work is boring,
work is dull,
night shifts have a real big lull.
awake all night to care for others
even when they arent your brothers
gotta go some work to do

Awakening.
A single globe of nut warm brown,
Sleeps in a blanket of night dark grains.
The dawning of spring brings warmth to the blanket
And awakens the globe from it’s winter slumber.
‘Til now it has slept in it’s blanket,
Kept safe from the winter cold nights.
Now it’s awake and it stretches and grows,
Slivers of white in the dark.
A sliver digs down into the blanket,
Searching for water and food all the way.
It divides as it digs ever downwards,
Into tendrils and gossamer threads.
A Sliver grows up to the warmth and the light,
To worship the sun high above.
The sliver grows many hands to do this,
Green like the colour of life.

The gloden bright globe rides high
in the burnished golden green sky
waves of heat and light and flame
beat down on the coastline below
the heat, the warmth, it nurtures some
and makes clear waters go green
for the globe is life to life below
even to life yet unseen.
The waters on the rocky shore
are clean and fresh and clear
the waves foam white and show in the light
a hundred silver blades and more
the blades they move hither and thither
movng with current and wave and breeze
they flash and they flit throught the water
where nothing lies still in the breeze
on the water a boat bobs so slightly
with the ebb and the swell of the tides
it pulls up its sail and so gently
pulls away through the gold it glides.

I have had this one in my head for a while....ever since I chose the module with a field trip that will be visiting this volcano, not a bad poem if I do say so myself.
Stromboli, by me.
On a dark sea of velvet
A beacon shines bright
lit with earthly fires
in the deep of night
The mountain looms large
on the island in the bay
asleep but for the beacon
for ships, lighting the way
by day the beacon dulls
to a tower of grey smoke
to guide the weary traveller
on his journey home.

A new willet poem..
Pompeii (by me)
Silence walks the streets tonight
in a deserted city near Rome
the apocalypse came in the summer
as the mounain burst forth with a groan
Pompeii and Herculaneum
felt in full the god's great wrath
as Vesuvius blew her top that day
and caused devastation in the aftermath
The cities were buried in ash and mud
trapping people forever in time
until builders came to dig it up
an immortalise the city in story song and ryhme

The people of Pompeii. By me.
People sleep upon the ground
in a light rain of rock they are shrouded
the mountain in the distance
groans and gumbles and the sky is clouded
the day should be sunny
the dawn should be bright
no light reaches the city
and in darkness the rocks keep falling
the city is shrouded
the people entombed
their shells will be found
to tell their story.

Some days the tears flow freely
some day's they're trapped inside
The pressure I'm put under
is difficult to abide
music is my solace
a balm that calmes and soothes
the mind is cleared
and I can smile again
When life is stress on top of stress
I run to worlds of peace and serenity
in lands afar where plots unfold
books are my soul's escape
I go on walks late at night
when books have no effect
I talk out my stress as I walk
pounding the pavements till I'm wrecked.
When that doesn't work
I then come here
where were is always a place to talk
and friends to listen.

A new one....pretty much a suck up to my step mum for forgetting her birthday...she was a bit upset so I wrote this and stuck it in her (late) birthday card.
This pretty card arrives today,
from places far abroad.
To celebrate the birthday,
of a friend of good accord.
The only thing, the big catch is,
that day has passed us by,
and with my mind just like a sieve
I really could just die!
So all there nw remains to say,
my brain swims with the fishes
and this card is here to give to you

Stories I wrote in 1994
The mysterious island.
(imagine you and a friend landed on this island, how did you get there? Perhapse you were wrecked and need recuing? Or did yu go there to explore. What happened.
It is the 9 /5 /94. Amanda and myself are setting off on a trip to an island. Unknown to us this trip would be the most mysterious trip of our lives. We had been sailing on the sea princess for about a week when we saw an island. We landed and went for look. We had a look on the map, and it was not on it. There was no one on the island only animas. These animals were deer, monkeys and parrots. A parrot came and sat on my shoulder and another on Amanda’s. We got our tools and built a little shack it took two days but it was worth it! We called the island the island of Nabumbu. We got radio and told them where we were. They sent out a ship but it never go there, this was odd. We sent for a few more but they never came. This was very strange. We stayed for a year. When we went home our families had moved out so we bought a house and lived there for the rest of our lives.

