View Full Version : A serial collector?

JayEgo

There are few series on television that I'll go out of my way to collect but more recently, I suppose, there've been some real gems!

I now have possession of:

Dark Angel - series one and two.
Brittas Empire - Series one to three (need four and five!)
Battlestar Galactica series one on order!
CSI - Series One to three (original only, not Miami or NY!)
Absolutely Fabulous - Series one to four (need five!) plus extras!

amongst a few others...

What series do you collect?

Why not TOS or E?

Because I've never seen either series. They were never screened here.

I doubt it. It's been more than a year since last ANY sort of SciFi show was screened here. The national broadcaster keeps saying nobody watches it...which is a BIG FAT LIE!!

Well I don't collect any because thwy are FAR too expensive for me to purchase, but I'd LIKE to get all of Stargate SG-1, Smallville, Everwood and That 70's Show :D

We have 4 standard channels, three of which are controled by the national broadcaster. They have 9 languages to cover in those three channels...

The other is independant, but is a little cash strapped because it's privately owned.

The rest are via satelite, and you pay an arm and a leg for it...we don't have the SciFi channel here...

But then, I found the second half of CSI Series three half price too :ok:

They are overpriced but it's all about desire, not value for money isn't it...? :erm:

That's what VCR's are for! :good:

But I agree. To get them on video or DVD is WAY too expensive...

I haven't been watching much TV lately, and it's been quite a while since I've even thought of collecting a series. The only one we (my sis and I) have nearly completely is Friends (partly taped, partly bought as VCR's or DVD's), plus we've taped a good bit of X-files. I think we also have a tape filled with Mad About You.

I don't usually bother with comedies...but there is one I would dearly love to have! "As time goes by". It's a British comedy starring Judy Dench. I thought it was hilarious!

Hmmm, yes, like Bronzie, I would like to collect once I can afford!

Star Gate SG1 - unfortunately, having Atlantis on at 10:30pm on Thursday nights means I can't watch it most of the time, and the other part of the time I forget!! so apart from the last half hour of the first 2 hour episode, I've not seen any)
Dark Angel
Lost (when it comes out!)
The Simpsons
That 70s Show

There's prolly more but I can't think of them right now (might amend it when I see what everyone else puts ;) )

Lol, I used to tape the episodes, but then I'd mislabel them, and get frustrated fastforwarding through 6 hours of each tape looking for the episode I wanted, through 6 different tapes! So you can see why I gave that up :p The only series I keep on tape is the new MTV Spider-Man cartoon, and the WB Tarzan, because they only lasted one season and each fit on one tape :good:

And worth every penny

I don't have any series on DVD yet. Some of season 1 MacGyver and the entire Sharpe series, but I won't tell you where I got them from. I'd like to have Babylon 5, Stargate SG-1 (Atlantis hasn't reached us yet) and 'Allo, 'allo.

The only series I've ever started collecting was The X-Files. :ok: They were so expensive though that I had to quit after the first couple of seasons.

It's really not sensible for me to collect tv shows anyway...I never actually watch them. :erm: I'm the same way with movies.

I have

Stargate SG-1 Seasons 1-4 and working on the rest. Of course if they never stop making it I will never catch up. Which would make me very, very happy. :good:

Andromeda Season 1 and considering the rest.

I want

Dark Angel
Star Trek Voyager and DS-9 (My favorites of the Star Trek series)
Battlestar Galactica (TOS)
Isis
Wonder Woman
RoboTech
Voltron (5 Lions)
Voyagers!

A couple of these, if you're under age 25 you'll have to look up on IMDB to learn what they were.

Otherwise, we have about 60 movies on DVD. And another hundred or so that we bought before we had a DVD player. I'm also working on a collection of all of the feature-legnth Disney animated films. I love Disney!

Maybe I should re-state that. :D I watch tv shows and movies, I just won't watch them again on video or DVD. I do have a good memory for trivia though. ;)

So basically, I bought the X-Files on video tape, put them on my shelf and then never watched them. Waste of money.

I was going to do Dark Shadows, I've got two sets, (the first episodes with Barnabas Collins), but there are far too many episodes, considering that half hour gothic soap opera lasted a long time.

On DVD:

I've got the first season sets of:

MacGyver (Second season on order.)
Dead Like Me
Escaflowne

I've got Dallas as a First/Second Season set. Although the first season in this set is really the initial mini-series and the second season in this set is really the first true season.

The wifey wants me to get Farscape. I will eventually.

On VHS Tape that we recorded:

We've got:

Babylon 5, sort of cataloged.
The Star Treks except for TOS and Enterpise, sort of cataloged.

DVD on order; MacGyver (second season set), FireFly (entire series set).

All future orders subject to budget.

Gosh, Sis! Calm yourself. Take a slow deep breath, hold it, let it out slowly.

You're not calm enough, do that breath thing again.

Okay. Now that you're calm.

The copy protection on the DVDs will not allow me to make decent copies of them. However, the wifey has some VHS tapes of Red Dwarf that she purchased some years ago. I believe, essentially seasons one and two, each season consisting of six episodes each. I've discussed this with Tanje and she has consented to give the tapes to you if you want them.

PM me your snail mail addy and I'll send them out as soon as I can.
