Wondrous Beginnings

I came across a book by the name Wondrous Beginnings and I just had to get it. :D Wondrous Beginnings is a book of short stories that launched the careers of science fiction masters as Anne McCaffrey and several others. :bouncy:

I eagerly pick up the book and go to looking to find the name of Anne McCaffreys story. The name of this story is Freedom of the Race copyright 1953.

I personally have never heard of this story but then it is written before I was born. :) So I have now added this new story into my collection of Anne McCaffrey books. :ok:

Basically Martians had invaded Earth and were using women as breeders. This story tells it from one girls point of view. :eek: Jean is pregant and in labor with a Martian baby. :shhh: What the Martians don't know is she had a case of German Measles during the pregancy and it is fatal for Martian babies. :evil:

The story is like 2 1/2 pages long but I found it quite good. :applause:

Yes, it's very early Anne and it's *cough* interesting as such ;)

But I don't think it would tempt me to buy more if I hadn't already read her later work :D :fiend: :shhh:

Just as Wondrous Beginnings is for short stories that launched the careers of science fiction masters, Magical Beginnings is for fantasy & Horrible Beginnings is horror.

I've read it too. Thought it was ok, if not all that memorable. Hadn't even thought of it til seeing this thread.
