And to let you know when it comes to country music I'm a traditionalist so a few of these are kinda old.

1.
Well now we're all back together
and we're burnin' up the road
and that old sheriff's doggin' us today
He thinks he's really got it cookin'
plans to do a lot of bookin'
only trouble he keeps lookin'
where we've already been!

2.
Workin' on the railroad
Sleepin' on the ground
Eatin' saltine crackers
Ten cents a pound
(I'm looking for one of three artists for this one)Song is "Big Balls in Cowtown" by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Asleep at the Wheel, or George Strait 1/2 credit to Anne (sglandon)

3.
He's got thirteen channels of wrestling comin' in strong from a satellite send
A two hundred function remote control big screen TV with stereo
High-Tech Redneck by george Jones credit to Anne(sglandon)

4.
Wish a buck was still silver.
It was, back when the country was strong.
Back before Elvis; before the Vietnam war came along.
"Are the Good Times Really Over?" by Merle Haggard credit to Anne (sglandon)

5.
The bar-maid is mad 'cause some guy made a pass
The juke box is play-in' there stands the glass
And the cig-a-rette smoke kind-a hangs in the air

I know George Strait recorded it, but I can't think of the title! Aarrghh! Something about Cowtown.....aarrgghh!! I will NOT allow myself to cheat! LOL!

You are right about George Strait, but he's not the artist I'm looking for on this song. I'm looking for the original artist that did it. Which is NOT Asleep at the Wheel.

Ok, it looks like nobody knows these so I'll give you one of them. Let's finish the one Anne started #2. The song is "Big Ball's in Cowtown" and the artist I was looking for is Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. The song was also done later on by both George Strait and Asleep at the Wheel, both separately and as a collaboration together.

Okay, so you went WAY back - LOL! I never would have gone that far, but I should have thought about it - I am ashamed of myself, and my daddy would beat me! If the others are similar, I'll try to think further in the past! :)

Again, I am embarrassed. How could I overlook it?

Let me put it this way #4 and #5 are fron the 50's or 60's, #1 is from the 70's (I think might even be the early 80's), and #3 is from the 80's but the artist goes way, way back.

Wish a buck was still silver.
It was, back when the country was strong.
Back before Elvis; before the Vietnam war came along.

This one has been itching at me - it popped into my head earlier, and again, I can't believe myself. I was raised on Merle. :erm: Just don't tell my dad, okay? :shhh:

Merle Haggard
Are the Good Times Really Over?

I was appaled at myself awhile back. There was something on the radio - I think it must have been "If We Make it Through December" - and my son did NOT know who was singing the song. I feel as though I have neglected my child somehow, that he does not know Merle.

Since nobody seems to want to answer the last two I've answered them. I'm going to do this again, but with more recent country music.
