The Love of the Blind.

I didn't know where to post this, so here it is. It was a fight between here and there and then here again. I almost posted it in the FF forum at the end of the story, but since it isn't finished yet, well, here it is.

Minoa was a 25 year old artist. She came down with a fever that had swept the various Holds and Halls in her area, (Fort). The Weyr did not contract the illness, as they usually don't. Before the fever hit her home hold, she made a fairly good living as a contract artist. She had been to different major Holds and has even done portraits for Weyrleaders and Weyrwomen of her time. Her brother, Jindor, kept the smaller pictures she had and bound them in a book for the cothold she later ran.

The fever caused Minoa to lose her sight. This was a great loss for her considering her livelihood. So, when the Search rider's came and Searched her, everyone was surprised. No one imagined that a blind girl would ever be Searched, especially not at 26 Turns! But, since Thread no longer fell, the dragons were insisting on taking whoever they Searched, though they were limited to one per place that they Searched. The dragon still would not Search anyone under 12 Turns ecause they would not be ready to ride when their dragon was.

Minoa was at Fort Weyr for about two sevendays before the Hatching. She Impressed a gold, Minoth, and they will go to the cothold at Fort Hold before she is one Turn. Ysel, the Weyrwoman at Fort Weyr, does not like that Minoa even Impressed. She really doesn't like that she Impressed gold. She is really worried about when Minoth flies for the first time in a Mating Flight, and how Minoa will react to it. She doesn't believe that the Weyr will accept a blind Weyrwoman, even if she is junior.

I will edit this as the story progresses. This is so that some of the more vague things in the story are elaborated upon and to keep you, the reader, from being too confuzzled about aspects of the story.

Maybe you could add in a little more at the beginning of the effects of the fever on the Hold, not just on Minoa - it sounded like there were a lot of people, not just her. (Which is why I wondered if anyone else had had their eyesight affected.)

Fort Hold, and the major Halls therein, were effected by the fever. It was fairly isolated, compared to the Plague. I am going to write up a prologue to the Minoa story, ust as soon as I break this wall I have built around myself and write the ending to Minoa's piece. I'm not done with her, just this part of hers and Minoth's lives.

Yes, I have writer's block. :irked: I don't know how to end that chapter in the story.

I will e starting on the fever installment soon. Watch for it. It will probably be something like Fever Pitch. I do know it will have the word "fever" in it somewhere. I will try to post it in the next week or so, but with RL pounding on my door, I don't know.

The first post for the beginning of this story is now up. From Every Vital Entity - Ruin is meant to say that the fever originated from a runner (Eisella) who caught the fever (and cough) on the trace into Fort. As Runner's are vital people to Pern, that's where I got the title, though it may change. It is no where near done. The POV's are going to change a lot, but the time's going to pretty much stay the same.

I started with Eisella comng into Fort station. She dies. The people that came in contact with her die.

After that, U'gir gets reports (and reports, and reports...) of the fever. He closes the Weyr to keep the illness from the riders. That's as far as I've gotten. Thre's going to be a bit with the Master Harper, but I haven't figured that part out yet.

The Master Healer will also get the reports and try things to see if they will help.

All of these things: the meeting at Benden, the Master Harper getting the reports and acting, and the Master Healer gettin reports and going to AIVAS to research possible treatments, will happen all around the same time. So if it gets confusing, I'm sorry.

I will tie Minoa into it, and it will probably end with the beginning of The Love of the Blind.

Blind Feedback Notes, from someone who had low vision, In DE/RSR dragon can show what they are seeing sometime.

Also, if I can be of any aid, or some of my post can help or if you need aid from the POV of a person who is vision impairded (low vision) perhaps I can give you some insited, and aid.

Also here is a idea to me she sound like my self when drawing was getting to hard, and right now I too buzy, and waiting for a new printer to get here so I can update better.

Whar about her writing, as in a harper or some writing down her idea its just a idea of mind.

Check my note over in A Bit of Fall in the Air. For I had to expane myself to a few people about the white mobilty cane I used with its rolling tip to expane things from my POV. LOL
