For a while now, I have been considering to start a more extensive RP, or maybe interactive story might be a better word. Anyway, my idea is basically for a set number of people to work together to write a long story.

Here are some guidelines/requirements--

1. Each participant must be prepared to post once, maybe twice a month.

2. Taking turns, the participants must write a chapter of the story from their character's perspective. Each chapter must be 2-3 pages long.

3. All chapters must be beta read before its posted at the forum I hope to create for this purpose. Participants should be prepared to rewrite parts or in full if the beta readers believe it will further the story as a whole.

4. Remember that realism is important.

5. There's 12 spots available. If there's a lot of interest, participants will be picked based on the quality of the character bios they submitt.

6. The story will be set at Earth, starting in 2004. Characters must be human, and magic do not exist as far as they are aware of.

7. To learn more and to sign up, go to the Critter Forum. (http://critters.4.forumer.com/index.php?showtopic=767)

And there will be dragons.

No magic, but there are dragons........

Dragons aren't necessarily magic... They could be bio-engineered.

I think Jack Vance or someone did it - The Day of the Dragon - it was discovered that alligators or crocodiles suffer from some genetic heart-problem, and when it was fixed, they ended up growing into dragons.

This sounds like a mosaic-type novel, which also sounds fun. And if you decide to do away with the realism, you could always do what seems to get done in the "Bill the Galactic Hero" series.

Though Harry Harrison writes most of the "BtGH" books, sometimes he gets another person to co-write. And I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that when they're co-authored, the two authors take turns trying to ... burn...the other one, leaving Bill in predicaments that he can't get out of.

Sounds fun though!

I'd love to try that with one other person. I think 12, while fun, would be hard for me because of the differing styles and I'm so anal about things like that.
