I used to do other PBeMs in college (none Pern), but I have not been involved in any in thre years. I'd like to start up again. Here are my requirements:

1) PBeM. No message boards. And Round-robin style.
2) I hate to sound like I am dogging teenagers, but I's prefer the main owner(s) of the weyr be college-age or above. I'm saying this simply because (mostly) they are a lot freer to have social lives on the 'net and won't possibly dissapear ;)
4) A place that has members, but not a billion of them. I guess at least a dozen and nom more then 30. And where there are some messages daily, but not enough to flood my inbox, nor have there be days when it is left empty.
5) Some canon, but a bit looser, such as women on blues and browns. But still, only the five dragon colors, no men on gold/women on bronze.
6) A 'realistic'-type premisis. Not a 12 year old WW, not 30 golds and no blues, no weyrs rampant with Mary-Sue characters, no characters with 20 firelizards, etc
7) There must be firelizards. I must have a character with a firelizard. A cute little blue one named Harper. OK, maybe that's a bit cliched....!

I think that's it :) I hope I don't sound super-picky!

1. North Ranges is strictly PBeM, mostly round-robin with the occasional full post tossed in.

2. I am the owner (27), and the other two BoDites are 'college age or above.' (Well, above. If they want I'll let them say by how much.) The majority of our members are twenties or older, and I don't think we have anyone who's not at least in college.

4) (What happened to 3? Never mind...) We have somewhere around 30 members, probably half of whom are active at any given time. I doubt very much that ANY Weyr who isn't an inbox-flooder can guarantee that there will NEVER be days without Weyr mail, but we probably average 3 a day, with as many as twenty or thirty for BIG plots and as few as none if everyone's busy. That tends to happen in Weyrs not owned/operated/populated by the high-school set, unless, again, they're the HUGE ones.

5) We are an Alt. 5th Pass--loose on canon in that we allow firelizards as pets, have women craftmasters and on greens, and (so far) one woman on blues. And AIVAS never happened, so we're off Anne's timeline by several hundred years. We're canon in no sports, no contact with the South, no dolphins at this point, no women on browns or bronze, no men on gold, and we more or less stick to the sexuality rules of the book (female riders are heterosexual by preference, except the blue rider, male green riders are homosexual, male blue riders are homosexual or bisexual, brown riders are generally straight but sometimes flexible, bronze riders are straight but flight-bi.)

6) We may run to drama at times, but no "My Little Weyr", "Dawson's Weyr", and while we're lightening the rule on how many flits you can have, it's basically because people tend to forget their characters have them anyway.

7) Oh, we have firelizards. I just invented a d20 method of determining who impressed what from our last clutch so there'd actually be some surprises for a change. As for what you name it...well, as long as it's not "Pikachu" or something along those lines, we're generally pretty flexible.

Check out our website, if you're interested: http://www.geocities.com/northrangesweyr/

If you were looking to play a candidate, our Senior queen just rose. Given how fast our 'Weyr time' moves, you'll probably have a while to play as a candidate before we actually get to the whole clutch/Hatching/Impression thing.

Hmmm. . . .I think Sigran Weyr might suit you.

1) Sigran Weyr is PBeM and round-robin to boot. I don't like message boards to role-play on, but that's just me right now.

2) I'm about 28 years old (have been through college) and most of our players are older. Those that are younger tend to be more mature writers. Those who can't or won't write well need not apply unless you're willing to change it.

4) We've had at least a dozen players but lately, a few players have left, mostly because they were lurkers who were willing to sit on the sidelines and enjoy the show without participating. You'll be getting some messages, but I can guarantee that your inbox won't be flooded everyday.

5) Sigran, for the most part, is a traditional Weyr in an Alternate 8th Interval. AIVAS has never been found and never will be. There's no technology beyond what the Pernese develop on their own. Still, we're a little looser in canon in that, at the Weyr, women can ride green, blue and gold (though browns are out for the moment just because no one's showed an interest, now or in the past). We have all five colors with the "normal" variations of color allowable. Men are not (and never will be) allowed on gold and women are not (and never will be) allowed on bronze. Men that ride green are homosexual, those who ride blue are bi-sexual or gay, and brown and bronze are normally straight but can swing either way depending on the outcome of a flight and only then. Women who ride gold and green are straight and those who ride blue are gay/bi.

6) Again, Sigran is realistic in its storylines. Drama is sensibly thought out and well-written while anything TOO much like a soap opera or, like someone else pointed out, Dawson's Creek or other similar shows, will not be permitted or, at least re-written to a sensible level. WW won't be in their teens and we currently have only one gold (and more to come) and a sensible amount of the blues and greens. Flits are kept to a maximum number and no one may have more than one each (if that) of gold or bronze. It's harder to get a bronze or gold of either flit or dragon if you already have one of the other. May-sues are not welcomed here and anyone with a Mary-Sue application can expect to make some massive changes before that application is accepted.

7) Firelizards are more than welcomed though we don't have any clutches at the moment. Any eggs/clutches that do become available will be made available to all. Colors will be determined upon Hatching and who they're going to.

Hmm, well, Bitkim Weyr and Falling Skies Weyr come to mind... main activity tends to be in the afternoon/evenings Central Time, and there are occasional days where there's no mail, but not always. In fact, when our two main posters are plotting heavily, there can be as many as 20 mails in a night for several days in a row.
The BoDs of both are all in their 20s. Bitkim has 8 members, Falling Skies 16. Both are Round-robin PBeMs, and plotty characters are encouraged. Faling Skies has tackled Pernese politics several times.
We do have women on blues at both, but only Falling Skies has a rare female brownrider. Just the five standard colors. Oh, and all goldriders are between the ages of 20 and 50 currently.
Check out the links in my sig. You can lurk for a while if you want. Both Weyrs currently could use lots of Candidates, as well as crafters and Holders, but there is always room for more riders.

Arolos is a great weyr.

The website is www.arolosweyr.co.uk.

Or, if you have a darker perspective on Pern, try Dark Fort.

Heh, Alchemy said one that DOESN'T flood the inbox. While they're nice, neither Arolos nor Dark Fort qualifies there!
