View Full Version : Auckland, New Zealand GATHER

Hey there... thought I would suggest an Auckland Gather, since I just came across someone who lives not only in the same city, but also suburb as me!

So all of those in Auckland, North Shore, or the greater Auckland Region... let's get together!

Not sure what date yet, but people could suggest a suitable time for them. I'm available most school holidays (being a teacher).

Brightwing didn't group the shore with the rest of the places around here...

THE FORCE IS STRONG IN THIS 'UN!

How about Gathering in New Lynn, or Blockhouse Bay?

JOOC, which part of aux do you haunt?

Hey there... Blockhouse Bay sounds good, lol, closer to home. I'm situated in Birkenhead, North Shore City. Hence why the North Shore wasn't lumped in with Auckland hehe. I'm SOOOO not an Aucklander!! ;)

And sorry Jax... wish you could join us :(

Don't worry, we know all about you Shore-ites, one occassionly finds their way to West Auckland... we've even got a good re-education program going.

Hmm... I should ask now, so there's no nasty shocks further down the road...

Do any of the following ring any bells for you?
DQ
SCA/medieval groups
Mordavia
NAAMA
AMERICA (The auckland uni roleplaying association)

Brightwing

I never went to Auckland University. I'm a Massey student. Massey Palmerston North, then Massey Albany. Sorry. But I WAS involved in a medieval reinactment group in Palmerston North, and also part of the Uni drama group down there, too.

Tsk. There is something seriously wrong with anyone who actually *wants* to go to the Albany campus... :erm: :)

The Red Ravens? There's also quite a few groups around Auckland. :good: Let me know what sort of group you'd prefer. I know a man who knows a man who... :good:
You certainly wouldn't be the first Massite to appear on AU ground. :erm: :disguise:

Then there's the not-a-student-organisation-rpg groups:
DQ - DragonQuest - is a table-top roleplay guild.
Mordavia is a LARP group.

Brightwing
4th July 2005, 10:21 AM
No, not the Red Ravens. I was with the Phoenix Club.

As to Albany Campus... I studied in Palmerston North, was part way through my degree when my partner got a job in Auckland. So I finished my degree up here (I definitely don't like the Albany campus... doesn't have a very STUDENT feel to it).

But I am interested in getting back into some medieval reinactment, or even some drama!

Not so much into roleplay groups. PBeM great. Not good at live improvisation. I need a script, or time to think.

Ahem Ahem although I don't usually call myself an Aucklander, I live North of the Bombay Hills .... so I'm a starter.

AHOY, yliL, want another trip to Auckland? I could also mention it to Ladyaria.

Brightwing
4th July 2005, 11:35 PM
Took me a moment to figure out you meant Lily, spelled backwards lol.

Don't know if I've met Ladyaria. Have I?

Any others in the Auckland area (or even as far as Hamilton or Whangarei if you want to make the 2 hour trip)?

Depending on when we have it, I could also mention it to Delyth, who is in Wellington but who comes up this way every now and then to visit her family in the holidays.

hey, we did have a Gather in January - have you seen the pics? Think they're on Clan Fiend????
When were you thinking?

Brightwing
5th July 2005, 04:55 AM
Not sure. Either the holidays between Terms 3 and 4, or the Christmas holidays.

And for those of us with no idea when the kiddies' holidays are?

Brightwing
6th July 2005, 05:59 AM
Hmmm good point, let me look them up. LOL...

September 24th - October 9th (holidays between Term 3 & 4)
Christmas holidays start somewhere around the 20th December. Of course the actual Christmas and New Years period is really busy for everyone. So probably looking at more early January to end of January.

Or... any weekends, really. People are usually free on weekends. I just thought holidays for those that have children, but weekends are usually good, too.

Thinking, in order to get some time to organise venue etc, not August, maybe September/October at the earliest?

Brightwing
17th August 2005, 08:55 AM
Just thought I'd mention that Delyth will be staying with me from the 3rd September to the 11th September. So if anyone wants to get together sometime in that period? We could even do something at our place (and if it happens that I need help putting together an aviary that weekend... then I'll have some on hand LOL). Kidding about the aviary.

My schedule appears to be filling up somewhat quickly. I never realised just how little time I actually had!

So... something either on the weekend 3rd and 4th September (may need to be an evening thing for both myself and Delyth), or the 10th / 11th?

Rabble
17th August 2005, 11:36 AM
Here's hoping I've not booked anything for those weekends.. :D

One of the other three is my RL daughter who is known as White Gerbil, but isn't actually a KT member any more, and one is Ladyaria who I think is a member here but we don't see her often. The other one ... the other one is *letmethink* yes, there's another one, isn't there .

So, let me guess, White Gerbil is on the right, Ladyaria is the one in the hat, which leaves the one in black to be :erm: someone of a badgerish persuasion? ;)

I do believe I mentioned people could come from further away if they wanted to. Delyth (who will be up visiting) is from Wellington. I think I mentioned Whangarei and Hamilton (which is definitely south of the Bombay Hills).

So wherever you're from, you're more than welcome.

Frustration WR. As Lily can tell you, my situation here precludes me from attending such a Gather outside of Wellington. I really would like to meet all of you, but it's just out of the question unfortunately.

You got something to say about the town in which I grew up, eh bro?

;)

Anyway, have been hellishly busy and haven't checked here until now. And the first weekend I suggested is nearly upon us! Delyth (Yvonne, by the way) is arriving tomorrow, and I haven't even sorted out a place to meet, or a time or anything.

So I'm going to go ahead and say something. Since no one has been forthcoming with suggestions ;)

This Sunday (4th September)........... um. We'd need to do evening, and if anyone has any suggestions as to WHERE we could meet, I'd be happy to hear them.

I was trying to think of somewhere we could chat and socialise... and a picnic would be great but Yvonne IS up here for a course, and will be busy during the daytime.

We could go ice skating :D :D :D :D

I'd definitely be up for that! On Saturday night, that is, since they don't do a Sunday evening session. In Avondale or Botany Downs (would prefer Avondale... haven't given myself concussion there yet and it's closer to home, but Botany has better ice).

Ok, so who's up for ICE SKATING on Saturday?

Or would people prefer not to have something quite so energetic?

(I might go ice skating anyway on Saturday with Yvonne, so if you want to arrange to meet there, too, email me at brightwing@dragonslair.co.nz ).

Hope you could understand that verbal diorrhea.

Sunday good, prefer Botany (it's the newer one and the hire skates were always of better standard....that counts for a lot when trying out...trust me. crooked skates get u no where)

No concussions for me yet either...mind u i did do figure skating lessons...so i can show y'all da basics....like how to get back off ground safely

Brightwing

Um... I can't go on Sunday.

I said Saturday for ice skating at Botany. They don't do a Sunday evening session, only an afternoon one and Yvonne can't make it to that. I could, but would prefer to go with Yvonne.

So I'll be there, with Yvonne, Saturday for the evening session.

If you want to meet on Sunday for something else, we can do something in the evening.

And price is $12 including skate hire (and being a Saturday it'll be $12 for me, even though I have my own skates).

Should we carry something, like a copy of an Anne McCaffrey book, in order to identify each other?

Well, since the board went down with the best of timing (right before the weekend we were trying to get together) nothing actually happened. Which was just as well because we were all buggered.

Lady Aria, would love to get together for ice skating sometime. I'm going out of town tomorrow for over a week.

Will try and remember to check in here... if I get time.

Yay for holidays.
