Mine is Brendan, from the CS series, he sounds like a fun guy to be around. Sticking to the ship books, I'll go for Tia. We know her as a softshell and she's such a great personality.

Helva for me, followed by Nancia. I used to like whatisname, Simon? Simeon? - until I actually read The City Who..., and he was such a brat that I really went off him! I also found that book too violent and un-Anne-like. In fact, I think the reason Helva is my favourite is probably that "The Ship Who Sang" is the only Ship book written entirely by Anne.

Tia because she has a lot more adapting to do than the others. And because she looks beyond the box.

Simeon, because he's got attitude (and maybe because he's the only male brain we really spend a lot of time with.) Second is Nancia, because I like that she's not superconfident or falling head over heels in love with her brawn.

Helve most definately and then Tia. I'd like to know what happened to Helva, all the later books have is a mention that everybody is looking for her but I don't recall if there's a reason given.

I love all of them but if I have to pick a current favourite I would pick Simeon. The guy has attitude to burn.

Add my vote for Tia. First of all, there's the fact that we did get to know her outside of her shell, unlike most of the other shellpersons, and believe me, it does make a difference. Then, she was easily one of the most shrewd and intelligent of any characters in ANY AM book...

Brendan is a close second, purely because of his sense of humor.

I can't decide between Simeon, Carialle, and Tia. I like 'em all....

I liked Simeon- in fact I was reading out of order and came upon him in the Ship who Won, which made me put that book down and read the City that Fought. I loved that he 'adopted' Joat and fought so hard for her.

I would have to say Tia followed closely by Simeon.

Tia, Carialle, Simeon.
Nancia was too naive, and Helva is always distant to me.

I think it'd have to be Brendan... He wasn't overdeveloped but he was a friendly chap who fit into his storyline well.

In the main books, I'd be inclined towards sticking with Helva, having read that book most and knowing her better than the others!

Simeon, because he's funny, smart, adapatable, and underneath that slightly chauvanistic exterior a total softy for the kids.
