Good! :D

As the winner of the Purple Monkey Dishwasher contest I have the annoying little thing sitting on top of my computer desk's hutch. Occasionally someone will pick it up and it'll make this horrible laughing sound! I cannot imagine a life-sized version!

Here's a suggestion H Borrow or get a cape at some point -doesn't have to be too expensive, and then tape a sign to it- "Purple Monkey Dishwasher in disguise."

All I can say H, is that a Purple Monkey Dishwasher that was your size would be absolutely terrifying. . . and I'm so sorry you can't do it! Just think of it this way, at least you won't have a bulky costume to drag from one airport to the next! :erm:

Or, jump in a vat of purple dye and go nakkie?! (Well, maybe a purple loin cloth, hey, no one would probably even notice around there! )

I hate to see someone come all the way to D*C and not have a costume, since being in costume is half the fun. As the monkey is out of the bag....how were you going to construct this costume that is too expensive? faux purple fur? if that was your route, remember it is still hot as blazes (90-100°F/32-38°C) here in Atlanta in early September - keep it light

Dying a t-shirt and shorts/jeans purple sounds like the way to go - take some old ones and bleach 'em then get some RIT(fabric dye) and purplize 'em, maybe add a purple wig and sneakers (maybe dye sneakers too?)? As for your 'tools of the trade' there are dollar stores here - they have lots of cheap kitchen tools in all sorts of obnoxious colors, so for under 40$US you can put together something that'll be an eye-catcher but won't break your budget.

A cape can be made from a bedsheet if you are handy with a sewing machine, also wrap pants can be made from the same, and they can be dyed to match.

PM me if you want me to pick up some of the accessories (and tell me what you'd need) and bring them to you at the hotel, so you won't have to explain to Airport Security "Honestly Sir, it is only a part of my costume for D*C"

Since the PMD is the "other" option, just duct tape a cardboard sign to yourself that says P.M.D.

As I was waiting to pick up Damoodymom, Calla, and SylverSmoke at the airport two years ago, I began to people watch(always a fun activity, especially when D*C is in the picture). I saw several people WEARING their D*C costumes coming off the planes because they were too bulky or whatever to check or send them ahead of time. Could you imagine sitting next to someone on the plane who was dressed as a Storm Trooper or an Anime character? You have to wonder what the poor mundanes on the plane thought! lol Worse can you imagine sitting in an uncomfortable costume like that on a long airplane ride?

Anyways, H, I can't promise you a PMD costume, but I'm sure I can get some SCA garb for you to borrow. Email (Attilia.Auborne@gmail.com) or PM me your measurements(height/weight/etc) and I'll take care of it for you. At least you would be able to have a costume to wear.

Oh H. Just dye some long underwear purple. I am sure that a monkey head thing could be found and dyed purple too. It would not cost that much. Not reallly.
