watership Down is definitely due for a new movie. They could make a spectacular film from it with modern effects as well as practical animals. With how creepy the '78 cartoon could be at times, a movie which could take a bit more time to draw out the suspense could be terrifying.

But it'd have to REALLY push the PG limit or a mild PG-13 to get the effect that the book did.

Read Watership Down some years ago and liked it, but probably not as much as Bronzie. Couldn't finish Plague Dogs. Got a few pages in and got so upset at what they were doing to those poor dogs, I had to put it down. Did read Traveller, about Robert E. Lee's horse and enjoyed that very much.

Watership Down is an old favorite, but I haven't read it in years. Never could get into the other ones, Shardik & Plague Dogs.

Regarding the cartoon/movie. It's one of the few book to movies that actually stays fairly close to the story and doesn't go out into it's own little interpertation.

Regarding a remake, I'd like to see it done with current animation techniques, but I don't think I'd like a live action with real animal version.
