Personally, I am having a blast with this. You have to really THINK when you want to say something in a rhyme.

Eh, it wasn't too fun for me. Too much rhyming. Personally, I don't enjoy rhyming poetry much at all. I enjoy free form.

The thing most peole forget is while free verse doesn't have to rhyme (and rarely does), there are still rules to it. And no, I don't remember most of the rules, which is why I so rarely use it myself. (It's been 26 years since I studied it at all)

There are no rules to free verse, or so I was always taught. That's the benefits of free verse. It's still poetic, but no silly rules. And it doesn't ryhme. *cringe*

I don't know who didn't teach you free verse. There are "rules" to ALL forms of writing. But, given how you feel about it, then I'd say poetry probably isn't your area.

Actually, poetry and writing IS my area. Extremely so.
