Does anyone know of anything Dragonriders of Pern related in Texas? I'd really like to go to Draon Con or something but don't have any way (that'd I'd take anyhow :mad2: ) to get there. I can't get out of state! It's a nightmare! I don't have anyone to talk to about DoP outside of the internet; I don't even know anyone else who reads anything by Anne McCaffrey. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could give me any information. :)

Whereabouts in Texas are you? I'm from the Houston area.
Heh, oh, and don't let the low post count scare you. ;) I'm well known around here. Tending toward infamous.

I'm from just south of San Antonio and have been waiting fro the excuse to take a road trip. Anywhere. It's got to be better than here. I live in a town of about 300 people (Nordheim, I believe I've named a small planet after it) and me and my dad seem to be the only readers of AMC here. And the only reason he reads it is because he doesn't have anything else to read.
I would be much grateful and helpful if someone in this rather large state would organize a gather, somewhere. Anywhere but here. We can't handle that many people. And we're hard to find. You have to be lost or reeeaaallllly want to come here to find us.

Ho! Fellow Texans!
(I've had coffee   :faint: )
I'd love to do a Texas Gather. Unfortunately, my summer is so hectic with work, I don't dare contemplate something like that. What about the Texas Renfest at the end of the year? I went last year and wasn't real impressed with it, but if there were things to do and people to meet... Maybe we could get some out of staters to come too.

Ren Fest! I LOVE THE REN FEST! Aranel, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy. My hubby, brother and I are planning on going sometime this year, we just don't know which weekend as of yet.
(Brother is an Anne fan, and I"m working on the hubby)

I am really hoping y'all mean the Renaissance Festival because otherwise I'm lost. I haven't been to one but heard from friends that it was fun. I don't mind traveling to get to where I want to go (obviously [ I had sugar :faint: ]) and wouldn't mind it if I could meet some fellow Anne fans. I tend to be running short at the moment and need to go out and get more...

yeah, Ren Fest is gen'rally short for Renaissance Festival! The one in Plantersville, I think the biggest one in the state of Texas!!!

And you all pride your selves on being bigger. j/k
Though I can't talk, we've Dragon Con, the McCaffrey stuff is with all 900,000,000,000 fantasy titles.

Ooh, I've been BEGGING my mom to take me to the next ren fest! :D It would be so cool if we could all be there!
I live closer to Waco, in a small town. I'm sure that no one here has EVER heard of it, it's barely even on the maps.

I have family that lives in the Dallas, TX area that I visit a lot. I can't get anywhere but there most of the time, but my sister-in-law goes to school in Waco. She's going to be a senior this comming up semester (and she will graduate next summer, making just 4 years in collage [ We're not worthy!]).
