OK, this looks like a really cool show. I was soooo glad they gave Stephanie and Bobby Jon a second chance. They *should* have been in the final four. Nice putting them on opposite teams.

The first challenge was amazing and brutal. 11 miles, over rough terrain and through jungle. I bet they travelled well over 11 miles due to getting lost. And the spiked tree branch falling and injuring a player was freaky. I think the longest we have ever seen before was a mile... using an established path or road. Most previous episodes were set in tropical paradise, nice for bikinis and fantasy beach life. Even if the food was hard to get the conditions weren't generally that bad.

NAKUM

I'm not suprised that most of the guys on Nakum "went down". They are all fairly "cut"... very low bodyfat and lots of muscle. I bet Bobby Jon is only about 5%. The only guy who is in decent condition is, yeah, Judd, the fat doorman from NY. Expect him to be another Richard Hatch, starting out fat and ending up not bad. Hopefully Judd isn't prone to naked strolls on the beach.

The "eye candy" guys have no resources for their bodies to survive on under such stressful conditions. They also pushed themselves harder. Women with naturally higher body fat (24% minimum to retain health and reproductive abilities) have a better ability to survive this kind of thing. I felt that these guys were on the verge of being in bad enough condition to be evacuated to a hospital and removed fromt he game, especially BobbyJon.

Winning the better campsite was a truely Pyrrhic victory, they had nothing left for the Immunity Challenge. Then with a torn bicep Jim had no chance of surviving the vote. Without that injury he might have survived and one of the guys who is very ill might have been voted out instead of him.

It was interesting that the team with the ER nurse is the one that has all of the guys down. I bet in any other situation she would have played the game quietly, but because of her needed medical knowledge she is becoming the leader.

YAHXA

Interesting. An ex-NFL quarterback incognito. He seems to be trying really hard to let Stephanie take the lead and not make himself a target. But NFL quarterbacks generally end up with some serious leadership qualities, so it may be difficult for him to NOT wind up being the designated leader. Interesting that he would lie to hide his identity. In one interview (not on the show) he stated that he thought that if they knew who he was they might vote him out believing that he was a multi-millionare from his NFL days and comments that he played football before the days of "big money."

Hogeboom (the QB) knows how to pace himself in a physical situation, and the slower girls held the other guys back so that they didn't end up like the Nakum guys. Stephanie is rather full of herself, they will probably keep her around for her "expertize" for a while, then jettison her as being too much competition. Amy, a police sergeant, has a little extra weight, more than the other ladies in the competition, and it will probably do her good. By the end of this show she's going to need a new uniform size and the thinner "eye candy" ladies will be walking skeletons.

Next week

Previews showed one of the Nakum guys down and having some serious problems, going into convulsions and such. Mike (hubby) speculated that he may be in some kind of drug withdrawl. I seriously doubt this, I'm sure the show did drug testing and such, but it seemed to be more than the dehydration that took Bobby Jon down.

I have a strong feeling that we will see at least one, maybe more from this game end up evacuated for medical reasons. And maybe one or more will quit. This particular season of Survivor is going to be brutal.

I watched it. :bouncy: This one could be brutal. I think I would have opted to carry as muchof the food and water as possible, go slow and take the second campsite. The food and water is more important than shelter, which I didn't see at the "prime" campsite anyway.

Wasn't the guy down with convulsions tha same one the spikey branch hit? Could be he's got a deep infection that they can't see.

One thing I learned about that episode...Beware of branches with Sharp Pointy Things all over them. (http://www.wolfegar.com/Forum/index.php?showtopic=550) <--<< Used as a mean sharp pointy thing smilie.

I'm hoping Hogeboom makes it to the finals. He played for the Dallas Cowboys which are my favorite team by far. The show I'm waiting for is Amazing Race 8. That is my favorite reality show.

I thought it was an excellent beginning. Really brutal though. It would not surprise me if the fellow that got the SPT in his arm does come down with a nasty infection. The wounds looked painful!

I'm rooting for Stephanie at this point, though I liked the QB too. Actually, everyone seems pretty cool at this point, though I'm sure someone will start irritating me by the end of the next episode.

Missed the first episode, but I really liked Stephanie in the last one.

What I'm curious about is how the guy that can't breathe, (Blaine, Blake?) can do so well in the challanges. He certainly seemed to hold his own in the spider webby one.

This game could be a bit different. For once, simply being cute isn't enough to keep you in the game if you don't do any of the work around camp.

I'm starting to think that the guy who claims he can't breathe is at least partly faking it. That performance at the challenge doesn't look like a sick man to me.

And wow, Judd, in the tug of war! The guy is a brick. A strong brick.

I hd a feeing from the time they posted the bios that the sportscaster would recognize the quartreback. I was right. She sure figured it out fast, too. Why she was shouting it all over the place I'm not sure. Gary is denying it as he said he would.

They asked him if we WAS an NFL quarterback. As of now he's not, he's a landscaper who happens to be a former NFL quarterback. :D One of those little technicalities. Might be enough to keep him in the game for a bit.

I don't see why it's such a big deal really. It will come back to haunt him later though.

I like Yahxa better than Nahum so far. But if they don't win immunity next time, Lydia will be out.:erm:

 Did you see what happened to the teams this week? This is really going to mess up some game plans.

I'm slowly starting to get a few favorites, Stephaine, Gary, Ann (the cop), Judd, and that farmer who I can't remember right now. They all seem to be playing the game well. Doing their share of work and trying not to get in the spotlight anymore than they have to.

I'm with you on the favorites, Mausey. Especially poor Gary, who never made millions playing football but because of the modern idea of what athelets earn, they all assume he did.