The space time continuum.
We began to descend onto a strange planet, which looked like planet earth. We landed in a clearing a mile from anywhere so we set off exploring. Ten minutes after Amanda and I met a dwarf who was no ore than a meter tall. He had ginger hair, blue eyes and was riding a strange animal called a borvolocka. He stopped and said hello, how are you, you great honourable sars? We said we are fine, how are you? Perfect said the dwarf. What is your name we said Valiant said the dwarf. How far is it to the nearest town we asked. Three days walk said valiant. It s called the town of space shuttles are you gong there? No said valiant. I am going to the city of skulls and then he rode off. We encountered many animals that day like a ten-eyed eagle and the twelve-toothed mantis. A phoenix with fire all over and a three -tailed scorpion. We caged two of each, including a borvolocka. We climbed into the ship with the cages and then diod the count down, 10..9…8…7…6…5…4…3…2…1…BLAST OFF! The engines scorched everything for a half mile around. We were of back to Lab HQ. It was a brilliant sight. The planet was really pretty but suddenly our engines failed and we had to land on he moon. When we landed it looked so funny we broke out in hyserics. There were teddy bears and porceline dolls with horses so we captured four of each. When Amanda and I got back to the ship we put the bears and dolls in cage and went home.
not remotely related to spact-time continuum...but at the time anything like that related to those words seemed like space travel to me....i think....

Stories I wrote in 1995
The ghost of Captain Morgan
I was digging the floor of the den when I found a bottle. The label on the bottle had disappeared (probably rotted away) but I could see a misty liquid in it. I popped the cork to pour away the liquid and throw away the bottle but the mist that came pouring out of the bottle and blinded me. When the mist cleared I found myself in the presence of Sir Henry Mogan’s Ghost. We had recently leaned about him in school. My jaw dropped. It snapped shut when he spoke to me. Hello my dear, what year be this?. We got chatting and sir henry told me of his life, how he had been born as a Welshman in Llanrhymni in 1635, how he had become a pirate after being kidnapped by some ‘roughy toughies’. He told me what he liked and disliked and of his fleet of ships. He told me of Jamaica and the way he escaped the Magdalena and about his addiction to rum…You don’t happen to know where you can get a bottle do you? Sorry. I replied. He then told me of his raid on Panama and how Charles II had knighted him and made him governor of Jamaica. He told me never to drink rum and how he died of rotted kidneys in 1688. like a genie, only better, he granted me three wishes when he had told me his tale. These were to write stories like his when I wanted to, to own my own horse and to own a dress of his time. As the bell of the church down the road tolled 4 o’clock, my wishes were granted. Sir Henry told me swiftly of his pieces of eight treasure and told me to keep the rum bottle. He said that if ever I were in need I would find a golden dubloom from his hidden treasure chest. He disappeared then like mist in the morning sun. When I returned home I found the beautiful dresses of his time in my wardrobe…and my parents bought me the horse I wanted. A dapple-grey with gleaming leather tack. The final wish I found was writing and at school I found that I could write a story about pirates in fifteen minutes flat!

