Fandom Character Bases

Are there any characters you've created in Pern fandom that you've based on yourself or other real people?
Over at Moon Lake, my character Solanna is heavily derived from me. We have the same appearance and personality, and I named her gold fire-lizard Jazzy after my dog. I think I'd make a great Weyrsinger and that's what she does. K'ran, another ML charrie and Solanna's best friend, is based on one of my good friends. I adapted everything from his appearance to his struggle for acceptance to Pern and made K'ran. I've never actually told him this, but I think he'd be flattered. I hope so anyway.

[Kaoru]

I've actually got two that I crafted after myself. Well, one just kind of ended up that way. She (Kaoru) was originally supposed to be some shy little thing. Heh. Funny, to think of her now.

Aryal: My first Pernese. I combined the names of myself and my then boyfriend to create her name. She held my posture, spoke as I would, looked as I did.. everything. ... Within a year, I was bored of myself.

Joined another Weyr, created Kaoru: A shy, thin little thing straight out of Harper Hall and the reach of an abusive father. I planned out her entire background (I even have it written down somewhere...).

Both girls are now dragonless, former green riders. Aryal has maintained my better side. She's nervous around new people, unsure of herself since Arwenth's death, but strives to do her best. She believes firmly in making lemonade when life gives her citrons. Kaoru..

I haven't been nice to Kaoru. In turn, she has ended up being my darker half. She will rant, she will curse, she will berate others so quickly that I honestly believe she's given bronze riders whiplash. She's a closet alcoholic. She is everything I'm afraid of letting loose, and yet.. I love the character.

[Greenrider Tresa]

Never exactly, but I like to think most of my sonae have some part of me.

Tresa, my first sona (yes, THAT Greenrider! LOL) was a bit of an idealized version of me. She had my sense of humor, but is far more outgoing and friendly even when just meeting people. She usually keeps her temper in check, is loyal to her friends, and protective of her children. Her family's also loosely modeled after mine at the time. I did change her looks a litle, her hair and eyes are lighter, she's thinner and taller than me. I love Tresa, who's matured and become more complex over the years. Not quite so quick with a laugh or a prank...

Weyrwoman Besslyn is an older version of me, a little bit closer in the looks department, but with a more serious personality. She can be difficult to get along with, and has a soft side that mostly only family and close friends get to see. She's got a temper and a sharp tongue which she doesn't hesitate to use.

Bluerider Feirryn expresses my more cynical and sarcastic side, but doesn't really look like me. She's probably a mix of some of my Mexican relatives. Feirryn takes a bit longer to warm up to people, her temperament's somewhere between Tresa and Besslyn and can fluctuate depending on the situation. She has strong beliefs about right and wrong, and doesn't hesitate to express them.

Well, I tend to write brunettes a lot. In fact I don't think I have any blonde characters.

Not really on me. Though I did base my healers on characters from my original stories.

On one of the online games I play on, I created a male that became a bronzerider, and then after He'd been around a while I created the bane of his existence and named this character S'ick. Where my rider was considerate of women, S'ick would practically drool and try to tell them what they were going to do with him. He was going to marry them and have demented children... and I paired him up with another rider who was a craftrider for Healers, that would run into Flights, and rescue the whole crowd from S'ick and drag him off elsewhere.

My first Pern character, created about 9 nears ago now (I was 11, dear lord!), was physically based on what I figured I'd look like some time down the road. A tall, pale brunette with denim gray eyes. As far as personality goes, she tended to be a bit like me. Affable, shy, quiet. But there were differences as well. I don't rightly remember everything about her now.
