Misty's third installment in her new dragon world is due out this week, "Sanctuary". Book 1 was "Joust", book 2 was "Alta."

For those not familiar with this series, these dragons' behavoir/type is based on birds of prey (ML is a bird of prey rehabilitator), they are wild animals, only somewhat tamed. The storyline is about a young boy who becomes a dragon trainer of a sort. Dragons are used like horses in war-jousting between dragon riders (knights, sorta) from two warring nations. The cultural model is Ancient Egypt.

Warning to Bush shporters, this series (especially Alta) contains some rather blaring anti-Bush, anti-Iraq-invasion material, thinly disgusied as part of the storyline.

It's a very cool series, very different from any other dragon story I've ever seen.

The third book is coming out already. :eek: The second one hasn't been out all that long has it? Something else I have to on my library order list. :D

My copy arrived yesterday, I just finished reading it, which is why I have been absent for a couple of days, LOL.

Pretty good. IMHO not *quite* as good as the first two, but still definately Lackey quality. I think she tried to put too much into one book, I think she should have fleshed it out, she could have wrapped the current storyline up and made the rest into another trilogy, easily.

The ending really is ambiguous. This could be the end of Misty's foray into this universe, but she also sets it up so that so many more adventures are possible. I hope to see more of this dragon-Egypt universe.
