In Pern fandom, alternate timelines and new Weyrs abound. Many creative opportunities are available for role-players and Pern fans alike to explore stories that Anne McCaffrey herself could never have dreamed of alone. Perhaps you enjoy the freedom of these games. But have you ever taken a look at a Pern novel and wondered what it might be like to experience something a little closer to the original?

Introducing Aftermath: a forum-based role-playing game set at a classic moment in Pern's history. It is the end of the Sixth Pass, and the Plague has almost wiped out Pern's entire population. Thanks to the heroism of healers, dragonriders, and many others, Pern has been saved, but at a great cost. Now comes the task of rebuilding -- and for those who were less than heroic, salvaging their reputations.

Telgar Weyr's Weyrleader M'tani was one person who shamed himself during the Plague, by refusing help in the delivery of vaccines, and many blame him directly for Moreta's death. The Weyr has now factionalized around several of the other bronzeriders, each of whom is vying to take the leadership position. The senior queen Dalgeth will soon rise to mate. Who will catch Dalgeth on her mating flight and become the new Weyrleader? Will Telgar Weyr remain conservative and withdrawn from the other Weyrs, or will a new Weyrleader set a new tone for the future? How can Telgar regain the trust of the Lord Holders in order to secure tithes once the Pass has ended, and how can they attract new people to make up for their losses during the Plague? And perhaps most importantly, where will Telgar find enough candidates once Dalgeth clutches?

Aftermath takes place immediately following the events of Moreta, Dragonlady of Pern and Nerilka's Story, in Turn 43 of the 6th Pass. Character submissions are now being accepted for all types, as well as Adoptable NPCs, including ranking characters. Most needed are potential Weyrleader bronzeriders and, of course, candidates. Role-play will officially begin on Sunday, August 14th.

Thank you, pern_queen_rider/Pernie, for the compliment. I did have fun with the webdesign and I am glad that someone else likes it, too.

It looks like we've got several players and characters already -- a great response! From the sound of these character sheets, it looks like we should have some excellent writers involved in the game. Here's hoping for more.

Wanted: One Weyrleader!
"Lonely Weyrwoman seeks bronze rider for committed relationship. Strong leadership skills and diplomacy a must, sense of humor and studly bronze a plus! Must be available for long hours -- stamina is very important. Contact Dalgeth . . . carefully."

Which direction do you want to see Aftermath: Telgar Weyr go in? Have a hand in the future by taking charge! Leadership experience not required -- just be active, enthusiastic, and willing to work with Staff on plots.

Contact Staff with a bronze rider character that you'd like to compete for the Weyrleader position. This can be one of your own creation, or an adoptable NPC from our character sheet database. In addition to the regular character sheet requirements, please note the character's strengths, weaknesses, and political leanings. What plan does he have for Telgar's future?

Dalgeth rises on Sunday, August 21, so be sure to get your submissions in soon!

Aftermath is open and the RP has started, but all character types are still being accepted for submission. Dalgeth's flight will also be the start of Search, so bring your candidates!

I just gotta say I'm a member of this place and I give it a big ol' thumbs up. You can tell that the Owner has invested a lot of time and thought in not only the layout, but how the game will be played.

The characters that the other people have created all seem very vibrant and fun. RP is just starting, but so far several interesting plot driven threads have already devoloped. I would really suggest checking this club out because it looks like its gonna be one to stay.
