Resuscitating another golden oldie.

I'd go, if I was a postmenopausal woman with no kids and my parents were dead.

Nope. There isn't enough flora nad fauna for my tastes. And I'm not sure I really care for the thought of being THAT tied to a planet.

I'd go in a heartbeat...why???

1. Earth is pretty boring
2. The symbiont doesn't let you get sick...I have so many allergies, I'm always miserable; season don't matter.
3. The longevity and not aging...I've got a lot left to do in my life...who knows if I have enough time?
4. The enhancements...the symbiont almost always enhances a person somehow...I don't have perfect pitch, so I'd get one of the other enhancements...it would be cool to be a sorter I think.

I'd go for the medical benefits, too. I'm so fed up with being constantly sick... I don't care if I was tied there for life.

Hey, I'm already tied to one world...

The older I get it seems I get everything going around at least twice. To not get sick I'd go there. And to get rid of my allergies! Of course I'd have to take a terrier or 2 with me.

I'm like granath...if I was post-menopausal with no romantic ties or close family...yes.
In my present position, no way.

Tough choice...

I'm by no means a perfect pitch kinda guy so I'd have to go in another capacity... But what if the symbiont wasn't playing the game? I could end up being suited to anything, whether or not it suited me?

It's a tough choice really, without factoring in family and love commitments here on earth.

Not sure what I'd do... :erm: <--- Missing 'erm' smilie!

I don't think I would. I don't want to be a singer. Maybe support staff or farming somewhere.

Hmmm... it's an interesting proposition to be sure... and it would be nice to never be sick.

But I do need flora and fauna, like someone said before, around me.

I'd have to think about that, definitely

I would love to go, but one of the medical staff or a sorter, i would hate to loose parts of my memory

yes, in a heartbeat. if i could not be a singer, i would still not have to cook or iron. i like the idea of having machines do most of the work. and i sure i could still read there. ;)

...I don't think so! You'd have to be VERY passionate about the job you end up having to do 'cause you will be doin' 'er for a LONG time...

Absolutely NOT. I'd probably go blind

i would definitely go!!!
1.. as already mentioned, we're already tied to one planet..it'd just be a different one!
2.. i do have perfect pitch, but i doubt i'd make singer!! I'd love to be involved in research though!!!
3.. imagine the credits.. you may not be able to go offworld as support staff..but you could still afford all you would need to live comfortably. And if you do make singer, there's all the travel you could do for work and vacation... :D

i don't have much that would tie me to earth..so..where do i sign up??

If I did my family would go ballistic. And then there is:
I donät have perfect pitch
I'm claustrofobic
And agorafobic (a bit) :banghead: :banghead:
No space travel for me unless they invent really huge spaceships !!!!
Preferably before I go :faint:

Yes, because it's close to where Anne lives :) I've actually already been there! :D

It has a railway station...

Ballybran, IRELAND, I would go visit in a heartbeat!

Yes, I'd go to that planet. Out of sheer curiousity, if nothing else.
I'll never see all of Earth in one lifetime. Who says I can't be just as happy there?

You wouldn't even be able to get me on the spaceship! I'm extremely acrophobic. But, other than being afraid of the trip on the spaceship, I honestly don't know if I would go or not.

Reasons why I wouldn't go:
1. I'm afraid of heights. TERRIBLY afraid of heights. :faint:
2. I'm way too young right now.
3. I actually want to have a romance in life.
4. I want to have children and watch them grow up.
5. I want to have many different jobs and careers, not just be a crystal singer or part of the support staff all my life.
6. I have family down here on Earth, and a best friend that I can't and won't desert.
7. I don't think that I would want to commit myself to one planet, instead I would like to explore as many planets as I can.
8. I don't exactly have perfect pitch, and if I was going to live on Ballybran, I'd want to be a crystal singer.
9. I don't want to loose my memory if I became a crystal singer.
10. I wouldn't want to live that far away from my home planet.
11. I would be afraid that I would never see my family again.

Reasons why I would go:
1. I would really want to be a crystal singer.
2. I could always be a sorter if I really don't have perfect pitch.
3. I could have perfect pitch after all and become a crystal singer. (Everyone keeps telling me that I underestimate myself a lot. Which includes my singing. )
4. With any profession I can have there, I would be living better than I am now because I would be earning more marks there than money here.
5. If I were a crystal singer, I would love the echoe of crystals.
6. I wouldn't have any allergies or ever get sick.
7. I could have romance in my life without worrying about getting pregnant.
8. The food would be delicious!
9. I would just love the enhancements of my senses!
10. I would look young forever!

The downs really do out weigh the ups, but I guess that I would just have to think about it. I mean, I could try to get a job there, and if end up not wanting to do it, I could quit before I take the tests.

I've really been thinking about it, and I think I would go!!

Why? Because, that's why!! LoL

Seriously... it's alluring! It DOES have plant life, bodies of water, etc. They have a HUGE selection of delicacies (sp?), drinks, furnishings... EVERYTHING you could need. I mean, they'd have to do that if you WEREN'T a singer and could never leave Ballybran!

I would NOT want to be a supplier (ew!!), but I wouldn't mind being a sorter... heck, even in catering or research!! But I would REALLY want to be a singer. :D

But yes, I would go.

I'd go. I'd wait till I had some kids first, then go. But I'd go. I don't care if I 'd be a Singer or not. I'd still go. Anything has to be better than Earth at present.

I do NOT want kids and I like solitude (for periods of time) and excitement, os it would be perfect for me, really.

I do want kids (later, since I'm only 19). I would want to have some progeny and then go. It would be great fun. Especially since no one now seems to believe that we are NOT the only one's out there...echo...echo...echo... heehee. I love te idea that if I went, my family would live for at leats one more generation.

Absolutely not :erm: I REALLY hate strong winds, and I'd like if there was more diverse plant and animal life. There's not much to verify whether there is or isn't, but until that's cleared up, the nearly complete lack of mention of any wildlife besides marine, I'll take as a sign. And I do NOT like the idea of being rendered infertile. Even if I never end up having kids, I definitely want to have the option open. Plus I'm not altogether fond of Singers' attitudes... the increased health and healing is the only aspect that I like. The vastly increased lifespan doesn't appeal to me though, especially since I wouldn't be comfortable on the planet unless I stayed indoors all the time

One thing I've wondered... how come people only come to Ballybran "bare" as it were? Why haven't some people haven't come down temporarily in protective suits as a barrier to the spore? Unless that HAS happened and I just haven't read far enough yet :O

It does happen. Near the end of Crystal Line, some clients come buying crystal and visit the planet. I don't understand why that couldn't've been taken care of on Shankill, as it was in Crystal Singer.
