HOW COOL!
I think I love Xanath BECAUSE of the puns. Talk about literal!
I loved Zombie Lover..... and am always looking for bargins on hardcovers, even if I have the paperback. Hardcovers last longer, usually.

If you can get them, read the Incarnation series. They're really good.

I love the Xanth series I started to read them after I moved to Florida.
The Mode series is good to and stand alone books like the Mer-cylce and Secret of Spring. One series that is under rated is the Geodyssey series which are wonderful and give you snapshots of history. I suggest them for people you like history or books like Clan of the Cave Bear. Some of Piers Anthony's books are harder to find in stores like Barnes and Noble because they were written and published in the 1980's thank god for used book stores.
Puns are fun and cri-tics are silly :p

Does anyone here have any spare Xanth books? I can't get them here anymore, even the library doesn't have them! *sobs*

I enjoyed the Xanth books, but after the first ten or so they were a little too much. I really like the Incarnations of Immortality books - here's the list, because order is important:
On a Pale Horse (Death)
Bearing an Hourglass (Time)
With a Tangled Skein (Fate)
Wielding a Red Sword (War)
Being a Green Mother (Nature)
For Love of Evil (Satan)
And Eternity (God)
I think one reason that they are so good is that the author is an atheist, so has no qualms about characterizing God and Satan. This series is really amazing in the underlying story that gradually comes out. One of my favorite scenes is in And Eternity when a sixteenth-century woman and a modern teenage girl have to reconcile the creation story with evolution. And it works!
My favorite will always be On a Pale Horse, though - the man who finds himself with the job of Death, is unable to carry out his job without compassion for his "clients" - the baby born in sin which he sends up to Heaven anyway, the nursing home resident who wants to hear a hymn before he goes, the woman in the hospital who is being kept alive against her will. I'm getting the shivers, remembering.

I liked "Being a Green Mother" best, followed by "And Eternity". Yes, that was my favorite of his series, and I have them all in hardback.
Xanth...I think my last one that I got was Harpy Thyme. Piers Anthony has gotten too preachy in his latter years - which is odd since he is an athiest. I guess I also think the first Xanth books were the best anyway....
The Mode series, I never got into. I did like his Adept series though. The Bio series was good. I thought he'd do another series in that universe based on Hope's little sister, but I guess that he didn't do that. It doesn't matter though - like I said, his most recent works haven't been all that great in my opinion.

. . may be my favorite but I was ecstatic when I say For Love of Evil. My husband didn't understand why but I bought it anyways (we were on vacation).
I started reading Piers over 20 years ago. The same friend that introduced me to Piers, introduced me to Anne. The love has continued but I'll purchase a Pern book as soon as it hits the shelf but will wait for a Piers book. In fact, the last 5 Xanth books were library books not purchases.

I much prefer the older Xanth books to the newer ones. Just something about them that attracted me, the newer ones it's like he's really working at them to make them work the older ones just flow.

I've only read the Incarnations of Immortality. I loved On a Pale Horse the best. And, Eternity was my least favorite, but For the Love of Evil was the most thought provoking for me.

I just started reading his books. I don't go into many different sci-fi authors, I stick with my basics -- AMC, D. Koontz, etc. I got the first three in omnibus for $7 at the local used book store. No dust cover, but at least I got them. I haven't seen any of the other books, though.
Does any body have a complete list of his books? In order or not, I don't care.
