(shameless plug. I know. I'm sorry :O )
At Nightshade Weyr, our Senior queen has risen to mate! We are calling for serious Bronze riding Role Players to participate!
Now there is a twist to the flight but don't worry we have it worked out & a WeyrLeader will be chosen...that's why we're asking for serious (and friendly) players :)
Our website is http://www.angeltowns.com/members/pkaerynsun1/BareBones/nightintro.html Now I know it looks inactive but we are planning updates (infact, we are no longer in the 6th pass as it says, but in the 12th pass)
For more up-to-date happenings, go to our forum at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nightshade_rp/
Please join us & mail either Sarafina (dracorca@yahoo.com) or Eryn (pkaerynsun1@gmail.com)
We also need many other positions (including high ranks. We have some twisted plots already planned...hehehe!)
So we hope to hear from you soon!! Clear Skies!

Forgot to mention...we're also looking for BoD members. If you're interested in that, email Eryn @ pkaerynsun1@gmail.com (she's more on top of 'da rules for that. hehehe ;) )

alright I'm starting to grow impatient.
I'm curious, what sets a Weyr above others? Our Weyr is just as fine & fun as the others out there! I know, I have been with it for YEARS. through name changes & site movings. Sure our page looks dull at the moment but we're working on revamping it.
I'm sorry for my sudden change but I am SICK and tired of clubs being "ranked" so simply. We have a good & friendly Weyr with great people (AND did I mention a new dragon type?) All we're asking are for a few more players to make it complete. I think many of you out there can agree with me on this. It is simply unfair.
Now I ask again- PLEASE contact us if you wish to be Lord Holder, WeyrLeader, rider of ANY color besides gold (and I also mean our new color) etc.
If you wish to complain at me, go ahead. But I am not flaming. All I'm asking is for a fair chance & a little notice for our Weyr
Thank You
Anareth

Uhhhh...no one was 'ranking' anything around here. If you're not getting any response, maybe people are overbooked on RP (I know I am). Maybe they're not interested in your particular Weyr. Maybe you're not advertising enough--is this the only place you posted an ad? If so, you could try places like http://www.pernalliance.com or Weyrplug (search Yahoogroups). People there are usually actively looking for a Weyr to join, so you might get more traffic.

Actualy I just posted there today lol
I apologize, everyone, for the outburst but I & my 2 friends who have been running this Weyr for years are just stunned at all the Weyrs being overlooked & saddened by all the places that shut down due to lack of interest. It's just sad
I know there's like.....TONS of clubs out there. But it's still sad to see so many being ignored for bigger flashy looking ones -_- Y'know?

(throwing in my $.02... finally.. and thanks again Sarafina  )
Actually, Anareth.. I've advertised on Two Yahoogroups, and a couple of other sites...
We're just... frustrated.. trying to think of things that will get people interested in joining... that's why we came up with Grey dragons... and our "weird" plotline.. :darkside: heh...
But yeah, I know, to get people to join, gotta adverstise... and that's why we're doing it here, too... and when the old KT was up as well...
Thanks for your input, Anareth.... :whee:

In my experience, Weyrplug will always get at least a little reaction.
As for lack of interest, *shrug*, wish I could help but sometimes it's all I can do to motivate my own Weyr! We've just been REALLY lucky by scoring a new player willing to take over the WLM job (thank God.)
A couple comments on your website: that red-on-light-purple text on the rules page is REALLY hard on the eyes, enough to make a casual reader hit the back button fast.
If you've changed to the 13th Pass you might want to change that on the front page, rules, etc. On some places it's still 6th.
Definitely interested in seeing the explaination page for the grays--it would make a good hook that sets your club apart. Right now, the site's a little sparse and the color scheme is a bit off-putting, so there's not a lot to really grab people. Something highlighting the new color, if that's going to be a major plot point, would definitely stand out.

