View Full Version : Does anyone else have this problem?

When I first got my laptop, the very first thing I installed when I got home was Dragonriders of Pern. My old PC, though a nuisance, played it just fine (until the CD drive corrupted, but that's not the point. >> ). For the first month or so, I guess, the game played fine on the laptop. I recently reinstalled it after cleaning the computer. Now, the laptop will attempt to load the game, but gets stuck right at the UbiSoft Installer screen. Blargh! Anyone have an idea on what I should do? :banghead:

uninstall all componets of the game then reinstall. I would suggest disbaling the fire wall and pop up blockers while installing.

Hmmm... my first thought was "a DirectX problem". Did you downgrade something or upgrade something (from the windows sites) after cleaning the computer?

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, still no luck. -smacks forehead- It didn't even register that it could be a firewall or blocker problem! As for DirectX, I believe the computer has DirectX 8 or something like that. Thanks for the ideas--I'll try them out.

It could be a Direct X problem sence it is such an old program. All else fails get a hold of the Microsoft people or a computer programmer in the local area. Could be a bug someplace

I pretty much had the same problem but not on a laptop. When I loaded the game I tried dblclicking on the desktp icon, no luck. hit start menu, went to Dragonriders, clicked the icon--desktop went black for a second and I thought I had it then zap--back to desktop. I knew Directx was ok. When I put in the disk the UBISoft installer came up, then froze.

After many LOOONG hours of attempts, I found that if I went to program files, brought up the UBI folder, right clicked on the Dragonriders icon then clicked open , then loaded the disk when prompted, it plays just fine.

What I want to know is, did you get as far as the prison??

How did you toggle between the stealth mode and the action mode?

Haven't yet but from everything I've looked at it's that big key on the bottom left of your numeric pad marked O (and underneath, Ins) aka the insert key.

I am asking about how to play thru on a laptop. I do not have those keys on this laptop.

You're not the only one, JJ. How in the world do we play this all the way through without the number pad? @_@

I found it! What you need to do is this: Walk up to the button so you're right on top of it, press the numlk (Numb lock) key, and then press "M", or whichever letter has the letter "0" on the side of it. :bouncy:
