Was it just me, or was the last book a bit harder to get through than the others?

It wasn't just you. :( The first couple books had so much promise and were, to me at least, exciting. The longer the series went the challenge seemed to go out of it. I still enjoyed reading the books and have the entire series, but they aren't on my list of favorites.

i love them all. maybe its just because the first couple were about survial o a strange planet without much tech. after they get the tech i guess it takes something away. thats why i find it hard to read the pern books after they find AIVAS.

its because they don't seem to have to do as much or try to get any where thats why i tend to keep to the first books

Ok, I loved them all. No, I am not big on coffee. But I can tell you it would not be very believable if they just got earth and all the other human inhabited planets back just *snap* of the fingers. I got the game and played it thru. The game ties in with the third book. It was great fun.

The last book was a little slower paced and not as exciting as the first 3, but I still enjoyed it. I just figured it was setting up the plot for the next few books. :D Can't wait to see what happens next. :bouncy:

I enjoyed it, although it wasn't perhaps quite as exciting as the other books. However, the cool bit was recognizing some names from the OKT, some of whom are still around. Hi there Jax! :ok:

LOL whoa total freak out!! I thought 'how can you see me looking at this thread' :haha: yeah it was pretty cool getting my name in there *head swells* and seeing other people from KT in there as well
your captain pilot signing off!

That's true, granath. Though when I first read the book, I don't think I'd joined the OKT, it was great to re-read after I'd "met" many of the people mentioned in the beginning and during the book.
And no, it wasn't my favorite, but still the series is (one of my favorites). I'm sure that makes a lot of sense:spin:

maybe it would have been more exciting if zaniel hadn't be ablr to stop the transport ship with Kris and whats-her-name on.

I actually... uhm... haven't finished reading it yet. It just lost my interest and I had to put it down for a while before it became a chore to read it.
*sigh*
I'll finish it, though, and I'm sure it'll be more interesting :)

not much happened, then not much happened in most of the books. i guess it might just be a filler book.

The whole book to me felt like a filler... A bit of something to do in the meantime...
I mean, really,l aren't we just waiting to mount the expidition to find the farmers and learn more about them...?

Exactly! It totally felt like filler material, no offense to Anne, but it did.
And like I said, I had such a hard time keeping an interest in it that I put it aside and still haven't finished it.
And JAX! I thought I recognized your name when I first saw it here! LoL I was Meena on Anne's KT! :D

Yes, one of the best bits of the book was name spotting from the KT!
I'm still jealous that I wasn't around then to get a mention :humphsmilie:

I also found that the last Freedom book was a bit hard to get through, but the others were quite good, although, not my favourites (which are Pern and Crystal singer).

Well she didn't put all the KT people into the book back then either JMerc :D just a few of the people she'd met and knew etc

My problem with Freedom's Ransom was that the first three books seemed to form somethign of a complete story arc, what with the Eosi at the end of Challenge. Anne sort of had to start again from a stand-still in the latest book, at least as far as I could see, and that handicapped the process.

Hey Just Bob!
I agree with you, the first three were a great trilogy. Book four didn't flow like the first three. Hopefully the next one will be better. There IS going to be another one isn't there?:erm:

After all these years I guess I should admit that I was a bit hurt that my name was not in the book after the many conversations I'd had with Anne when she was fighting insomnia. I decided to Get over it long ago and remember just how many peeps there were to remember and what an ordinary sort of name mine is. As for the book, I enjoyed it in spite of some glaring inconsistancies and I would probably buy a new book if it were to come out.

with any series there are inconsistants through. it's really annoying, especially when you don't know which version to follow.

I agree. I read it, but it took a long time to get through and wasn't the most interesting book I was reading at the time. Funny thing is, some of Anne's books are STILL the most interesting thing I'm reading at the time.... :D

:bouncy: I just finished the latest book "Ransom" and though I didn't enjoy it as much as the first three I did enjoy it quite a bit.
One thing though... is it just me or did the ending sound like it was leading up to another addition to the "Freedom Saga" *hopeful look* I've become adicted to the series and I was actually sad when I finished reading it... ^^;

Hmmmm I enjoyed them all equally, but they did appeal to me in different ways. The first ones had a sort of "survivor" appeal, wheras the last ones appealed more to my sci-fi self.
And I checked, I was supposed to be the one listed as "Allettah" in the front  I even got it hard-copy, which was bloody expensive, because I'd been told my name was in the front LOL.
See sig for correct spelling of my nick ;)

It's more a case of winding down. I'd guess. Anne will probably be focusing on different passes now. But she obviously wanted to get the main stuff taken care of. This is her life's work.
Was it just me, or was the last book a bit harder to get through than the others?