The Secret Garden.
I was walking my dog as usual. I used to go in a thin and scrawny field at the end of my garden but today I went further. I went through a gap in the hedge into a large field hilly field and followed the thin windy track to the hedge at it’s bottom. When I got through the thick prickly hedge I found myself in a long, thin, boggy field with a stream at it’s base. The stream was wide and deep and fast flowing. Luckily there was a small wooden bridge. I crossed with ease and pushed through some briar. I found myself in a cacophony of exotic coloured flowers and in the middle of all the flowers was a huge pine tree. The animals were even better. There were beautiful butterflies as big as my head to as small as my littlest fingernail. There was a delicate looking white horse and beautiful birds singing pretty songs. As it happened a pair of buzzards came swooping down for a perfect landing on a low branch of the pine tree they spoke to me. Hello we are the leaders here said the first buzzard to land. Will you look after our garden? Said the second. Yes I will I said. Thank you, but you must not tell anyone else. Would you like a look around? Yes please. The first buzzard called to the pretty white pony ‘Nattilantus!’ the pony came trotting over. Will you show… the buzzards paused…what is your name? Amy will you show amy around the garden Nattilantus? Then bring her to the den. After the tour of the gobsmacking garden, so many many plants of all colours. The pony brought me to the den and the buzzards gave me nectar juice and roasted flampanglop (a flower) with hiconta berries. I thanked the buzzards and headed home with my dog with the promise to return soon.

The Jewel Box
Splash!
I am ok! Shouted, see you in an hour. I was diving for coral and shells but I didn’t know that I was soon to be rich. After about three quarters of an hour some beautiful scenery five shells, four pieces of coral and a very small pearl I found a large rectangle cubed box of wood. My friends were a little way away so I put it in my bag and signalled to my friends that I was surfacing. When I got home I opened the box and found….the biggest bluest sapphire I had ever seen! I got on the phone to the museum in London and told them about it. I was asked to come right away with it so they could see. When the people saw it they said it was the largest one in the world and was worth a million pounds!

The Lost World
One morning Amy Amanda and Kelly were asked to tidy the PE shed where they were statled to see a clutter of junk and a bicycle. They pulled it out onto some rags and they then proceeded to make the PE shed ship shape. After, amy leapt onto the bicycle. She pressed a button and peddled. Then in a puff of green smoke she was gone. After about 5 minutes she returned in a puff of pink smoke. Am saiud she had seen dinosoars. Mrs Fergusson had seen and heard all of this and said lets go and see if we can all go back to see the dinosaur. We made a trailer with leather seats to fit everyone Our survival kit was: A first aid kit, food, water, cloths, footwear, string, compasses, torches, cameras and film and a pair of binoculars. The class all got into the trailer and amy pressed the button again and started pedalling. The school disappeared to be replaced by lush forest. The class split up into groups of three. Amy Kelly and Amanda were one group who were very brave. The groups all took out a compass so that they could find their way back to the bike and set out. The first thing the girls saw was a big scaley iguanodon. The group then saw a feathered archaeopteryx gliding from branch to branch and a diplodocus tramping through the forest eating from the tops of the trees. Kelly spotted a flock of dimetrodos and amy saw a petranodon with a fish flopping in its beak. Suddenly a sabre toothed tiger leapd out behind them growling. Hey ran as fast as their legs would go and were soon chased by a big tyrannosoarus rex with jaws dripping with drool. They lost it when they went through a thick group of trees. They saw a herd of anatosaurus and stegosauruses as well as many insects including a gigantic firefly. They saw a corythosaurus and an ultrasaurus as they continued on. Eventually they turned back and headed for home. To their surprise they had only been gone for an hour. they hauled things that they had found on their adventure into class. There were two eggs. Kely was sent to get Mr selley who could not believe his eyes. The eggs began wobbling and the whole class watched the eggs crack. Out hatched a baby triceratops and a dimetrodon. The class returned to the lost world many times but the first time was the best.

