Yes, by the stars and Faranth's egg, YES!! :hopping: :hopping: :whee:

WHY did their poor server crash?! I want to sign up NOW! :banghead:

Last year when I started NaNo I had only a vague idea for a story. This year I'm going to plan it quite well. I know it can be fun to write without much of a plot (I certainly had a great time last year! :D) but I want to try it this way now.

So, now I already have a "vague idea", and I plan on expanding on that before November 1st.

Is that why I can't register? The servers down Besila and Rabbles?

I've a plot-egg up in my mind- I tihnk I may base it off of a hurricane type thingy, cause of Katrina. *hmms*

I have not created Characters but I am thinking about it. I have to find name for my character and see if I want to do modern or alternate. I don't know whether I'm ready to write an allusion to an autobiography of myself or not. I may just do it. I don't know wheteher to go Female or Male for main character but I CANNOT WAIT TIL NOVEMBER 1st!

*begins to develope all my little charts*

I'd love to but simply wont have the time - My minimum time for qualification at my work comes up in November, and in the meantime I have to learn all the things I haven't been able to do (bosses needed staff in other areas. Lots of people wanting to do the special stuff for qualification but not enough room for everyone to do it).
I think I'm gonna be pretty stuffed by the time I make it home during that month.

But you can do NaNo even without the 'net. You only need the internet when you've written 50 000 words, between November 25th (or at least that's what it was last year) and December 1st to send the story to the NaNo site to have the word count checked.

Sparta was the influence for modern western civilisation.

However... what would still be the same? what would be the major turning points in history effected? :banghead:Um.. sorry, but I'm not sure if I can really help you. I don't know much about Sparta. Did a quick read on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparta#History) (not the whole article).

* Both boys and girls were physically trained. Perhaps genders would be more equal?
* Spartans were ruled by two kings, but I suspect we'd still have presidents as well as kings now.
* They apparently didn't encourage trade. Maybe countries would be more self-reliant, even secretive?

Sorry if I'm not giving good advice now. It's quite late here, so I don't think my brain could cope with the second question. :erm:

Triple:

Unfortunately I'm now quite sure that even with 2000 words/day my story won't be finished by the end of November (not that it has to be). In December I'm going to slow down my pace; only yesterday I've started to feel like I could use a break from writing. It's been a wonderful month, but I'm finally starting to get a bit tired. Hmmm...I can make it to 37K in the next hour. I'm not going to be a winner in '05. Too many things got in the way but I do love the way my novel is going right now. I'm planning on extending NaNoWriMo into Dec. and writing out a plan to have 100K by the end of the month

I did not win but I have a great concept going and I'm accepting that I lost something. I'll be fine. This month was to challenge me to start writing and stop being a "one day novelist" (read the NaNo site...one day I'll write a novel, basically). I'm going to be a "this and next month novelist"

I'll probably slow it down a bit and take my time editing and perfecting it so that I don't have to do it again like I do with the last book. I'm not even to page 10 of its editing but it is going pretty good.

I just lost 6 more minutes from NaNo here, but I'll be okay. THank you all for the support, but I just filled my plate a bit too full this year to be doing NaNo.

Hmm...I need to go seperate a chapter here...

Bye all, see you at midnight!

As for me? Nope. :( I *could* have made it, but I decided I didn't want a repeat of last year - I sort of burned out, and took almost the whole year to recover. I still can't look at the drivel I spewed last year.

However, I like how my story is going, and i'm going to keep writing it even though November is over. Might not have the purple bar but... I WIN! :)

I am not, but I will make it known when I have finished writing it so that people can read and critique it for me...

No, or not yet at least.
Until I finish my novel I'm going to try writing 1000 words per day. After that I might try the club 100. Although that may have to be put off since I do want to do some editing on my NaNo stories.

There's also a 'club 1000' - 1,000 words per day for a thousand days...

I bombed :( Started quite well, then got a virus (physical, not computer ;)) which wiped me out for three whole weeks in November...

Still, there's always next year :)
