Quickie on the guidelines

Hey all,

Haven't been here in a long time, but I dropped by anne's official site and had another read at the guidelines. I remember the old guidelines said something like you couldn't use her characters, but I didn't see that on the guidelines currently on her site. Is that rule still in effect?


Edit: Okay so I finally found the sticky in the forum. :) I do recall there being some nuance of being able to mention characters in some way or other though... and I was wondering how strict the policy is being enforced. I mean can you get away with little things here and there... or is legal team refreshing their web browsers every second just waiting for you to mention someone?

Brenda wrote entire stories using nothing but Anne's characters, including rewriting Ruth/Ruath's Impression with a very different rider. Ryuu's using canon characters all over the place in Tunnel-Snake and Fire-Lizard. If you wanted to write a story in which Lessa turns down F'lar's offer of Search to take Hold at Ruatha, you could. (Hey, that's actually a good idea...) There are basically no holds barred except no pornography of any stripe.

Wouldn't a series of stories of different versions, or follow-ups, of Anne's stories be good. I've enjoyed the few I've seen

Well, no, but as long as you didn't include Xena characters it wouldn't strictly speaking be against the rules. IIRC the only thing the new rules flat-out ban is porn, understandably.
