She writes the Tortall Alanna/Protecter of THe Small/Circle of Magic/THe Circle Opens Quartets. I'm about to start the Alanna Tortall quartet, as II've already read Circle of MAgic and the Circle Opens.

I tried the first book in the Protector of the Small series, because I wanted to see what some of our younger members were reading and enjoying!! Well, that hooked me...and I've read all her books. Even re-read a few!!! :)
Enjoy!!! :)

Yay! Someone else reads her series. And I think I will enjoy them, let me see.

I've read all of the Alanna books, all of the Daine books, all of the Keladry books, and then I got fairly bored. Of all of them, I thought the Keladry books were the best.

Dang it, am I going to be the last one to read the Alanna books here?

Unfortunately, my local library only seems to have two of her books :(
However, I've "skim-read" a couple of others at Waterstones while waiting to meet friends - wicked, I know, but hey I'm only human and it sure beats standing on a streetcorner in the cold ;)
I like them. I wish my library stocked more, since I've decided to stop buying books other than AMC for a while as not only have I run out of bookshelves, I've finally run out of places to put new bookshelves :banghead:

Okay so it's really called The Immortals but I tend to think of it as the Wild Magic Quartet :)

I've read the Alanna quartet, the Protector of the Small quartet, the Immortals quartet, and both Trickster books. I read the first Circle book, and found it too.... boring.

I've read all of her books! My current favorites are Shatterglass and Trickster's Queen. I cannot waited for the next circle book that apparently is no longer called The Circle Reforged, Scholastic wants it to be The Will of the Empress: The Circle Reforged.

I just finished re-reading Alanna's stories and am now in the second Daine book. I LOVE stories with unconventional females as heroes. All of her characters are, to me, so much like real people. I suggest them to all of my teenage female friends - they are inspiring. WE don't have to imagine being the rescued female (unless we want to be, and sometimes, we do!) WE can fight the battles, right the wrongs, and raise the babies, too! Doesn't ths sound like the old commercial for some kind of perfume? "I can bring home the bacon, etc."? ;)

I really enjoyed all of Tamora Pierce's books from Alanana, the Immortals, and the Magic Circle and any others can get my hands on. I need Trickester's Queen! If you like Tamora Pierce try Meredith Ann Pierce.

Recently started re-reading the Immortals quartet - but the third one's out fo the library! Curse it!
How did y'all start reading them? I found them by reading loads of the Point Fantasy sets, and then veered off onto a Tamora Pierce spree. :D
And, incidentally, I've been *discussing* this with a friend - arguing! - how do you pronounce Tamora? Tam-o-ra? Or Tam-or-a?

I started reading Tamora Pierce through a kiwi member of the old KT, who hasn't seemed to make it over here, she lived near me and I went to visit her and she lent me the Lioness series - she gushed and gushed about her

. . . in a new world. There are 8 right now. Then, if you want you can go back to Tortall and read Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen.
I've read all except the Trickster's books, at least, three times! I re-read Wild Magic last week but found a Mercedes Lackey and didn't jump into the rest of the Diane books.

I bought Protector of the Small because it looked interesting, but I never got around to reading it, until, for some reason, I bought The Circle of Magic series (maybe in a book order or something). Then, after I read that, I realized that I had another book by her. I've been hooked ever since. I go back and forth on which ones are my favorites. Right now I am leaning toward The Immortals Quartet.

Ack! How frustrating! On her website, and it's the only author website I've seen where she's predicting what books will be out 5 years into the future! But I think I've read all of her books so far... I think, am currently reading Trickster's Choice, and I think that Trickster's Queen is out now, but I can't see any more of that series set up for in the years to come  it's not fair! She needs to finish the story! I loved all the other ones, and I'm loving this one, I hate having to wait to hear the rest of stories (from any writers!)

Ok funny story! I was looking for a granny smilie in google, and I found a message board with the words 'granny smilie' so I went there to find it, and in the same thread, I see the words F'NOR! F'NOR! so I stop to have a looksee - natch ;)
Aaaaanyways, I ended up joining because yes, this person was talking about Anne's F'nor LOL apparently these people are obsessed with F'nor cake!
Aaaaaaaanyways ;) I find out that this message board is actually a Tamora Pierce message board, and that she posts there reasonably regularly - what are the odds that a granny smilie would lead me to something like that? LOL
This is the link if anyone's interested in checking the place out :D

I only ever got into the Tortall books. I loved the recent 2-shot of Alianne and cannot wait for the next series. That one takes 200 years BEFORE current Tortall. A whole new cast of characters for us :)

Its funny, the Immortals quartet is the series I liked the least of the Tortall ones, and the Protector of the Small ones I liked best. Perhaps it was the lack of magic and influence by the gods that appealed to me. Plus, Kel reminds me of myself :)

I love Tamora Pierce. :) She is one of very few authors that I will buy without even reading the summaries (of course, it helps that I've usually read all about the books on her website).
A friend got me hooked on her years ago - she kept telling me about these wonderful books that she was reading, but she couldn't wait until the fourth book came out because she didn't know who Alanna was going to marry: cue me rolling my eyes and then borrowing the books when I'd run out of other stuff to read and falling in love with them. Of course, now I'm the one with the new books when they come out and she borrows them when she can.
I'd have to say that my favorites are her Trickster's books, followed by the Protector of the Small and then the Circle Opens. I liked the Circle of Magic, but it was aimed at a slightly younger audience than I normally read for (although, I admit I do upon occasion re-read the Boxcar Children, so I really can't say much).

Interesting. I'll have to train myself to say her name like my friend Tamara's then. Darn. I hate it when I realize I've been pronouncing a name incorrectly because then it makes me pause whenever I read it to check myself, even when I'm doing it right.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago my dad had to be at my house to accept a furniture delivery, so he was looking through my library while they were setting things up and borrowed Sandry's Book in the Circle of Magic series. A few days later, he told me that it was good, it just ended too early. So I then took him the other three in the set. I guess I know where I got that trait from. That's why I don't generally like short stories. They end too early.

I think I've read all of her stuff. Comes of being trapped in the children's section of the library with my daughter. They don't allow children under the age of 10 to be left in the children's section without an adult and she wasn't patient enough for me to pick out other reading first.
I also discovered the AniMorphs, The Princess Diaries and the 1-800-MISSING series this way.

My mom just ordered a lot of these books for our school library. She just processed them and I got The Will of the Empress. (First person to check it out. :D It's good to have connections.) Now I just have to find time to read it.