The mysterious mist
It was almost midnight, we had the computer on the badger trails game when suddenly a pink mist filled the room. The pink mist turned green and then disappeared. We found ourselves n the class vivarium. Now we were 2 cm high, mrs fergusson was only a little taller. We all hid in the cocoanut shell huts scared. A smiling face poked around the edge of the hut and Samuel Pepys looked in. Luckily we were too big for him to think of us as food. Karteek who was brave went up to him and patted his nose. She spoke some kind words and he went away. He came back with Henry VIII and James I. He climbed up onto Henry’s back and amy climbed onto James’s. they did not mind and hopped outside. They saw Elizabeth I take a swim in the little pool and then played hide and seek with the toads. It was weekend so they slept in the cocoanut huts and had a good weekend playing with the toads. We ate the pollen from a daisy and a slimy worm. Yuck!. We swam with the toads and played leaptoad. Suddenly the mist returned and we found ourselves back in the classroom.

Last one....
Valley of the Kings.
We landed with a crash in the valley of the kings at luxor in Egypt. It was the year 1922. lime cliffs, pyramids, the sphinx and other monuments towered over us. We separated into groups of 4. in my group were mrs Ferguson Amanda lisa and myself, we walked and walked in the hot sun. little over 3 miles later (and about 30 drinks) we came to an oasis and dived in for a swim. It was so cool and refreshing. We filled our water bottles and were on our way. Another mile and we met up with another of the groups. Anna, mollie and the two sarah’s. We decided to group together and had only walked a little way when we met a man. It was Howard carter. He asked if we could help him and we said we could. We did not realise how tormentingly thirsty the work was. We were digging in the hot sun but went back to the oasis for a swim at lunch time. We guzzled down any water we could get and were still thirsty. After a few more hours mrs Ferguson and I hit something hard with our spades. We dug further along and hit another step. We helped clear all of the rubble away and told carter. He got trained people to come in and help him, we were allowed to watch. About a month later we were all regrouped waiting for lord carnarvon. When he arrived we jumped up from where we were lying in the sun. he gave us £50 each for finding the steps. They broke into the tomb. It was the tomb of tutankhamum! The passage was blocked with stone and rubble. Workers cleared it. we found another door which had a solid gold seal on it! Alex stuck a pen knife through the plaster at the side and a lovely smell came through. Carter opened the tomb up and it was full of things of gold – the whole room looked golden! We were all excited and scared at the same time. Carter opened two more rooms that day and people started taking the gold and jewels to lord carnarvon’s ship that was anchored nearby to keep the gold safe. In one room there were urns, gold coins and there were two statues of the king in solid stone. We also uncovered the burial chamber with the sarcophagus. It was very difficult for the men to open and there was more gold inside! We were able to take a single small item from the tomb for ourselves. I got a gold ring with a stone scarab on it. When the tomb was empty we went home.

Darkness shines so deeply
enveloped in its skin
A mind so drawn
it cannot form
a lightness from within
The light it shadows dimly
within the walls so thick
the mind is trapped behind them
on floors so very slick
So slowly do the walls fall
the light it enters clear
washed clean by the rainfall
away go pain and fear
the heart it will endure
as rainfall makes it pure

Another willet poem this. considering the time I had to write it, I have surpassed myself.
It's quiet and dark,
and lovely and warm,
and all I can hear is my heart,
My retreat is so peaceful,
away from this life,
curled in a duvet of night,
wrapped in the arms of peace.
Then comes the dawn,
light penetrates the velvet gloom,
warmth and light bathe my face
and I wake.

The stars that shine in the great big black,
are beautiful beyond belief.
They hide from the cities and their light and noise
only the brightest braving 'civilisation'
Out in the country they reach their full glory,
Making us feel so small and insignificant down here on earth.
Brightly they shine and thickly they cover
in a river of milky white,
the velvety night sky, the great big black
In the depths of deepest night.

I was seriously depressed when I wrote this and had also just had a MASSIVE barney with my mum.
Misery
Locked in
Boxed in
Unable to go
Unwilling to stay
My mind all in confusion
My outlook is bleak
Why do my family think I’m a freak?
‘Not human’ mum said,
I wish I were dead
Or at least on my own for a while
At least then I could probably crack a small smile.
But trapped here at home
Waiting for the phone
To give me the news I need.
My life is a living hell
I am all alone
And now the tears flow free.
