I often had the wish or daydream to be able to offer ANNE MCCAFFREY one or more fire lizard eggs for all the hours of pleasure her books have given me
What is your thought on this

Would they get on with the cats?
I guess if you gave greens or browns she'd have the perfect shoulder ornament as both colours are lazy and not too bright. For a more active companion the gold would be best, although they can be dominant.
Perhaps bronze would be best, loyal, not inclined to be silly and also very protective of their female "friend". The same is true of blues, only they're less intelligent.

I would have to say I would give the Queen a Queen.

Maybe she would rather hear your praise than receive a reward.
After all, with your thanks and compliments, you show her how much her works mean to you.
If you give her something for that time and effort, you are then TRADING her for what she has given... taking away "the gift."

You know, I never really thought about it like that before, but it makes a lot of sense.
I know that I would probably much rather hear praise (or read it) from fans/admirers than receive a gift. Praise is so much more personal.
Good point!

Thats a really good point DuchessPariah. But for all the endless hours of pleasure her books have given me, she'd be listening to my praise for almost an equal amount of time

As an unpublished (except when posting on forums for critique) writer, I know that I am always exceedingly pleased to find someone who appreciates my works of literature. Though Ms. McCaffrey might not (probably wouldn't, because.. honestly.. who does?) have time to listen to endless hours of appreciation, I doubt she'd be averse to knowing that someone (many people, actually) want to rain such praise upon her.

Oh yes, I agree, no one would have time to listen to me blabber on and on about how mush I love those books

Call me odd, but I'm not really into that mushy stuff. ;) And, watching someone cry over a book might make me feel a teensy bit odd...
Maybe that is just me.
Though, if the book were REALLY expensive and it were torn up... or exceedingly rare... Well, that would be a different story.

Well, despite the wisdom Pariah shared with us, let me tell you that Anne loved and loves the things she get and got sent from fans. Don't get me wrong, you don't have to send her anything and if you do it need not be expensive etc.
A lot of things can be special... on the tagboard in Anne's office (where she writes) you can find an envelope that once held a fan letter. The letter has been read and as far as I could see not in the envelope, but Anne kept the envelope because the address reads:
Anne McCaffrey
Dragonlady
Ireland
And it got delivered, no problem :D And Anne is rightfully, very proud of that!

Awwww, that is so sweet! :heartbeat:
I'd like to send her a drawing of a dragon, to see if its anywhere close to what she imagines, but with her busy schedule I doubt she could reply. Even if she can't I'd like her to have it just as a thank you for all the joy she's imparted to me.

I had that same daydream!
In mine I gave her around a half dozen eggs. I think. (Well, I daydreamed that ages ago!)
I also daydreamed giving all my Willet Friends and :fiend: family a single Fire Lizard Egg each. (That one was one of those daydream/story things I do before drifting off to sleep at night. When I was younger, I used to try to remember where I left off the night before and I would try to keep it going like a series. {Don't worry...it's a me thing.})

I agree that praise is a good thing but what better praise then to show with a gift how much she has improoved your life and happiness

I cried at the end of Moreta, when Leri and Orlith went together.

Me too, also when Kasia died in Masterharper. I don't know why, but that one really made an impact on me. But I cried most of all when Robinton died  who didn't??

I cried when Melony finally was free of her self doubts and I am a man in his 50's but it realy hit me.

Good thought, Bugsy. She'd have to get a queen since she's made such a point of making them the most desirable. Don't you think?

I didn't. Don't get me wrong, I loved the guy, but I was glad that he went in such a peaceful, decent way. Everyone else in the books seemed to be dying in knife fights.
I did cry when Jaxom impressed Ruth. It hit me right in the gut.

:heartbeat I would like to give her an egg, or maybe a functional shoulder dragon. However mine's only in the planning stage - another bright idea that never got off the ground - and the sewing room's full of a stray nephew and all his stuff.

Same with me  I could make either a poseable one made from cloth, maybe spandex which would be good for the wing-sail. Or if I ever get alot of money I have a plan for a moulded silicone one that can flap its wings, twitch its tail and have glowing faceted eyes. But money is the problem :( Trying to figure out how it could blow fire without melting its mouth or setting my hair on fire
