Ok, am not sure how to put my question, but how on earth does how wide one's stripe is indicate how high his family is, honourwise etc?? This has never really made sense to me, especially since some of small stripes have ascended to higher honour, haven't they?? Also, there is mention of a stripe getting wider with age? I think!! :D LOL

I think it's almost like a caste system; the higher up you are the broader your stripe is. It's inherited.

Well to me, it kinda smacks of Hrruban racism! If you're born into a family with little to no stripe how the hell do you make a name for yourself? Or are you consigned to do the sewerage plant jobs etc on your world because that is your place??

I don't think it's so much the width of your stripe but the colour of the stripe which is important.

I always associated it with the Indian subcontinent caste system myself.

Would you care to elaborate on that Lessa? I've next to no knowledge about it so have nothing to compare it with! :)

A person is born into a specific caste and stays within that caste for life. Only in rare cases does someone change castes.
I found this hope it helps