Hmmm... well, I guess you're right about the red on purple.. I was trying to think of a color that would grab a person's attention to certain parts of the Rules... what color would *you* recommend? :)
Already way ahead of you on fixing the pages to reflect the change from the 6th Pass to the 13th Pass.. ;)
However, I don't agree with your assement on the pages being too "sparse" :D... I felt like I had all the info(at the time) for what a potential player needed to know.... adding more pages as time went by...(we're planning not only a page for the new color dragon, but a couple of other things as well)...and as for the color scheme.. well... I happen to like the purple color background and the green font... but as someone pointed out to me last night, perhaps a different color font would be better... Unless by sparse you meant more "Bells and whistles"? I'm not a techie by any means, and php confuses me, LOL.. tho I could try to gussie it up a bit using some more css....
Thanks for your comments.. they do help.. and I hope I didn't offend you in any way.. just defending my "baby" a bit! ;) :bouncy:

With that purple background, I'd go with a blue-based color, something a bit darker rather than screamingly bright--I had to change my own web site once because I had that shade of red on black and my own MOTHER complained about it.
There are things you can do with backgrounds that don't require any real technical skill (I'm tech-hopeless, though fortunately for NRW's website one of our members is a graphics whiz!) It's a pretty simple tag--you just need to have uploaded the jpg to your server. Google for 'free backgrounds' and you'll find thousands that are availble. One thing that's pretty easy to do is a basic frame, too, so people aren't constantly having to hit back to return to the menu. I had a very crude one up until Mir made our site a bit spiffier--it wasn't PRETTY, but it worked. Maybe someone here (or in the Tangled Web forum at PA) can explain the easy coding.
Also, and this is just personal taste, but I'm not the only RPer who'd notice something like this--I'd limit/eliminate using emoticons and 'casual speech' (ya instead of you, etc.) and check some of the grammar, especially on the history page. Also, the history is a touch hard to follow--I'm not saying you should do a timeline-style like we do (that just happens to work for us) but maybe make it a little more detailed, put in some paragraph breaks, and make it a little clearer, since your history is part of your hook.
Just some sales tips--we've been open since 2001 and we've gone through a lot of revamping of the web site to attract members (though we had the opposite problem you seem to be having--we opened during a 'boom' period and then went through a bust, and are only now just settling into what I'd call a steady routine, but we've managed to do it without turning into one those HUGE clubs, or dying out.)

Again, thank you for your comments.. I'll keep them in mind.. :good: and definately change the color of the font on the Rules page.... ;)
Frames are easy for me... might consider doing that.. however not sure about using background art... it's usually really really hard finding a font/font color that won't clash or not show up on a "busy" background(at least for me).. but I'll consider it.. :)

My comp still shows the page as having a grey background with green text.....????? I think we may need a textured or picture background..
**due to so much, her sanity & temper has almost gone wherever Jeffrey Dahmer's mind went**

It's me again
So maybe you're thinking of joining, but don't feel like making a whole new character right now? If you've got a character that you've had for years and years, but don't currently use, bring 'em on over to Nightshade :D We'll welcome them happily.
And, for those who love the spooky--if you've got a character that's died and maybe you really really didn't want them to, bring them also.. let them haunt the Weyr... :ghost2:
Also, the Mating Flight is well underway, so soon we're gonna need some more Candidates.. and there will be a few greys in there.. ;)
That is all. (for now :D )

Okay--first, we now have a new web addy!
http://nightshade-weyr.e2uhosting.com/
I'm going to be working on it for the next few days, so pardon the dust ;)
Next, the Mating Flight is nearing the end, so.. soon we'll be needing those Candidates.. if anyone is interested, join the Yahoo email list(since my mini-persona sheet is down right now) and I'll get you approved as quickly as possible...and then you'll be sent the long version of our persona sheet.. just put down for dragon color your preferences in order of importance--However, if you want a grey dragon, go ahead and put it down, but I have to say that there's only gonna be a few of those... will you be the lucky one? :D
thanks for reading!
