Most of this story was originally posted on in the Fan Fiction Forum on the original Kitchen Table back in September. Things got crazy for a while, but I finally finished it. The story is posted in full, with some improvements made to the first 3/4 of the story, mostly suggested by our own ChrisG. I can't thank him enough for his honest feedback. It has helped my writing improve drastically in the past year or two.
Please, don't let him be the only one. Let me know what you really think about "From the Ashes" and anything else I post in the Fiction Forum. I don't offend too easily.
Thank you all for being willing to read my work, and helping me to make it the best it can.

Okay, I know the story is a little lengthy, but I also know people have at least looked at it. Come on, give me your :2cent: s. I don't post for my health, or as an ego trip. I post because I want to improve my writing skills. Whether you think it's good, bad, or somewhere in between, let me know.
I know I haven't commented on many stories of late, but I also haven't had time to read many during this insane year. In fact, this is my first chance to write something other than advertising copy since September, so I know my skills are a little rusty. I may not always be the most helpful of beta readers, but I try to comment on each story I read. I mean, what else is a writer's group or forum for if not to help one another progress, and how can we hope to achieve our goals without giving and receiving feedback? :redfruit: :banghead:

I wish you the same luck I had with it. I've tried begging, now I'm thinking threats next. People: you don't think we can see there've been hits?
Well, I think the writing is pretty decent. It's a bit on the talky side--a lot of characters discussing things. I have to admit it doesn't grab me, but don't take that personally--I'm not into the whole Celtic/pseudo-Celtic thing.

I do tend to get a bit carried away. I've noticed it in other stories, but not as much in this one. Thanks for the imput.
I'll be sure to comment about your story if I get the chance to read it in the next couple of days. (Which, shouldn't be too bad if they don't give me any more work to do than they did yesterday. They move the office closer to the clients, and now I'm not needed nearly as much. So, basically, I'm getting paid my regular wage to sit and edit or write half the day and do their work during the first half of the morning and the last half of the afternoon. I just hope the bosses don't catch on and make me part-time.)
