I'm sorry Sharon, but it will be another year I won't be able to make it :(

Have fun all of you - I'll be thinking of you (put it on the calendar!)

Sharon

Well Hans, there will be another one in October, no date set on that one yet. Maybe you can make that one! Heck, you could be Guest of Honor! :D

Where are you Neou?

NeouofPern
11th January 2005, 09:06 PM
Los Angeles area. Not saying anymore than that. Sorry. :(

Earthmother
12th January 2005, 04:48 AM
I am in the LA area too.... Look forward to seeing you at the gather.

Sharon
12th January 2005, 04:59 PM
Neouofpern, you too bad you missed our last gather which was in October. I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming one.

If transportation might be a problem, you might be able to get a ride with someone.

I sure hope you like barbecue...The Forest Shelter at the Park has two double barbecue grills, and I always grill up a lot more meats than has ever been eaten at a gather. ;)

NeouofPern
12th January 2005, 07:05 PM
Heh, I don't eat a lot of meat, but I eat hamburgers and such. ^^ And depends if my parents will take me as well... Blech. They're my ride.

Purpura

Hey Neou Events that happened at the October Gather, just in case you show this thread to your parents to tell them about the June Gather.

We had tree climbing, Pictures being taken, a couple pumpkins that got painted, a dunking for apples, a coloring table with 5 different pictures and markers and crayons to color with, a Trivia questionnaire with questions about the past Gathers with clues to the answers in pictures put up on posts around the shelter, and some Pern Trivia and lots and lots of talking about stuff and eating... lots of that too

Sharon
13th January 2005, 08:28 PM
Hmmmm....I've never done burgers for the gathers.

I've done chicken various ways, pork spare ribs, hot Italian sausage, and bratwurst,

Maybe we'll have burgers. :D

By all means, talk the parents into coming. It's a lovely park, and we have a lot of fun. They don't have to be McCaffrey Fans, we've had other friends and family join us as well.

NeouofPern
13th January 2005, 11:24 PM
I told my mom in the car while coming home from school. I eat chicken. Heh. And the mother loves all that sausage stuff. Erm... do people dress up? If so, I'll probably bring my two best friends... We're the three merry wenches. :bouncy:

Sharon
14th January 2005, 12:10 PM
We don't always dress up for the June Gathers, we usually dress up for the October one.

Bring the parents, bring the friends, the more the merrier. :D

Finally got the momey together to reserve the site! :ok: So I'll get that done this afternoon , hopefully before 4:00pm! :good:

Had an idea for the invitations, but wasn't sure what you would think. Sending samples to you shortly. :erm:  :banghead:
(Big Hint: Frames from " A Gift of Dragons" with antiqued pics inside)

Has there been a time set for this Waffle and Wine Tasting Trip? Dragonlady asked when Crystal and I could go and I said any time in March. (At the time I had other things too much on my mind, so I didn't really pay a whole lot of attention, I'm afraid. :( )

I was just currious if anyone of you would be going to the Renaissance Pleasure Faire. They are runnig it Saturdays and Sundays April 16th thrue May 22nd, 10am to 6pm. And the new site is now the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area (Roughly that's South where the 605 and 210 cross, and traffic control has established that everyone must enter the Faire from the 210 Freeway Irwindale exit.)

I have no idea why I thought Fountain Valley was up by Lancaster--

This isn't a bad drive from Phoenix, the location is fairly close to where they hold SCARS meets [that's the Southern California Antique Radio Society to you folks!]

I'm working on working this into my summer schedule even as we speak! It'l be nice to get away from the legislature and get back into fandom, at least for a weekend.

Delighted may be too sedate an adjective to describe those boys. The phrase "besides themselves" comes to mind.

I think I've got a photo of you, DP & The Boy. I can print one up and that way all three of you can be there. ;)

Good. Then all I have to do is mail you the single symbolic bubblie pie. I think we all know why I can't mail anything edible to the DragonLady household.

What makes you think I won't eat it?

Two reasons.

!. You have a powerful sense of personal honor.

2. You know me well enough not to trust me completely. There are too many "interesting" things I could bake into a bubblie pie.

There be only thrity, yes you count 'em, 3 0 days left till the Gather!

Sharon, our Mastergriller, of course first and foremost

As for our little group of gather goers, there will be the usual 4!
Mark, Michele, Crystal, and me. (There are three more possibles but we wont count them right now as it's still very ify)

Dena, Rod, their two boys, and Mellissa makes the usual 5! and Dena mentioned some friends might make it, but she'll have to let us know the final number.

Pam, and our suprise guest and his daughter if they make it adds 3 more!

Pupura and Chris makes another 2!

Murphy, Andy, Wanda, and Christopher makes another 4

NeoofPern's if they make it will be another 4

Cindy, Paul, and Glidith are still maybes but lets count them as 3

This is starting to add up nicely! Any else want to be added to our little invite list?

The other half of the set up crew has been taking her time this morning since she usually arrives before the MHB crew does. I should be leaving here very shortly. Just checking in before I leave.

NeouofPern, I'm sorry to hear that you probably won't make it.

Home from the gather. Met some very interesting and friendly people. Sharon cooked up a storm and there was more than enough food for everyone and then some. We could have used some more people. Even my son and daughter-in-law enjoyed themselves and they don't read fantasy/science fiction at all. My grandson Christopher had a good time playing with Micah and Boaz.

Looking forward to the October gather.:2cent:

Hey Murphy you left a spoon at the Gather, Masterharper Bridget will mail it to you. Pern was devoured after The Todd and the Ceara got to see it. Pictures were taken by a buncha people :) We had a good time. I got to bring home the remains of the chocolate chip cookie :)

Giant Jenga Game, was something of a smashing success. The coloring books were definately a good idea, not only did it give the set up crews a way of killing time waiting on the rest to show up, but we used the back of the pages for our text twist game.

And of course spt's were once again evident, though this time it was the ladies of the gather who weelded them! More specifically our Master Grillchef Sharon and the youngest of our suprise guests.

The brisket was great, Murphy. Hope that you will be able to come to the next one in October too! It was so good to get to meet you face to face.

Seems a good time was had by one and all! What will we do the next time I wonder?

Bridget! I'd say the wind made the giant "Extreme Jenga" set a smashing success with the towers at 6 feet tall :D

Picures please.

So Pern was recognized despite my non-existant artistic skills.

I hope there is at least one picture of "thread" decending on Pern.

Purpura

Pern was torn apart by hand, no pictures of the hands ravaging the delicious map, and there was some translucent tinsel stuff used in the white elephant gift packaging that could have been Thread.

first of 92 pic are up for those who want to take a gander at the goings on.

For those of you who questioned that T-E-D was a name and therefore not allowed as a text twist answer, I was wrong about it having to do with climbing!

It does however, have a meaning beyond being a shortend version of Theadore.

And I quote from a dictionary here :2cent: :

ted, tedded, tedding. -v.t.- To turn over and scatter after mowing, as hay, in order to dry by exposure to the air.

I got home just after 9pm last evening. I've slept over 12 hours since then (last night, then again this afternoon/evening) Suffice it to say I was tired.

I tried to post the photos on the ClanFiend site, but it's been acting up the last few days and I haven't been able to post there. So an alternate was found.

They aren't all up yet since they were taking ages to load. There is a picture of the Pern Map Cookie prior to it's been broken up and devoured.

I'm suggesting October 30th for the Halloween and Harvest Gather. :D
