In case you were wondering how to pronounce that, it's like a little kid would pronounce "Just Experimenting", and since I'm a kid at heart.......well......yeah.

Oh well. I was just playing around with Photoshop painting techniques and came up with this here painting. Was wondering what others would think of it. I think something's wrong with the binary stars, but since I haven't ever seen a pair, I'm not quite sure what. Any ideas?

Also, anyone know of any good places to store images for linking? VillagePhotos is *not* very good. Hate that site, but it's the only one I know of.

Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com/)

I used this for my Ebay sales. Worked quite well.

*whispers to Jen* Thank you very much for Photobucket. It's a lot easier to use than Village Photos aaaaaaaand it's got a bigger upload limit. Makes things so much easier.

Very nice picture I.L.Y. I really like the contrasting colours in the binary stars.

WOW!!! that is extremely impressive! You did this in Photoshop? Now I feel ashamed of my works in it  I have no idea what binary stars are supposed to look like, but this interpretation is very interesting. I like that little tinge of green on the planet too. I'm just wondering what that red flash is on the planet? an impacting asteroid?

Please post some more! Looks like you have a very promising future in art ;)

Never feel ashamed of your own work. No matter if it's quite up to your standars(which it hardly ever is), you still created it. That alone makes it worth a lot. :P

But yeah. I did that in Photoshop. It's quite easy actually, and I'll post more, but I didn't develop the technique I used to do that scene on my own. I learned it from a site called Good Tutorials (www.good-tutorials.com). There are thousands and thousands of tutorials on that site, and very few of them overlap. I used a tutorial that taught me how to make the orange sun and adapted it for all three of them.

The asteroid(yup, that's what it is) on the other hand is a technique I did develop on my own. The next picture I'll post is also a technique of mine too. I'm going to join a design forum somewhere online soon and post those two. Hopefully they'll make it to GT, but oh well. All it takes is a lot of experimentation. And if you *do* go to GT and learn from them, remember that the best part about those tutorials is taking them and adding your own flair once you know them well enough. That's when your work'll get *really* good and you'll start being satisfied(or at least quite a bit closer than you were before) with it. :)

*edit* - *Gasp* I can't believe I forgot this. Thank you all you who've looked at this and commented. Thank you very much. :D

That is a wonderful picture. :applause: I just wish I could do anything even half as good as that.

I.L.Y., if the blue and yellow spherical object is a star, then I'd say your binary pair is way too close together. They look more like they are colliding.

Really cool looking.

Here is a google search to some artist conceptions of binary stars.

The Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22binary+star%22+%22Artist+Conception%22&btnG=Google+Search)

The images at these various sites may give you some ideas.

I'd like to see more of your art work. :good:

*chuckles* I was waaaaaaaaaay off on my interpretation of a binary star system. Oh well. Always fun to learn(Thank you very much for that info Wolfegar). Maybe I'll fix that one some time.

But, here's (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v229/BrushedAside/BlackHoleyThinger.jpg) a new one of a star getting sucked into a black hole. This one's also got something wrong with it, I think with the tail of the star. I know that black holes aren't actually visible, but oh well. It's also a bit boring. Needs something to spice it up a bit, but it's a start I think.

Finally. One I'm paticularly happy with. As my teacher says though, it's never done, but.......it's to a point I'm happy with it, so that'll do for now.

Dragonwarden, practice is all it takes. And a good teacher. You could do ten times better than this, I'm sure of it.

Granath, the possibilities to Photoshop are endless. With a tablet to actually draw with, you can do paintings that look exactly as if they were done with oils without accidently drinking turpentine or getting everything all messy, or do a charcoal drawing without marking all over your own face in the process. Or.........you can do stuff like that. *looks up* In my opinion at least, the Adobe Creative Suite(Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) is the very best software package ever programmed.

Ooh, I really like that last one :D Great work.

Maybe its because I only have photoshop elements, that I can't do things like that. Maybe I need a better version. But I do have a tablet, just a small one though. Do you know how much it would cost for the Adobe Creative Suite?
